Yoshimura highly recommends jetting with an exhaust modification on this motorcycle for both the slip-on and full-system exhausts. The dynographs above are shown with the Dynojet Jet Kit PN: 2193.
what does that mean? do i have to buy another mod or something?
is this duel exaust or single by the looks of it im guessing duel. i want to get yoshi exausts they are about $500.00 and im a non millionare 15 year old so yea is it a single?
Thank all of you for all your comments and input! I actually no longer have this bike, but upgraded to a ZX6R last May. This vid is still getting crazy hits and video responses from all over the world so I'm keeping it up. Feel free to keep the love going!
Although, your Area P sounds different than other peoples because yours has surfaces closer to it (carport ceiling, the wall). These reflect the sound, thus amplifying it... which is a good thing, too. =)
For some reason this reminds me of flowmaster exhaust on a 4.0 I6 Jeep Cherokee! It sounds badass dude. I consider a new exhaust to be an "essential" mod to a ninja 250. The stock pipe is so boring and ugly, and aftermarkets can get you a couple hp.
agree..sounds great but IMO i would have spend the extra cash and bought the full exhaust...Thats what Im going to do when my 2009 250R is delivered, cant decided between the Yoshi or HR1 can or Area P...any suggestions?
If you combine the a full system exhaust with a K&N air filter, you'll get a HUGE boost in HP. Granted that boost would probably be like 7-9HP, but when your bike only puts out 30ish horses anyway, that's big gain for not that much more money.
Nice sound and look from the aftermarket exhaust BUT nothing sounds like a 2 stroke.Anyway having ridden it its a very good bike with good handling and brakes and an overall good choice for the entrance into the world of street bikes
im 15 and planning on getting one of these next year, how old shud i be to get insured, and where can i find full exhaust systems for this and how much are they, and do you have to jet a street bike like you do with a dirtbike after you put a aftermarket exhaust on. please reply
for me is no diferece if you want better sound get a bigger bike w/t bigger motor like a 650gsz zuxuki or ninja that's just my opinion this is a bigginer bike is just bodywork not much of a motor tho
what does the jet kit do?? For eample does it give it more horse pwer, more torque????Please explain.. Im getting a Kawasaki Ninja 2008 zzr 600 do I need it?
siccck video. Exhaust sounds tight. Dude I'm getting my 250 TODAY its done at the dealers so just gotta go in and get it. I see that youre under 500 miles and are you keeping it under 7000 rpms? Is that what is recommended?
Looking into the FMF apex right now, I wrotethe company and asked how much db is added compared to stock, weight reduction, and for dyno charts, when I find out I will let you know!
Thanks for the vid. I'm going area P when i get my exhaust. I think I'll do a fender eliminator and a solo seat, then exhaust will come. I saw the blue when ipicked up my 250r and it looked incredible! Hope to see some riding vids your bike soon
my 08 ninja has been recalled. i am also having problems with my right blinkers. recalled for brake line and also air clean. i am out a bike for at least a week.
"Stock fuel curve ranges from 12.5-13.5. The Ninja 250R does exhibit a tendency to be slightly lean in the low-mid range and slightly rich up top. It is still within specs and no changes were necessary on our test bike. Properly jetting the carbs may further enhance performance."
can you tell a difference in power and also a difference in performance. lugging or loss of power in some areas. etc etc. anything negative or that could use tuning
Well according to Area P themselves you do not need a jet kit. I suppose if you think people on a forum know more than the manufacturer by all means go by what they say.

And Long term running an engine lean or rich isn't a good plan
No doubt, I'm sure I'll end up jetting it if I do find flat spots in the acceleration once I can really open her up. Everything under 7000rpms is bitchin' at this point though. If it ain't broke, I'm not gonna try to fix it. ;)

generally they do and this is something that is not uncommon among carb'd bikes when you add a full exhuast. Judging on how manufacturers factory tune their vehicles with factory parts it is good to edit the fuel cause that is something I have noticed helps alot with engines with stock carbs set up for a more restrictive exhaust. And Long term running an engine lean or rich isn't a good plan
