No the name of the song is Flat foot floozie. Back in the day a floozie was a whore. Don't take the funk out of the past, they had it and we have it, it's what keeps us humble.
@mrmabstoa and xargos ~ Don't dissect it, don't discuss it, just dig it, feel it, let it flow through your viens, cats. Sometimes you push the beat, sometimes you pull it back, sometimes you just let it beat.
@mrmaabstoa - You mean to tell me you watched this clip found something negetive to say about it. How could you see one bad thing that's not there out of the ten million wonderful things going on at the same time that are there? If you think Mr. Gaillard was confused, you are dead wrong cat, dead wrong! He had been playing jazz for 50 plus years by that time! But you think the great Slim Gaillard was confused?!? I'm just an ol' punk rock guitar player, but it pisses me off that you wrote that.
@mrmabstoa I noticed that Slim seemed a little (not a lot) off too. @ep13 I don't see how that can really be seen as disrespectful to notice something like that. After all, do the best musicians in the world play perfectly every time at any age? I think not, since they're human like the rest of us. It was a good performance but not his best. That's all.
I have been listening/Lindy Hopping to Slim and Slam for quite a while, without having watched one of their performances (other than Hellzapoppin'). This video is my first and it definitely brings a tear to the eye. Is anybody aware of any modern musicians that have a comparable style, sound, rhythm, comedic flare, etc?
The alto player is David Sanborn, right? Great video, too bad Slam Stewart (of Slim & Slam fame) isn't on this - long dead when they recorded this, I guess.
My father recorded this song during World War II after he had been wounded and sent the record to his mother. This was just to assure her that he was recovering.

Our trio was on the same bill for several weeks and I got to know Slim.
Terrific musician, entertainer and all round jazz pillar.
Thanks for this reminder of a legend.

@ep13 Sorry, I really enjoyed the clip and am a fan of Slim owning a large collection of his records.
I just was observing that due to his age he seemed like he was off on his timing.
As I said in my first comment its a great clip!

Great sound! Looks like he was a little confused as to when to come in during the sax solo.

Sanborn burns! Slim looks and sounds great! Must've been a few years before his death. Loving it.

Yes, that's David Sanborn. He and Jools Holland, the guy giving the intro, were the hosts of the show.
