Double lock ones have the keyhole on the side, not the face. They also don't use a wardrobe key, they use a standard key like the one you open a house with.
@JustinFromSydney double lock isnt much harder. Single lock you just go down, double you go up then down. Hard to explain in writing but it's as simple as it sounds.

A good friend of mine owns Peerless Handcuffs, the largest manufacturer of police handcuff in the U.S. A while back he gave me a set of standard chrome, single chain cuffs. I figured out how to bet out of them with a boby pin when the cuffs are oriented with the keyholes towards your hands. Turns out when cops cuff you, they point the keyhole away from your hands, thus requiring you to use your mouth to manipulate lock mechanism. It's pretty difficult.
Check the cuffs he was using. They are the cheap toy with the fat key hole. If he wanted to impress people, he should have used the ASP ones that were on the table there. At least those were a type PD would actually use.
well there is a flaw with this video. officer protocol calls for the cuffs to be double locked so that it will not close on your wrist anymore and you did not double lock the cuffs. if you can do it with the locks on and behind your back i think you might have something then,

You have a good point about the UK. Speedcuffing is used not in a scuffle, but when your subject is co-op so far, but will possibly figh as soon as they feel the metal. In a scuffle, you want accuracy and speed. Having the cuff being able to twist and turn, is a lot easier to apply. Also, using a wrist lock on a cuffed subject is causes more pain than using the cuffs to control. I didnt realize what cuffs they use in the UK. Thanks for pointing that out.

I am surprised only a few noticed they were not double locked. You will not get out of them like that then. Any good cop knows to double lock your cuffs.
I spent a lot more time on them, and now I can get out of any brand of ASP in less than a minute. The most difficult pair I have are Smith & Wesson - brand new - double locked. Very tough. It takes a dental pick to get them. Starting from behind the back is simply an issue of flexibility and "obesity". Slender, flexible people have no problem with it.
If you were actually handcuffed as though you were arrested, your hands would be behind your back with the keyholes facing up....kinda hard to do that with the keyhole not facing your hands.
If you knew you were going to be arrested maybe stab it under your skin horizontally in your arm, or if you've got a beer gut you could push it into the fat pretty easily.. the initial prick would hurt but as long as the pin wasn't filthy you wouldn't get infected or anything.. might be a bit hard pulling it out without being noticed though...
If you're flexible enough, you can get your hands back in front of you by getting your legs through them, or if double jointed, bend your arms right back.
Take those hinged handcuffs, hands behind your back, make sure that the keyholes are NOT facing your hands, and show us that you can pick the locks then.

Just slip your hands under your legs to the front. It's a lot easier than it sounds...and since police cuff you with the keyhole facing away, just do it with the pin in your mouth... (I've done it before, not escaping from police, but as an amateur escape artist)

Hang on but most if not all police forces hand cuff your hands behind you in either a stacked position or palm facing back of hand position and the key holes would be facing upwards, and I noticed you didn't double lock them, how would you undo the double lock with the pin?

I am surprised only a few noticed they were not double locked. You will not get out of them like that then. Any good cop knows to double lock your cuffs.

I spent a lot more time on them, and now I can get out of any brand of ASP in less than a minute. The most difficult pair I have are Smith & Wesson - brand new - double locked. Very tough. It takes a dental pick to get them. Starting from behind the back is simply an issue of flexibility and "obesity". Slender, flexible people have no problem with it.

If you were actually handcuffed as though you were arrested, your hands would be behind your back with the keyholes facing up....kinda hard to do that with the keyhole not facing your hands.

If you knew you were going to be arrested maybe stab it under your skin horizontally in your arm, or if you've got a beer gut you could push it into the fat pretty easily.. the initial prick would hurt but as long as the pin wasn't filthy you wouldn't get infected or anything.. might be a bit hard pulling it out without being noticed though...

Take those hinged handcuffs, hands behind your back, make sure that the keyholes are NOT facing your hands, and show us that you can pick the locks then.
