  • The movie sucked. An asian would of been a lot better. Who ever is better should get the role. Clearly who was ever acting in it doesn't have a clue how to act the part. Anyone that thought the movie was good has a low standard.

  • Not only that, but it is quite obvious that the fire nation was portrayed as an Asian culture in the animated series, clearly not Indian as in the movies. And many terms used in the movie are cultural bias.

  • And if you want to know why it's racist. Than how about a summary of the movie. A scene of eastern settings, a monks temple, Chinese ships known as junks, and then many, many Inuit, Indian, and Asian actors only to have each of them with a white actor with speaking parts. It was like, I'm sorry I can't even look at you damned ugly Asian I need a white person to speak. People who can't sense the racism obviously have never been a victim of being unprovoked racism.

  • The point is that America is a melting pot. And if that kid was the best Aang martial artist who captured the spirit of the character I would support this movie. However I am highly skeptical considering there are a "billion Chinese" *jking* But in truth the kid was a block of wood and there are plenty of Chinese American, or Asian Americans who could have portrayed at the very least Aang. this was not the case in this movie.

  • I can't believe be are being so stupid as claiming that the movie is racist. They are most likely the same idiots that think Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was racist because they cast a black guy to play the black ranger.

  • Yellow power! LOL

  • @mongoose979 racist much, jackass?

  • This is not working you need to change your stratergy getting a bunch of people to read the same paragraph sounds like a one person campaign against this movie, I wonder if half these people even know what the last Airbender is. You have succeeded in turning what is a very serious matter in to a Adolescence farce.

    GOOD JOB...

  • I believe this movie is racist based on the fact that they did not cast asian actors with red eyes to portray the Fire Nation. There is an abundance of asian actors with red eyes that could have played this role half as good as the actors of the film did.

I'm sorry, but this notion is simply ridiculous. Are there asians with red or yellow eyes in real life? Give me a friggin' break here. Everyone has to get so upset about something to silly? Wow... I agree with HammerOfPink here.

  • Uh... white people aren't the majority of the cast... Iroh is Iranian I think, and Zuko is Indian. I'm sure the kid who plays Aang is at least part Asian. Ozai is played by a guy who is Maori, the indigenous polynesian people of New Zealand. While I agree it is a bit weird to see white actors portraying people like Katara and Sokka, I do not think that it was done purposely to the extent of racism.

  • @HammerOfPink Commander Zhao is portrayed as an Indian Guy and we all kno that Zhao is a chinese word

  • @Pokemonmasters4ever

Zhao may be a Chinese word, but Zhao is not Chinese. Avatar takes place on another world, perhaps in a galaxy far, far away. A distant planet that has platypus bears and flying bison. None of the races of people in Avatar can be compared to those of planet Earth. This movie is not racist at all. I think this racebending campaign is silly.

  • @HammerOfPink Although I personally dont give a fk about this POS of a movie, I had to comment on your ridiculous statement. Everything about the anime is Chinese, dipshit. Or did you miss the chopsticks, Chinese language, buddhist scriptures, Chinese buildings, Chinese characters and the Chinese names (just to name a few). Youre hopeless. They even had the Great Wall in the anime. And Aang is a character based on Son Goku (Chinese mythology). Just like Goku from DragonBall was based on son goku

  • @Elbottoo

Yeah... BASED on Chinese mythology, but it's not Chinese mythology, it's its own story in itself. I'm not stupid. The Chinese is quite obvious, but that doesn't mean it has to be portrayed by Chinese actors. Racebending doesn't seem to realize how racist they are being themselves when they run this retarded campaign. No, while it is BASED on Chinese stuff, it doesn't mean everyone in the movie has to be Asian. Anyone could be chosen to depict members of an alien race, not just asians.

  • @HammerOfPink Lmao u idiot. Half the shit you see in the movies are based. Kratos and God of war aint greek mythology either. Its BASED on greek mythology. And neither are Jason and the argonauts or clash of the titans greek mythology because they are "BASED" on greek mythology. Whats the difference. Only a moron would make such a distinction. Fact is that avatar is fully based on Chinese mythology. If you dont like it, suck a man dick and go hang yourself. Cos nothing you say, will change that

  • @Elbottoo

I'm not an idiot, and calling me one won't make me one. I know it's based, but that doesn't mean that it is. Avatar takes place on an entirely different planet, so it's not like certain races on earth were MADE to portray the people in Avatar. I never said I didn't like that Avatar was based on Chinese mythology. You're just retarded because you don't even understand what I'm saying. So stop arguing about something I'm not even talking about.

  • @Elbottoo

this is 3 months old....but.....um...you're just simply (how to put it)...wrong. Avatar is not "FULLY" based on Chinese mythology. There are greek elemtns, british elements, hindu, 1960 hippies, rednecks from louisiana bayou, japanese and tibetan elements, german elements, and a series of other cultural influences. Have you even seen the show?

  • @HammerOfPink The 4 elements based on Chinese mythology and even the fighting styles are based on Chinese Kung Fu. Bagua, Tai Chi Quan and Northern Shaolin.

  • @Elbottoo

Yeah I knew that. I'm not stupid. You are for not seeing the point I'm trying to make. We're all one race - human. So anyone who gets angry that there is a white person here and there is pretty much a hypocrite. I'm not saying white people should depict everyone, I'm saying it shouldn't matter because we're all just people. Especially if they're depicting characters from a totally different world.

By the way, your language is rude. You're an asshole. At least be polite when debating

  • @HammerOfPink You sure are stupid, clown. This movie is gonna flop hard whether you like it or not. Make a point about that, sucker. hahaha.

  • @Elbottoo

I am not stupid, nor a clown. You telling me that won't make me believe that I am, so your words are wasted. I don't know if it's going to flop. I'm not sure if it's a good movie or not. But I am not letting the race of the characters prevent me from getting a ticket to see it in theatres, because I'm not an uptight prick. And I don't care if it flops or not. It's not my movie.

  • @HammerOfPink Yea you are stupid and you are a clown, son. From the very first moment you spoke, you already got your facts wrong. I just chose not to continue debating with you in that direction. But that does not make you a clown. You a clown, son. A clown. Think about that fool.

Go defend this racist pos of a flop some more. See if anyone gives a fking shit. Avatar = asian. Deal with it.

  • This fake they tell the people in the street to say it for some money believed I saw this chick when they where filming her and she told me that they paid her. to say the line and if u looked at all the videos they same shit just change the name and location. So BUSTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • how weak not even an Avatar fan!!

  • this is a free country full of diverse races, and by saying only asians deserve these roles makes you the same as the casting you are fighting against.

  • @SierraaRei

thank you. A denial of ANYONE due to phenotype is the definition of discrimnation, no matter what.

  • @SierraaRei asians bearly get roles in movies anyway, so doing this would have given them a boost

  • ROFL

  • okay the firebenders arent asian, if you watch the updates. there mediteranian.

the airbenders are asian. Theres so many different races that arent ment to be offensive in anyway. everyone is taking this too far. its a movie.

  • The only white people in the main cast are Katara and Sokka. Literally everyone else (Aang, Iroh, Princess Yue, Zuko, Toph etc.) are all Asian. M. Night Shyamalan spent a lot of time trying to pick the best actors for the parts, and two of them happened to be white. He even seriously considered an asian Katara and Sokka for a long time, but decided Jason and Nicola were just better for the parts.

It has nothing to do with Paramount, it has to do with M. Night looking for the best actors.

  • @HoraceGoodspeed your stupid ~_~ im just saying

  • just a rehtorical question, but WHY do you think it is racist? someone give me a good reason, no retarded answers please.

  • lmao i didnt understand shyt she said xD

  • M Night chose these actors because they did a better job, and that is racist? just because someone may look like the character doesnt mean they can act, and this was the case. quality before looks. but hey, you're "making a statement" to big bad Paramount and M Night who are OBVIOUSLY white supremecists. you're going to miss out on a good movie, and that's not my problem. why are people today so sensitive to crap like this? lack of intellegence i guess.

  • they should not have even messed with an already perfect series. This movie is gonna suck, it doesnt work when you make live action films from successful animated series. it never works. !0/10 the animated series are always better. I mean look at dragonball Z

  • @pacomonkey007

I know, I hate when a book or animated series are made into a movie. They never end up pleasing their fans.

  • I CHALLENGE ALL WHO BELIEVE THIS IS RACIST. If you feel this is truly racist email me at fortheairbender@hotmail

  • @jks2death

Im sure you would think spiderman is racist if spiderman was asian in the movie. You know the actors do not look a like actors can practice to be closer to the character in teh episodes.

  • @MKBEntertainment

I wouldn't think spiderman would be racist because if he were asian than he would be asian end of story i would still enjoy it. I'm tired of people finding every small thing to make it into racism. But by wanting all asians in this movie wouldn't that be racisit?

  • what?

  • Wny can't we have an asian spiderman? Will YOU complain lol.

  • basing your opinon of a movie by the actors' race is a fucking shame. youre all racist for boycotting the movie

  • @C0PAF4CE

Current actors do not match teh position. Actors that cannot do the port naturally in teh movie should not be in it. You must be blind if you cannot see the difference in the actors. Your an idiot if you cannot see that and still support the direction at which this movie is going dejavu dmz evolution all over again. now go QQ

  • The character's in the animated series, Avatar - The Last Airbender are all one of the four following races. Water Tribe, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation or Air Nomads. All are fictional ethnic groups that live within in the fictional world that was created by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko. Asian people do not exist in this world, neither do African's, Australian's nor American's. Therefore no one particular race qualifies as being a better choice to play the parts of any character.

  • You boycotters are all STUPID!!!!

Stop saying that this movie is "white-washed."

I'm asian and I'm still supporting the movie.

You guys should read more about the of what Shyamalan has to say!!

  • @darkninja18

Movie is not accurate and your not asian

  • @MKBEntertainment Accurate meaning not the right characters?? You know it's difficult for them cast the RIGHT characters and what if those actors aren't good huh? And yes I am asian and I am not racist like you.

  • @darkninja18

LOL you just want white actors you racist piece of shit you can go adhead and keep support the movie. If they can't make the movie work and end up like dragonballz they can go adhead. There are plenty of failure movies. I AM asian you are clearly not. Stop pretending to be asian. If the actors aren't good, they can be trained to do it ever though about that option? they can be guided to do it.

  • @MKBEntertainment Oh my gosh listen to yourself. You know this movie is going to consist of different ethcities right?? Who cares if the asians aren't the main characters and besides the animated series doesn't say anything about them being asians at all... geez you're so hotheaded... calm down... then again as far as seeing your comments... I think you're the one who is racist.... not me... so I'll end it here.

  • @darkninja18

It is about who is more suitable. Some people looks and fit more naturally with the character, I have seen the series. Some people's culture effect how a person would act... and would naturally perform well especially the voice. Now go take a look at the auditions on youtube and also compare the character too the series and see how "off" it is.

  • omg if your not a fucken fan what the fuck are you talking about .....get fucken lost asian bitch im not racist but got this stupid ppl make me sick....they dont even know what they talking about and they put they stupid sorry asses out there in front of the camera to talk shit of something they dont even know what it is hahaha...anyways..get a life

  • @izzyflameboy

stfu you racist bitch, want another failure movie its coming!

  • boycotting???!!!! your reasons are nonsense!!! i'm a pure ASIAN but i don't feel the RACISM you were talking about!!! HAHAHA. you all will not ruin the movie. The trailer(s) are NICE and GOOD....EXCITED TO WATCH IT! WATCH BEFORE JUDGE!!! XD

  • You have no idea what races they're going to include in the movie. For example, M. Night just stated recently that the entire Earth and Fire nation will be made up of Asians. That's more than the majority of the entire Avatar fictional planet! Water and air nations have the smallest populations, and they're the only characters that will be casted as white. So please stop boycotting something that doesn't make sense.

  • I mean why are the main charcters white? Clearly, they are NOT white during the show? I mean its bad enough they made it a "live action" movie ... which I mean... I was cool with .. I'm open to change ... but then they picked a eh director ... and now you tell me the charcters are white? I am going to investigate this. I know this can't be happening in the 21st century. I just know it.

  • Its so obvious someone put these people up to this. She's smiling the whole time. Like, um, get a life.

  • Awesome Keanne! Boycott this garbage. It's beyond lopsided.

  • STOP PAYING PEOPLE TO SAY SOMETHING THAT YOU BELIVE IN.

You have to be The biggest bunch of Retards i have ever seen. I never comment on Youtube Videos but this one i have to. THE movie isn't About being Black or white or Asian w/e. Its about The character itself, and more of The personality not skin color. YOU NOTICE THE DIRECTOR? HES not exactly white... This movie Is going to be AMAZING. like im killing my self waiting for it. ITs for entertainment, and the storyline.

  • i dont know why the hell i keep watching these videos! im wasting my life!!! but actually im doing this to play my part in shutting up you eejits!!! no one has made a convincing argument so far!!! i support the last airbender and all the actors and i like m.night shaymalan for making this movie at long last. i owe him alot personally and so do all of the REAL fans! if you want to boycott thats your buisess not the rest of the worlds buisness!!! GET A LIFE im gonna see this movie p.s your a loser

  • @sokkacool lol serously... This is a fucking movie on nicolodean. These people should be to old to even talk about this movie. If the asians dont like it then they should keep it to themselfs. Maibie they should move to asia if they hate seeing white people. I find their comments racist to me.

  • @poker212360 to true. :)

  • @poker212360 "If the asians dont like it then they should keep it to themselfs" Seriously? You say something like that, then call someone else racist! Go back to england you KKK bitch!

  • @tcmorcm im nothing like the kkk im not racist, i have a colored printer

  • @tcmorcm

Why keep it to ourselves? the movie is going to be inaccurate and cause disappointment. you should stfu and keep that comment to yourself.

  • @MKBEntertainment Would ppl stfu and keep it to themselves if the cartoon was about African characters and culture? I dont think so. But because its only Asians, we americans either dont care, make exuses or like poker applaude the discriminaton.

  • @tcmorcm

The you keep it too yourself and stfu. Why not just make the film accurate in looks and get good actors. Im sure not every american is like you; a failure, if you were the president you would be a disgrace to teh entire country. Go fk off elsewere. American racism ugh.

  • this video is sad stop wasting youtube bandwidth space. we need it!!!!! o no!!!!!! Im gonna boycott this!!!!!!! =D <3 ya all =p stupid racist asians making fun of white people like that boo hoo Im soo sad =(=(=(=((((((( spam spam spam spam spam asdfjaksd;hfuialsdhfuilasdhfuilasdfghuailsdhfjl231456785432456789065432567890-9654325678906544490876590[87658976547897658976543

  • I SUPPORT THE LAST AIRBENDER

  • @Aang7777 I AM TOTALLY WITH YOU

  • go to the theaters and boycott and shout "racist racist racist" to those who just watched it...

  • its just a movie ppls

you don't have to watch it if you don't want to

  • what the hell is this..this isnt doing anything for its real purpose....how can people take this seriously ...

  • OK, all of you make a pretty strong point, but there is a video I think you need to see. It is a video called The Last Airbender Movie Update #8 - Score Composition. The video's maker has created a whole series of updates just for this movie. It is #8 in particular that I believe you need to watch (at least the first half of it) It sort of explains that there IS diversity of nationalities in this movie and it is not entirely a white cast.

  • You see this crap? He just gets people to read a script. BS. Get a life.

  • They don't HAVE to read from the script, it just keeps the video short so that more people can have time to watch it. By the way, if you don't like the video, then don't watch it.

  • The problem is you, You become the racist by labeling charcters as 'asian' 'inhwit' 'black' 'white', They're "air nomads'' 'watertribals' ' people of the earth nation" it doesnt matter who they look as long as you understand what region they hail from. That isn't the point of the series as much tention between cultures and a band of kids from different parts of the world, INCUDING the antagonists, to resolve a war.

  • The creators of the show used Asians cultures specifically in order to portray the story correctly. They used specialists to help them with the clothing, the translations, the martial arts, the acting, and various other points of the show. While this may appear a simple argument between fans and those who don't give a damn, simply casting Caucasians goes against what the creators originally intended.

Geez, I'm not Asian but even I understand this... >.>

  • how do you know they purposefully cast only caucasians? you are all jumping to conclusions and blowing this way out of proportion. did you notice all the voice-overs in the cartoon are white??

  • It's one thing if it's American culture which is a sort of mix. It would be difficult to determine it from such things, I admit. It's another if it's a fantasy world specifically created by a couple of people with the full intention of showing the specific race.

  • there was no intention of "showing a specific race." The intention was to show a specific set of ethnicities.

  • Oh, I'm sorry, that's what I meant. My point is, you can't see those ethnicities in the casting, can you? While you can argue that there may not be any concrete evidence that shows what ethnic group is being shown because it's a cartoon, there have been studies based on the design and the creators confirmed it. (That being the Inuit, Yupik, East Asian, Tibetan, and Shaolin)

  • oh no doubt. :-)

I believe the characters ARE Tibetan, East Asian, Inuit, etc...but these are simply ethnicities, not races. So with this, anyone, of any phenotypic nature, can play any of these roles.

  • @MiraLyu and yet M. Night has gone to them for advice, and they support him in his vision of the film. they have not criticized him, so maybe you people are assuming too much.

  • @MiraLyu

I'm a fan, and I've chosen to watch this movie because I feel boycotting against the movie is boycotting against these actors who have worked hard and are looking for support. I think denying them that and calling the casting choice racist is unfair. Ther IS diversity in the casting. bottom line.

  • @kizzy75 Feel free to support them! I just, personally, feel that he could have done a better job at giving more equal opportunities for casting. But honestly, you can't pretend that there's no problem with something when a bunch of people are saying there is a problem. This whole thing started because a bunch of people who felt their visions of a show, that were for the most part similar, shatter because of a single man with his single vision.

  • @MiraLyu

what you just listed were cultural markers, i.e. ethnic elements. That is all it is to be Asian. Asian is not a genetic marker...it is not phsyical. You can be black and be Asian. You can be black and be European. You can be white and be Asian. Cultural markers do not point to phenotypical structure.

  • @keitaro202 ...Race has everything to do with Genetics, dude...sure you can be a black or white person living in Asia, and you can consider yourself Asian, but you do not have the genetic traits that we have determined to be Asian. You are simply a black or white person who, at one point or another, moved to Asia.

  • @MiraLyu

um...no. What genetics book can you source that supports this ignorant view? Name me one book that says the Asian "race" is a genetic feature. If you cannot, you're making stuff up as you go.

  • @MiraLyu

at the same time, why do you assume all whites and blacks moved to Asia. They could be born there. There is nothing "genetically" Asian. There is no Asian gene. Again, if you disagree, I'd like you to source some proof of this blatant attempt to sound scientific without any evidence.

  • @keitaro202 Well, duh, I'm not an expert, but it's what I perceived to be the truth from what I've learned and I've got no exact piece of evidence with the exception of what I learned from Darwin. Where you live will slowly affect your genetic code as you adapt to that environment. Back when there was no way of meeting people across the world, people settled and then, due to their locations, adapted to the environment, developing specific traits. We see this because of the similarity of the...

  • @MiraLyu appearance between those we now call "Asians". Over time this may change, but because we have determined those people who have developed this slight environmental change to be Asian, people who simply move there from, say, Africa as not "Asian". They are African, because their genetic code is from Africa, and are only living in Asia.

  • @MiraLyu yes, there are genetic markers, but the genetics have nothing to do with ethnicity. Ethnicity are markers based on culture, race is a social categorization based on PHYSICAL markers. "ASIAN" is not a PHYSICAL marker, it is a cultural one. Using chopsticks, speaking chinese, etc are cultural markers that indicate ETHNICITY. But speaking chinese, using chopsticks, doing m artial arts, etc,DOES NOT indicate phenotype. To confuse a cultural marker with a physical one is a dangerous slope.

  • @MiraLyu

there is nothing particularly "ASIAN" about a set of phenotypes beyond the banal observation that certain people look a certain way in region X, Y, and Z. In fact, humans didn't evolve drastically once they reached "asia," whatever that is. If anything, people unlike "ASIANS" were the first "ASIANS." You're simply trying to argue a point which has no scientific basis.

  • @keitaro202 People grew up in Asia, and, over time, developed certain features. A genetic marker passed down over time allows for people who have said marker to maintain these features that we have determined to be "Asian". That is all that I've been arguing. What I don't like about the movie, is that, while it is taking place in a world that was based around Asia, there are no Asians in the main casts. While it isn't incorrect, and appearances in the culture don't matter, I believe...

  • @MiraLyu

I see what you are trying to say but it isn't founded. What were those "certain" features that came about over time? Fact: there is more phenotypic variation within a given population than between them. There is no set of phenotypic structures that we can determine, consistently, to be "ASIAN." Just because someone fails to have a certain phenotype does NOT allow the denial of that person to an ethnic identity. I hope you realize that many russians are white, and they are in asia

  • @keitaro202 While what you say may be true, you need to remember that there is a cultural commonality. People want to be able to see these characters portrayed correctly. In this case, sure, the actors portraying the characters in Avatar MIGHT be some form of Asian that match the role they are playing. My point: they aren't. Aang doesn't fit the Shaolin Monk category because he has no direct ties to it genetically or ethnically. And neither did the director attempt to portray the movie as such.

  • @MiraLyu

any sorrd, there is no cultural commonality. There are cultures which are composed of a HUGE set of phenotypic variation. There is not a single culture on this planet where everyone in the said culture shares a unique phenotypicic set.

  • @keitaro202 You fail to understand what I mean. I meant that when you think of a certain culture, you instantly assume certain features that they possess as a whole. This film fails to portray that.

  • @MiraLyu , I understand your position better than you think. You said that when you think of a certain culture you assume certain features that they possess as a whole. But there is NO COMMON PHENOYTPIC FEATURE which any culture shares as a whole.

  • @keitaro202 And, again, I refuse to argue this on a scientific standpoint because my point is purely on the social perspective of this topic. Whether you like it or not, when you think of a certain race, you WILL think of certain features. We without meaning to in order to avoid confusion based on the information we have been exposed to. This movie simply fails to fulfill this point.

  • @keitaro202 *we do this without meaning to....

  • @keitaro202 that this movie fails to respect it. Particularly in the method that was used to advertise for the casting. To each his own.

  • @MiraLyu thank you!!!!!

  • Wow. The girl in this video is a moron.

  • @babelbell:

Just joined youtube and showing ignorance already?

Isn't it fun being anonymous and being able to insult people over the net?

  • got to start somewhere. I never had a youtube account until now. I don't know what you mean by being anonymous. I made an account to post responses. Besides, what am I ignorant about? I'd like you to please point out the factual details of which I have thus been supposdely proven ignorant about.

  • im calling raceism on the people making the God of war movie the guy playing Kratos is black how the fuck are you going to have a black guy playing a pale whit Spatan warrior?

  • @corysilery:

I suppose the same way they had black actors portray Persians in "300".

Whilst having a white actor portray the Prince of PERSIA.

Wonder if they'll really cast a black actor for the role? Tell me, what are the chances of that happening?

  • The simple fact of the matter is nobody knows Aang's race. I grant you that Sokka and Kitara are inuit or some such thing, but Aang could be caucasian or asian, nobody knows. I personally think he looks more caucasian than anything, but I can't say for sure. People boycotting this movie based on that would be like if I boycotted it if they casted Aang as an asian cause I think he's white. Ridiculous in either scenario. So everyone just stop bitching to feel important and see the damn movie.

  • the boycotters are just another group trying to promote rascism in thei own way, a civil and organized rascism is still rascism.

  • LOL.

alrighty guys, my friend is KOREAN and MIDDLE EASTERN and she's not offended at all.

i don't get offended when 'like like like' movies 'like like like' Diary of a Mad BLACK Woman or Slumdog Millionaire come out and have no white people in them?!

you DO understand that by making these videos you aren't changing anything. you're just instilling the need for a race seperation.

    jesus.

  • @afersure:

Did you get angry when Lord of the Rings or Golden Compass came out? True to the work of a Eurocentric mythos = white

Never seen Diary. As for Slumdog Millionaire. What are the chances of White Americans growing up in an Indian Slum?

Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman was going to filmed. The deal fell through when the Studio wanted to turn the black characters into white protagonists.

I guess the studio wanted diversity by turning the descendants of an African god into White.

  • what are the chances of Asian people growing up in a world without an Asia?

  • @keitaro:

They have it now in this film.

The Asian fetishists wet dream without the pesky Asians.

  • I really don't know what you're trying to get at. Please don't respond to my comments if you have nothing of any import to say. I'd be happy to respond to an intelligently laid out question. I would also be happy to respond to a valid argument presented with claity. But I find it difficult to respond to you when you fail to present your thoughts in a clear manner. There may be meaningful content buried within your posts. I just can't find it yet. That may be a failure on my part, but please try.

  • @Keitaro:

Than I suggest you stop spamming this channel.

I posted some links. Watch the videos and read the paper by Rusell K. Robinson.

Casting and Caste-Ing: Reconciling Artistic Freedom and Antidiscrimination Norms

  • huh? How am I spamming? I'm not soliciting anything or commercializing anything either? Now I'm really confused. I'll read the paper you suggested...but I don't see what that has to do with anything. Nor will it give me any new information I don't already probably know. I'm againt racism and that has been my intent all along: to fight against racist terminology, soooo...? I think you have my intentions confused.

But I'll try not to spam any more products in the mean time...

  • I'm not arguing with you about Hollywoods reputation. I've never argued with you on that point as I haven't disagreed. Holywood has had a teribble run in racist casting. That's not what I have been arguing. I don't think I've ever argued against that. You must be getting me confused with someone else. I'm arguing against those who use "Asian" as a racial term. I'm arguing that it makes no sense to say that someone looks or doesn't look "asian." That's my only point at the given moment.

  • If you think its rascist, then dont watch it? stop being selfish and ruining it for other people with open minds. For one i dont care if its an asian or a white guy ( im asian btw ), really know what happen to its "its the 20th century" talk srsly :(

  • Search youtube:

    The Slanted Screen.

    Do some research.

  • For all you ppl who say this isnt racist or discrimination check out "the slanted screen" here on youtube to see how Hollywood casts male asian roles.

And please stop saying the original 4 white casted heros can act. Only 1 was in a major movie and how many lines did he have? 1 is a teeny pop singer and 1 has no acting experience at all!

  • yes, take a documentary as authority in such issues. That's the way to go.

  • There is no such thing as being objective when it comes to racism. There's only the difference between people who understand that racism exists and people who have the privilege to ignore it.

  • So you guys must hate the series because all the voice actors for series are white

  • @disturbed:

    Do some research.

  • suck a dick

  • You know what, this thing s only going for people over 15, kids would just watch the movie because it is a real life avatar movie, they wouldn't care if its racist despite they know racism or not. My brother doesn't care and he's 7 and knows about racism

  • @disturbedassassin:

What do you mean? It's okay because the ones watching will not know the film is racist?

    Does that make it right?

  • see this is wat pisses me off pple like this causeing comintion about a movie that hasent even came out yet like wat the fuck dude ok so wat if some of the cast isent asia dude so wat if you assholes have seen the cartoon the yall would know that there are only a few pple in the cartoon that are aisaen i dident see yall boycotting dragonball i hope all the pple that boycotting this movie see this SHUT THE FUCK UP AND GO SEE THE MOVIE FIRST OK WHY THE FUCK DOSE EVEYTHING HAVE TO BE ABOUT RACE

  • I could barely understand what you wrote.

I suggest you take remedial English lessons.

  • Like you, the fans of the series just want a faithful adaption of Avatar. Why not cast an Asian? I think that's the point that they are trying to make. With regards to race, I agree with you. At the same time, understand the other perspective. Looking at the breadth of films in the American market today, there are few that have Asians as leads (if any). It can be frustrating to feel misrepresented in the media. Anyway, let's not kill each other over this.

  • Let's think REAL LIFE for a sec, IT'S A MOVIE!!!!! It doesn't HAVE to be perfect! IT'S THERE FOR ENTERTAINMENT USE

It doesn't matter AT ALL weather or not the actors are white unless it has somthing to do with the character's personaliy and personal background, like Zuko's scar and Katara's necklace, race has nothing to do with it.

  • @Slavelabor:

Wonder how the fans of Star Trek and Lord of the Rings would react with the sentence. "It's a movie. "

This Paramount production is so far from perfect, it boggles the mind.

They have turned a diverse film into another example of Hollywood Systemic racism.

  • 3 people are white

  • crap u dont even no whatur say why boycott a movie if u dont like the the show

  • "Katara not black and she is not white so what they show have done is pick a girl who is not pale if you look at the cartoon she can go for black or Eskimonian and the same thing for Sokka they need to stick truly to what we see on the cartoon show"

  • *clapping* good job on your petition, you look like you so good, I mean using your sunglasses to hide that your looking down and not to mention the fact I can see the script from your glasses, I bet you didn't get 20 dollars for this (just so you know, its sarcasm)

  • response to pokemon3554.

True they never said Aang was Asian. However the air nomads sure looked Asian to me. Then what about Katara and Soka. Are you going to tell me they are white. Whit washing has been a thing in hollywood. It will never stop, until we as fans, stand together united as one and make them.Hit them where it hurts. They could have had an asian theme, look at croching tiger. Don't forget about the races CW network. Channel 11 pix

  • Air Nomads didn't look Asian to me, and I'm Asian. Maybe it was that they wore Asian clothing and had an Asian styled haircut, that made you believe they were Asians. But couldn't Lations do that too? But does that mean they are Asian? No.

You're right, though, about standing united. But we are not united, we, as Avatar fans, have very different views. I will stick with my views and you, with yours, so how can we stand united?

But I will stand with you when something actually racist comes out

  • Dude, she's not even an AVATAR FAN. . .

some freak with a camera just went around and had a bunch of non white people say stuff against this movie.

If you're all so wide and diverse, then why do you all sound the same? Stop reading a script and say how YOU feel.

P.S. Thanks for not going. More seats my friends and I.

  • thanks for going

people like you is the reason why

    passive racism still exist

    kudos to you =]

    /sarcasm

  • I'm not a passive racist, I'm just not picking up my banner for every cause under the son just because I dont like the casting of a movie.

  • who says I dont like the cast?

I like dev Patel and Noah Ringer looks ok for aang...but

did you see the casting call specifically ask for white actors?

did you see them produce 4 white actors(including Jesse Mcartney )

its a good thing Jesse was replaced or else the whole 4 nations would have been white...

do you know what happens to asian americans in Hollywood?

(I suggest watch the slanted screen)

Mako the voice of Iroh is in there....

    seriously link it all together...

  • When do you think you should complain?

21 - Bringing down the house

    Speed Racer

    Dragonball?

    The ones after ATLA:

    Akira

    Cowboy Bebop

    Evangelion

    Bubblegum Crisis.

When? Or it doesn't matter to you about systemic racism in Hollywood?

  • Cowboy Bebop... isn't Spike white (or am I totall wrong).

Akira, Evangelion, and BGC will definitely get fucked up, in the same manner of 21 and Dragonball.
