Do most American-born Asians can speak their own language?
One thing I've always notice about Asian-Americans (especially the Filipino Americans) is that most of them can't even speak their native language nor worst is that they don't even understand it while we (Asian Asians) can speak TWO languages. Yes, most of us have that thick accent but at least we can speak and understand two languages.

Do most American-born Asians can speak their own language?
One thing I've always notice about Asian-Americans (especially the Filipino Americans) is that most of them can't even speak their native language nor worst is that they don't even understand it while we (Asian Asians) can speak TWO languages. Yes, most of us have that thick accent but at least we can speak and understand two languages.

I was born and raised in shanghai china till i was 10. So im not even a first generation australian. I can speak fluent english without an accent while still able to maintain fluency in both mandarin and shanghainese dialect.
I love both asian and american entertainment, knowing full well of everything new coming out of asia.

Right now, I have a major crush on this asian guy who rides my bus. We talk, and he is one of the nicest, sweetest people I know. Actually it's a very simple concept.
Asian Americans (Chinese) believe in elected government.
Asians (Mandarin Chinese) are against voting.
I got into a discussion with one of my Chinese friends and he was totally against any form of election. He was hyperpatriotic and wouldn't accept criticism of China of it's leaders.
My Asian American friend was apathetic towards politics, but he said voting is a fundemental right.

Why do not you use word 'Oriental' instead of 'Asian'. When you fill up any government of university form and you are supposed to answer what is your ethenical background, you select 'Asian', but that is true for any person coming from asian continent,including Russians, Turks,etc. What you mean by 'Asian' is 'Oriental', or I would recommend you to enhance the definition of slang 'Asian' you use to identify 'Orientals'.

My boyfriend who is Japanese told me that he is sometimes irritated by the Asian Americans he meet when he goes to the usa because he thinks that the Asian Americans are trying to hard to personify white american culture. He also noticed how a lot of asian americans try to distance themselves from african americans if they want to be respected. I have noticed myself that in asian countries like Japan and Thailand etc..that Asian people seem more comfortable in their own skin.
