its called a dead note, just keep you finger on the string but don't put pressure to the fretboard. That's one way and there is also another way of playing that part that sounds a lot better but is a ton harder. You play it with 2 strings. So instead of the X you play the 9th fret on the D string. It needs to be palmmuted tho. And all of those X's are the same note!!! thats important...
