  • Where do you get this in the UK? There aren't many in the UK/seems easier to do this first than go into MMA

  • At least there are some sensable Mat areas

  • @the888CCCC its not full contact

  • What a great sport. Basically, modified MMA.

  • What's the difference between sport jj rules and mma rules?

  • Nice, some very impressive fighters.

  • are there any schools on the northwest that train like this besides just MMA? I like BJJ and striking arts but id rather train with both together. but no MMA i like using a GI.

  • What are the rules? Striking seems to be limited in both targets and force.

  • 2:33 untill next clip is the coolest!

  • How do you learn this?a ll i find is BJJ and traditional Jujitsu's...

  • JA Sport Jujitsu competition is open to all styles, providing equal opportunity for competitors from any style, whether striking, throwing, grappling, or ideally combining all, to compete successfully. We've been very pleased to have outstanding competitors from many styles of jujitsu, judo, hapkido, karate, tae kwon do, kenpo, kajukenbo, and others compete successfully at our events. So, it's not necessary to train in any singular method, but instead according to your own best practices.

  • @8ironmonkey heh... Iron Monkey was a total kickass King-Fu cult classic !

  • You shall look after Sport Ju Jutsu.

traditional jujutsu and sport jujutsu are 2 different styles

sport jujutsu is made for competitions

  • Nope.

First of all, traditional jujitsu looks more like Aikido locks and sumo and judo throws. Any school that claims it as traditional japanese jujitsu with newaza is pretty much a modern westernized jujitsu which is often influenced by wrestling, karate, and/or judo.

    Examples.

JJIF: one of the biggest promoters of sport jujitsu is judo+karate+german jujitsu (i think)

Jujitsu America's sport jujitsu is Danzan Ryu with emphasis in striking. Danzan ryu's ancestors include wrestling & judo.

  • @MMAfanFORsure you mean descendants, not ancestors since judo came after jujitsu not before

  • Not all MA's with groundwork come from bjj.

  • Sport Jujitsu is basicaly a japanese jujitsu tournament

  • @hazard2000 no,its a ruleset very like mma with lighter contact and no ground and pound, its not strictly any style.

  • Why do all bjj practicioners assume that all grappling is from bjj?

  • @MMAfanFORsure only novices assume that, the vets know bjj is judo with newaza emphasis

  • some useful leg lock techs are not avaliable in sport jj

  • True enough. The JA Sport Jujitsu rules allow for straight-line knee-bars and ankle locks, but not rotational locks on those joints in competition. The compromise is for competitor safety.

  • @Sanderschung some useful ground and pond isnt either and neither can ye drive over him in yer truck so it must be useless.

  • Looks good. Emphasis looks more on clean techs and safety, and fun. Good stuff.

  • I had a great time competing my first time last weekend at Disney World- Great video! I would love to do another one! I had a riot!

  • Awesome, very cool and exciting to watch! I love the continuous action, the throws, and the grappling. Looks like everyone is having fun.

  • Nice video - it looks like fun.

  • What I liked best about competing in Jujitsu America events was the good attitude of the other competitors. Everyone had good control and tried hard not to hurt their opponent. It felt (relatively) safe and fun to compete.

  • Continuous action, striking, throws, and ground work.

all in a safe and controlled environment.

Lots of fun to participate in and cool just to spectate.

  • Awesome video! Just an incredible way to show off jujitsu in a safe controlled manner. The action is continuous as well.

  • THIS is the way martial arts competition should be... punching, kicking, throwing and ground work; all done safely!

I would let my kids do this and would do it myself. AWESOME.
