I thought the Jane film was good because it had a good balance between story and action, was semi-realistic, has a bit of depth with the apartment sublplot, and isntead of killing all the bad guys the Punisher tricks them into killing eachother and into ruining their own lives, than kills them. The lower body count made it more realistic. Ennis is great, and I know the movie was different than the original Punisher story, but I thought it was well executed.
2 questions; 1: WHy isn' this on the blu-ray at all? and 2: How do they expect us to believe he fired a Spaz-12 up 4 stories and killed people in a single shot?
@Spystreak I stand corrected on the gun name, but the fact remains, they want us to believe a shotgun's buck shot will travel from the ground to the roof of a 6+ story building and not require a second shot to kill.
dAMN DOG,THAT WAS SIK ASS SHIT! As for the shottie... theres sabot slugs that will reach out an TOUCH someone if you know what i mean... even so,ordinary buckshot jhas achived some crazy feats... so that range... with one shot... no,but more than one shot... whos too say?
theres no reallity in this animation obvs. ye he used weapons tht couldnt do wat they did but all tht stuff wouldnt make it to the movie. the writer was jst roughly sketching wat the scene wud be like. so if it was filmed it wud be filmed more realistic nd mabye diff
Is this the opening which explains why or how jimmy was the one that gave the informations to Howard Saints? If not, could someone explain why jimmy betray Frank?
He had a Gambling problem and stole money fom federal funds to pay his debts. The owners of the casino he gambled in were associates with the Saints and they threaten to make public papers proving he had stole the money from the funds if he didn't give up Castle's location.
It appeared in the extended edition DVD. And When Frank found out about it, he confronted him and gave him a Gun for Jimmy to kill himself, which he did.
Why in the hell didnt they film this as the movie's opening??! This was such a great scene and has alot of symbolism which wouldve fit nicely with the movie.
They didn't have the money to film this scene. The movie only had a shooting budget of $15 million, which is peanuts compared to most action films (which averaged about $64 million at the time).
It's the same reason Hensleigh chose to shoot the film in Tampa, Florida; he had very little money and was forced to skimp everywhere he could, and filming in Tampa happened to be relatively inexpensive.
Well this was before the s*** hit the fan with his family being killed. This was at a time when Castle believed that the punishments dealt to [war] criminals was adequate.

What??? Frank Castle is a Vietnam veteran! This is totaly wrong!!! Who make this have totaly changed the story! The big shame is Tim Bradstreet have make this...
if the story is set in 2004 frank couldn't be a vietnam veteran, he would have been too old, it's the same reason for nick fury now being a vietnam veteran in the MAX series, whereas in the first universe he had fought WWII
i agree i know i would have liked it if the studio okayed the live action version of this, they recreated this with stop animation from photographs and directors own words " teh sequence is more like an outline of a dream , had we had the budget , had we had the time to fully realize teh Kuwait prelouge" if this is good imagine how awesome would be fully realized in live action and special effects
Loved the animation

The Thomas Jane film would have been better if they added these 3 things:
Garth Ennis wrote the story
The body count was higher (my main complaint about Jane's Punisher was that the body count was WAY too low)
The budget was bigger

This is how the film should've been released, with this intro intact. i like how it forshadows castle's life of conflicting standards of justice.
