Anchors work like this, o

The _'s are a foot of sorts that is pressed under the skin through a hole created with a needle or dermal punch, the | is the stem or bar that comes out of the skin and the o is well..the ball or whatever you have screwed onto the stem, the foot actually has little holes in it is the skin and muscle heal through it, holding it in place "permanantly" meaning it will not fall out and they are very unlikely to grow out, but they CAN be removed by a professional.

i do them. did my own by my eye. no the don't hurt too bad,if your piercer is experienced with them. i think it was the easiest piercing i've gotten.there are two main ways to make the hole. with a piercing needle or a biopsy punch. the punch method is the way to go. the don't come out as easily as the go in so consider your placement carefully!

i just got my dermal anchor cheast peircing done and i just wanted to know if there is anything you can do besides take it out if it gets infected

yes there is, by a bottle of saline solution (the stuff they use to clean contacts with) pour a small amount in a microwave safe dish n heat it up for around 7 seconds,using either cottonwool or makeup pad pat do not rub the dermal, do this twice daily for as long as it takes for it to heal. Or you can get bactroban cream yet you need a prescription for it.
