The problem with this is not the ants communicating, as many creatures communicate (whales are another example) but the fact that the Qur'an asserts that one ant said, "O you ants, go into your homes" as if ants do this all the time, which they don't. My back path is awash with trodden-on dead ants
@vernonpage Equally the quote implies that the ant 'said' but ants don't talk. They communicate by making clicking noises by rubbing part of their body with a limb to produce the sound. Ants don't have a voice box, so they cannot produce the words quoted by the Qur'an. If an all-powerful god had written the Qur'an he would have known this scientific detail and written into the Qur'an, but he didn't. You cannot claim that the Qur'an describes fact when it does NO SUCH THING.

The point is that one ant did commanded or asked the others to go into their homes using their way to communicate. Then God translated it to Arabic language so that it can be passed and understood by the prophet Muhammad s.a.w , then the Muslim translated it to English language.
The trouble for you is that you do not know if your god translated ant language into Solomon's language, or if instead, the god of Muhammad's imagination gave Solomon magical powers to understand ant language. You need to find out if you too have these magical powers. So next time you see a bunch of ants, ask them, "Hey, Ants! Do any of you know my name?"

The ants don't TALK. A rare species of South American Ant Solenopsis richteri (and a few others) make sounds by rubbing body parts (stridulation) which are barely audible (and a human in no way can decipher it).
Secondly, and most importantly, ANTS ARE DEAF!!! So they communicate only through chemicals.

The problem with this is not the ants communicating, as many creatures communicate (whales are another example) but the fact that the Qur'an asserts that one ant said, "O you ants, go into your homes" as if ants do this all the time, which they don't. My back path is awash with trodden-on dead ants

@vernonpage Equally the quote implies that the ant 'said' but ants don't talk. They communicate by making clicking noises by rubbing part of their body with a limb to produce the sound. Ants don't have a voice box, so they cannot produce the words quoted by the Qur'an. If an all-powerful god had written the Qur'an he would have known this scientific detail and written into the Qur'an, but he didn't. You cannot claim that the Qur'an describes fact when it does NO SUCH THING.

Was this uniquely for Solomon's army, or can we expect to witness ants stampeding in their flight from any army or even, for example, a crowd of football supporters? 'allah' used the word "said" ... you criticise me for pointing this out, but if the Qur'an is as scientifically sophisticated as many Muslims believe, then surely 'allah' would have used a more accurate description than "said" when describing ant communication? The point is that one ant did commanded or asked the others to go into their homes using their way to communicate. Then God translated it to Arabic language so that it can be passed and understood by the prophet Muhammad s.a.w , then the Muslim translated it to English language.

The ants don't TALK. A rare species of South American Ant Solenopsis richteri (and a few others) make sounds by rubbing body parts (stridulation) which are barely audible (and a human in no way can decipher it).
Secondly, and most importantly, ANTS ARE DEAF!!! So they communicate only through chemicals.

AND THATS WHAT THE ARTICLE IS ALL ABOUT. There is an infinitely big difference between making sound by rubbing and "talking". If you are really interested in this process, then read the journal articles which has been published in this field. The news made an over simplification of the reality.

1) Ants can identify an army as humans and not for example a flock of sheep. Also they are not any human (for example 10 kids) but an "army"

Also similar stuffs are in Aesop's fables. And both of them are 1000s of years before Qur'an. But do ants really talk? The answer is NO. Can an ant identify Solomon and his army? NO. Ants have very poor vision (and many species are blind). Do ants smell? Yes, but it has a primitive olfactory system. Please take a myth as myth.

There r many stories of Solomon talking with animals, insects, etc. Some are in Arabic, some in Hebrew. U r forgetting that during that times there were many Arabic Jews. And Mountains that are scared this really shouldn't be a wonder at all. @slicingwater When u say communicate it have nothing to do with talking, cause u cant say to a Mute person hes talking but u can say he communicate with signs so the Word Talk does not apply to a mute person. Same for many insects wich use Signals to communicate but u cant say all insects talk.
Bees communicate by "waggle dance" or "dance language" but they do not Talk.

@Garabsare Ants cannot communicate complex messages such as "hide in your nests, lest Solomon and his soldiers trample on you." Ants only use chemical signals to locate food and identify intruders. Ants don't hide in their nests, the soldier ants leave the nest to attack the intruders. Muhammed believed Jewish myths in the Talmud that said Solomon could understand the language of animals. It's the reason Muhammed invented the story of the talking ants in Quran 27.
