Only the Louvin Bros. can sing harmony better than these guys, these singers are in a class all by themselves and their guitar playing style is pure genious.
Nothing ever compares to original recordings---the boys were in their prime too. Whenever I hear this (one of my alltime favs) I think of the sound coming out of a huge 'Seeburg' jukebox, with colossal bass---in a caff I used to frequent at that time. LOVERLY !!
Hate it when people compare singers /bands with other singers these aren't or weren't the British version of Beatles. Both Beatles and the Everly's have totally different sound. Unlike today's music have of it sounds the same. I prefer to listen to these then the Beatles though Beatles did some good music, but Phil and Don seems to catch my ears more every time i hear there music. Really REALLY annoys me when people compare music to one singer to another, one band to another etc grrr
RIP Malkiat Ubhi. My uncle passed away Monday 28TH November 2011. And this was his favourite song, in his youth and the song we brought his coffin home to. This song is just Beautiful.
listening to Everly Bro's CD repetitively on all of our 7 hours roadtrip back to my dad's hometown which we did a few times a year while we are young. 20yrs passed and I still love these songs.
This is written by Carole King and Howard Greenfield, you can hear this especially in the bridge which is slightly unEverly Brothers like. A beautiful song and performance!
I Know what that's like ! To have a girl dump you when it's raining cats and dogs But Heyyy ya gotta be strong and never show the pain in front of her !!
@elsoncanlas The Everly bros are indeed great...but the KING of rock and roll is and always will be Elvis Presley...as Buddy Holly said " If not for Elvis, none of the rest of us could ever had made it"
@zynjan good dont play no lil wayne or bieber for her.. lil wayne will take her to another world because he is a martian and bieber he may give her the fever with his lil gay ass.. -_-
Lol, I love how, in the playlist I'm listening too ("Flipped Soundtrack"), all you have to do is mention "Flipped" on one of the videos to be top comment. xD It's nice to see a bunch of other Flipped fans for once.
I'm 64 years, and this song makes me feel 10 years old again. I'd like to point out that for those of you who didn't hear the original songs of the Everlys that, in addition to their magic harmonies, their electric guitars with reverb and tremelo sounds were just amazing to those of us who'd only heard acoustic recordings previously. I still claim that Everlys were better than Elvis or anyone else in late 50's, early 60's.....until those bleedin' blokes from across the pond got cranked up.
@johnnyrebangel Lol! So true but I think the world was better for it cause of the Liverpool foursome, who I think espescially in their early singles really used Don and Phil as a template for their harmonies.
@johnnyrebangel Your right--the electric stuff was played by none other than Chet Atkins, who played on many records of that period including Elvis, and he also produced for these stars too. I met Chet in Bristol in the early 90's, a very easy-going laid back guy as you'd expect.
@MrDaiseymay Guitar pickin in America always comes back to Chet Atkins, doesn't it?
I never saw Chet, or the Everlys, live, but I went to college in Bristol(I'm guessin you were talkin about the town in Tennessee) and sure heard lots of good guitar there. Not sure any harmony will ever be done better than Don & Phil..... Peter, Paul & Mary gave it a shot, but it was a totally different type of music.
raised on the everly bros now 25 today thankyou for teaching me melody and harmony . play totally different stuff right now but owe them so much keep on truckin xxx

Just as good as it gets,I would love to see the singers of today attempt this song without mixing. Simon Cowell eat your heart out, you wouldnt know a singer if one fell over you.
Just nothing like the original. I played their records on a Webcor (!) turntable that sat on top of an old upright multi-band radio that my dad got somewhere. It had a "direct input" in the back for the turntable, and it sounded great!! What a great time growing up through the 50s and 60s.

The Everly Brothers are called "The American Beatles". I can see why!

@fordpickup41 No, because they wrote song before beatles, and then beatles wrote song after them with similar harmonic.
John lennon was a huge fan of everly brother.

@fordpickup41..... Seeing as how the Everlys pre dated the Beatles, should that not be the Beatles were known as the English Everlys?
