  • Yyyes

  • love this jam.....also grounded .......and box elder

  • looks like 2 ppl obviously need to stop breathin

  • is this originally a hole song?

  • i always thought this song sounded a lot like slint/sonic youth during the instrumental last half

  • saw them at the hollywood bowl this year.. wish i could have seen them in an actual club venue

  • they played this and gold soundz back 2 back in boston the other night....fucking amazing. Such a high.

  • I saw them in '94 in Philly/NJ.

This is one of my fav songs of theirs.

  • Many thanks for this posting. This was the song that got me into Pavement. Ta.

  • Oh my god. That ending was pure climatic. WOW!

  • cant wait to see them at pitchfork music festival

  • great performance of a great song off of a great album from a great band.

  • @darrius54 from a great country?

  • pavement is the best rock band of all time

  • amazing... these guys rule

  • Un-fucking-believable. Just fantastic

  • Class

  • Pavement was the band that influenced all the other indie bands that came after the nineties. Pavement was one of the most creative, original and brilliant bands that existed. Here is my tribute.

    GENIUSES !!!

  • steve really nails the chorus..awesome

  • I likes me some pavement!!!

  • hijos de putaaaaa

  • can you upload the torrent for the show please??!!

  • They sound so good live.

  • there appears to be a third guitar player here.

  • guitar tech

  • great song

  • Is this on the Slow Century DVD?

  • I know that there are plenty of people who would disagree with this assessment, but i think this is the coolest live song in the history of live songs.

  • yeah dude i love gratuitous super long end bits

  • oh man this used to be my favorite song for a while. and its got lyrics that almost make sense, poignant and bizarre

  • gary young was brillinat in the early days but you can clearly see why hehad to go.. slante dis still my fav pave album... everyone should check out the dvd slow century if you already havent..its essential for anyone who is remotely in interested in the pavementi......

  • crazy when the song starts everything goes quiet and calm

  • you should seed the torrent of the full show again, please.

  • those cymbals are annoying

  • FUCK YOU!

  • I was born that day :D

  • Crooked rain,Crooked rain...beautiful album

  • I agree.

Though Brighten The Corners is a close second for me.

  • *gänsehaut*

  • what a great song, 'sorry that now i cannot find anything like this in the music scene

  • hey dude..in a lot of ways they are differnt, because both of them are their own band and original but i've always thought modest mouse have some great elements that pavement had....with the spoken word play on lyrics and guitar riff they are kinda simlar

  • thanks, i've heard of them somewhere, and so now i'm curios to listening at, but really i was fucking in love with pavement, and still hoping on a reunion

  • The Jicks are just as good. Hell they go an awesome sound. I don't know why everyone's so concerned about them reuniting.

SM said himself that he doubts if they will anyway.

  • Yeah, a Pavement reunion show would sound exactly like a Jicks show, only with Bob Nastanovich's added vocals. Malkmus was really the only unique musician in the group after Gary Young got kicked out.

  • Gary might have been "unique" but he wasn't a very solid drummer and his antics were a constant annoyance to the band.

  • woops this was supposed to be a response to another post.

  • er...he left...in 1993....

    [?]

  • Not sure about that as Spiral Stairs would have something to say about that. He is a great musician in his own right and his first Preston School of Industry CD was as good as Malkmus first record. Plus its the two of them together that made Pavement Pavement. Sure Malkmus has a more unique sound but without Spiral he would not be as good!

  • not to sound pretentious or anything but I actually like stop breathing from CRCR disc 2. just because it was the first pavement song I ever heard and I never realized there was the other version. this video is incredible though.

  • i hope to hear this song in a concert.

  • here

    is the best.

  • To me, also, this is THE Pavement jam. So sloppy, so good. There was a period in my life when I listened to this song every damn morning. Good times.... This performance is good, but the audio is lackluster - but fun all the same.

  • Ok, I wanna drop the bomb: the best song from Crooked Rain is Hands off the bayou! So intense and depressed, Stephen at his best! But you won't find it on the tube...cheers!

  • I like SM's hat.

  • he looks a bit too much like the monkees' mike nesmith here!

  • I think it's intentional. It's gotta be.

  • C'mon time to re-form for those who weren't old enough first time round

  • theres a chance of a reunion in 09

SM has another band now though

  • ...maybe the best one from Crooked rain?

  • no no.

Kennel District from Crooked Rain Crooked Rain

the one from wowee zowee dosen't come close.

  • ehh not the best. range life, elevate me later, and fillmore i'd all put ahead of this. this is a great song though, and i respect your opinion

  • for some sacrilegious reason, I don't think this performance is that great, just not doing it for me...that being said, I think this is the quintessential Pavement song. It contains all of the right ingredients for a good Pavement song: The discordant arpeggios during the verses, the quirky lyrics, the catchy melody line, the gloriously sloppy jam at the end...ahhh Pavement.

  • love it.

    one of my favorite songs

  • this is just a amazing performance!!!

i first heard this a few days ago and this song has been in my head every since

  • i remember at that time when so many people thought they were bad players. ha! not even malkmus himself can write a song like this nowadays.

  • one of the coolest outros ever.

  • unbelievable

  • 10 feet down in the ground!!!!!

  • stop breathing....reathing for me now...

  • Stephen Malkmus is the second coming of Jesus, only better and better looking.

  • Stephen Malkmus.......secret Jesus?

  • dad they broke me

  • this is a pretty good song, not their best though, but no matter what song pavement does NOT SUCK!

  • I agree with Cyberedmund.

  • thats because ur cybermudds bitch

  • no, that's because I AM cyberedmund!

  • Who still uses walkmans??

  • pavement fans do

  • I'm starting an argument! :P

    P.S. Love the song

  • I was bowling a perfect game til this song came on my walkman... No hard feelings though.

  • BOO! they SUCK!

  • your mom sucks

  • this song makes me wanna make love to you

  • One of my favourite Pavement songs.

  • F A N T A S T I C

  • Brilliant song

  • I love thius song!
