Dammit. This show! I've watched a lot of TV shows. A lot of TV shows I've truly, madly loved. A lot of TV shows I've never wanted to end. And I strongly believe quality is a subjective thing when it comes to art, so I can't say this show is the "best" show I've ever seen. But I can say without any hesitation that this is the show I wanted to continue more than any other, and loved more than any other, in my 29 years on this planet. And it gets... thirteen... episodes. Proof life isn't fair. :(

I can't see it being on ABC, CBS, or NBC. PBS is right out... so that left cable, which meant SYFY. Unfortunately, SYFY was overburdened at the time; still young and trying to get properly on their feet. There's no way they could've taken on yet another new show. It was FOX or nothing.

In every other show or movie, the cliched "you've just made your worst enemy" kitsch would have taken off and the hero would constantly be on the run from the psychopath who threatens him like this guy threatened Mal. Kicking him into the engine was simply predictable formula-shattering genius.

The other series that I wanted to keep going was Star Trek Enterprise. I didn't even watch the series when it aired but when I got a job overseas then I was in the mood for more Sci-Fi. It took a few episodes to get into it but by the end of season one it was like a marathon. Was bummed that it stopped at season 4.

I love watching the beginning of the futuram movie bender's big score where they rip on the fox executives that cancelled them, terminator the sarah connnor chronicles, and firefly, and they do it by saying that the fox executives were ground up into a little powder that can be used to treat itches in your private parts.

As much as I hate the fact that firefly got cancelled, I'm glad that at least some of the actors went on to find success, like Nathan Fillion in Castel, and Adam Baldwin in Chuck, both of which I am happy to say have not been cacelled yet, and at least adam baldwin pays homage to Jayne on Chuck with great little one liners and a big reference to this big damn heroes moment when he comes down from the ceiling while shooting up the bad guys in the Chuck season 2 finale.
