  • I'm loving it! Great knife!

  • Nice review, but I have to say, you are the first person I've seen/read with a negative opinion of Spyderco's Taichung manufacturer, and also the first to think they are inferior to Golden (cf, BLUNTRUTH4U's Sage review). Keep in mind those S30V blades are made in Golden.

As for the Caly only showing "Japan" (also note the font used for "Spyderco" in the maker's mark), that's because it's made by Moki. They have manufactured some of Spyderco's best-made knives.

  • @shimage If you want to see the the different in quality between Taiwan and Golden Spydies, compare the Leafstorm and the Chokwe, its one of the best ways since they both are same era, and same construction. One is Taiwan and one is Golden. No one that truly understands a quality crafted knife would think that they are the same quality.

  • Taiwan and China are not the same. China is JUNK! But Taiwan makes great knives with extremely high quality. Many of the custom knives are outsourced to Taiwan. The quality is dictated by the manufacture on based on the cost they want to control. You get twice the knife for half the price with "made-in-Taiwan".

  • @qvup7 Indeed they are two different Countries. However, that does not change the fact that the Taiwan-made Spydercos are inferior in quality to the US made ones. Additionally, I do not know what you mean by custom made knives being outsourced to Taiwan.. that would mean that the knife is not custom.

  • The steel may be limited edition.

  • to customtactical: Spyderco sends some of their knives to Taiwan but if you have actually had any from their current Taiwanese manufacturer you would have seen that they are better than the Japanese made knives. I mean look at the Sage 1 or the Gayle Bradly, they are flawless. I just got a Stretch 2 in ZDP189 and was missing screws, and the grind was off. Actually handle the knives before you make ignorant comments, it makes you look like you don't know what youre talking about.

  • I love the blade style but the line on the blade just takes away from the beauty of this blade.

  • "Zee Dee Pee" would be the correct pronunciation ;)

  • "zed" is how "z" is pronounced in Great Britain and other European nations.

  • The laminated steel also saves money, as not as much expensive ZDP189 is used.

  • Does that mean you are dickless now? On a side note, that poor dog.

  • @rezzoro7... No, but it does mean im now circumcized......

  • laminated spyderco :o

  • i have heard that if the knife doesnt have seki city on it, then it was sent to another manufacturer but made for spyderco. i think they did this on all the caly knives though so it sould just be trodition

  • Good review.

I love this knife, one of my favorite EDC. Feels awesome in the hand, holds an edge forever and is beautiful to look at.

  • Beautiful knife, I have the G10 Caly3 (also has those circular marks) but seriously considering the carbon fiber one now. Thanks for the vid!

  • spydercos always catch my eye.

  • Very nice! Great review! Thanks!

  • wow laminated, interesting, thanks for the review man.

  • I was wondering what the mark on the blade was! Never occurred to me it was Sal's signature! Sal is an excellent bloke by the way, really cares about his customers and his designs. Don't buy many Spydies as I prefer thumbstuds but I'm happy to support them when I do get one.

  • Great Review 5 stars!

  • I have this knife and love it. Nice knife to carry when you are dressed nice.

  • cool knife, great review 5/5

  • Beautiful knife....I love spyderco.

    Thanks CustomTacticals :)
