  • GREAT MUSIC BLUE LIGHTS IN THE BASEMENT AND DESHAZO !!!!!!!

  • hot and sexy

  • @dixelatino: Yes indeed....that was a sweet time to be alive. I think this Hip Hop crap has played a major role in how the disrespect grew. Due to gangsta rap it has become hip to be rude, obnoxious and loud and to act tough. We need to go back to the days when brothas greeted each other as brothas and men show women respect and women carry themselves like ladies. No more loud manly acting females and weak acting men. Some things from the past we need to hold onto. I agree with your comment 100%.

  • What a beatiful song & I imagine that my parents must have slow danced to this @ a basement party or 2 back then. This era of music most likely help my parents conceive me. Thanks for the post, I fell in love w/ this song when I was 16 & had my 1st taste of young love!!!

  • love it

  • What a gift from God it was to grow up in a time with music like this. To be young and discovering love for the first time, to music like this, is something I look forward to when I do my life review on judgement day. The Lord HAS to look on beautiful music like this, and our feelings toward it, as His gift to those of us who love and remember this music.

  • what happen to music? dis type of music could put somthing special in ya heart

  • A classic cut, album cut no less, of proto philly soul. Many of my rocker friends think this stuff is boring... I tell them to find a girl, learn to slow dance, put on this song then COME BACK to me and tell how boring romantic soul is. Tese songs had a purpose, to get young men and women together on the dance floor, hip to hip and cheek to cheek.

    Worf

  • what can i say 1969 delphonics they were the man the men whatever i was 11 my mothers friend giving a party in dc i was doing you know the dj it wasaround Christmas and everybody was happy and i remember her daughter doing my hair and the smell of fried chicken and a happiness that these could never get listening to some of the crap today at their mother's party with this music

So glad I was a teen and young adult when these guys and good music was popular. Slow dancing at the "basement parties, and quarter parties!!" Bring back this music...somebody please!!!

  • make me think of in the day when music was love.

  • It's women like us HalClassof1980, they don't make em like us no more" :)!! xoxo

  • @vincee10134: I am from Newark,NJ and this group was huge in the area and every brotha including me was so busy trying to blow this tune to the girl we had our eye on. The ladies back in those days really appreciated the effort we brothas would put into impressing them. Now and days the females act like dudes and dudes act like the females...who knew? ROFL...sorry yall i had to get that off my chest. Where did we go wrong with the youngsters? Now we got songs calling females bitches and hoes.

  • @DaOrigTruthSeeker I FEEL YOU, I GREW UP IN NEWARK AND NOW LIVE IN THE SOUTH. THIS IS STILL FROM A TIME I'LL NEVER FORGET.

  • Comment removed

  • It is so sad that this song is not on the definitive collection displayed here. How could they leave this off?! Anyway, thanks for posting it. If one can't GTD after this, there is no hope for you. BIGPOPPI

  • Great old "Philly Soul". A Classic Slow Drag Song!"

  • Besides the great singing by the Delfonics, the drummer did a superb job on this ballad. Why don't we have good drummers on today's "R&B" tunes instead of that obnoxiously innocuous artificial handclap for a beat!? Can someone answer that for me!?

  • Im only 17 years old & I feel this is what you call music. <3

  • @TinaLoks93 wow me to.. though i was the only 1

  • Real music for people.

  • @TinaLoks93 thats right nina this is reall music!!

  • When I listen to these songs from the 70's like this one and others from the Delphonics, The Sylistics, Blue Magic and others, I think to myself, "Who were the women who inspired these lyrics and these songs?" Oh my lord, it's unreal! It takes a lot to make a man take to pen and paper in this way. These chicks were definitely off the scale.

  • this song makes me cry :( i love it tho :)

1 day ima get married 2 this song :)

  • Eight dislikes, SMH? Really?!

  • I know some people think that a remake can never be better than the original. I disagree as I have heard many remade songs that surpass the original. With that being said, R & B group Silk did a remake of this song that not only does the original justice, but surpasses it in my opinion!!!

  • Classic...

  • wow! this is such a nice song...memories!

  • the memories that this music brings is timeless

  • Big, big fan of the Delfonics....favorites being HEY LOVE and BREAK YOUR PROMISE. Thanks.......Jan

  • Where all the real brothas at? Where all the real sistas at? We have got to come back together yall.....we are being divided by outside forces. We used to love each other...ask yourself what happened to us? Brothas treat the sistas like ladies and sistas carry yourselves like ladies and STOP acting so manly. Brothas talk properly in the presence of ladies and sistas wear respectful clothes and leave something to the brothas imaginations. We gotta do this yall before it's too late.

  • why is it that every time i find great old songs, there are old people knocking todays music? your parents probably thought the same thing about the delfonics...

  • I love this song, real music song by real men,

  • I used to have some friends on Elton, maybe you were at the parties, My cousins name was Yvette and Gwen, on Shepherd, between Belmont and Sutter.

  • The most unappreciated song writer of all time William Hart lead singer of the Delphonics, he wrote all of their songs

  • The most unappreciated song writer of all time William Hart lead singer of the Delphonics

  • wow!!!!

  • OMG this song is just AWESOME, the sweetest love song ever ever made!!! They sound so angelic and perfectly harmonious! LOL

  • I used to hang out on Shepherd ave, Bklyn NY. we had some basement parties, where we charged, a quarter to get in and a nickel for water, and after this record played, we made alot of the money. Water was dripping from people. This is one of the greatest slow jams of alltime. I loved slow dancing(grinding) off this. Especially, when you had the right guy. FANTASTIC.

  • @lynniesoul ~~ I USE TO LIVE ON PITKIN AVE & ELTON, SOME REAL GOOD DAYS BACK THEN.

  • Fucking angelic!

  • real music!!!!!!!!! thanks for this song

  • For the love I gave to her ,1987...

1 million dollars or a time machine to avoid where we met.....

  • Love old school... music had messages back then... we didn't glorify guns, disrespect to women, love of money or , disrespect authority like songs do today, we sang about love, what's going on in the world, etc. Does anyone know who sang the song in early 70's titled "Pretty Pretty.? Such a beautiful! song... it went like this... "your face .... just like an angel... that brightens up a cloudy dayyyyy" Pls let me know who song it and whether it's posted on youtube. Thxs

  • @rpoolebutterfly -you are definitely right. i'm 44 and i have noticed the difference in the music from the 60's through 90's vs. today's bullshit. there are no more slow jams or love songs, messages in the song, passion, soul, love ect.. if you're not singing or rapping about bitches,ho's,your dick, money, cars, bling, guns, drugs, beef ect.. than you're soft, gay, or a ''bitch nigga''. i've heard young thugs today say shit like that. the state of music today is watered down,pre-school,thugged out garbage.

  • This in the top 5 or 10 of all time slow jams

  • Respect the good shit.

  • to all who r using this video on a great back in the day group to air differences ...StopIt!!! If u have negative input take it somewhere else the delfonics are a legend in music history foools dont disrespect them u need to come down to the hoods and talk shit they cant be copied or replaced!!

  • How sweet is this cut?!!! I am so happy I came along when I did. This is what we grew up on . Oh 'wow....(daydreaming)

  • @vincee10134 yessss we did . those were the days

  • I love this song! The delfonics are such a great group...so excited to see em in 2 weeks!!

If you don't have nothing nice to say about the music, or if your gna talk bad about other ppls comments just save it...you look ridiculous talking shit thinkn you look big & bad cuz no one can see or touch you thru this...

  • great memories!

  • I remember seeing them almost every Saturday at the RKO Albey down town Brooklyn across from the Dime Savings Bank and man many babies came out of this song WOW!!! and you couldn't even talk to you girl when they got on stage, she would tell you to shut up and you would or you wouldn't get any that night. Now....for the most part there is nothing but pain with very little gain!!! I fell bad for young people. At least I lived and loved. I know what it is like to be treated like a lady!!!!!!!!!

  • No bitchesor hoes, when men talked about really lovin' their woman!!!

  • Rap is crap let's take it back to where it was strictly about romance and maybe

our sisters will stop eating themselves to death and look decent again!!!!!!!!!

    oldshool101able

  • The best part is at the end, The Delfonics, one of a kind group

  • Reminds me of growing up in L.A. in the 80's enjoying Sundays in my boyfriends 64 chevy impala. They dont make them like this anymore.

  • Without a doubt, my all time favorite song.

  • memores to me

  • My all time favorite song. There will never be another song like this

  • Need to bump this in my 87 Cutlass all stock chrome 14 inch rallyes , hurst hood, slow but reliable 307 , get a nice thick chick up in her and play this at a nice level where it blends in and out with my exhaust as I look out of the windshield at the scenes of the ghettos of Chester Pa , North phila and the Bottom Of West Phila Pa . Rest in peace Arnold Goode , Doug, Tash and Cool Larry aka Cool L from the William Penn Projects. REAL NIGGAS LISTEN TO THIS TYPE MUSIC TRUST.

  • @cimism610 I grew up listening to the Delfonics, The Chi-Lites, The Moments, The What-Nots and all of

the other groups of this era and I am real but NOT a nigga. As a blackman born in NYC I am deeply INSULTED by the fact that your use of this trashy word. You obviously aren't educated enough to call yourself a Blackman or Black-American or even Afro-American. Wake-up and get with the "REAL" world, negative conotations that are used about our people are "WRONG" and feed the sterotype.!!!

  • @sp4armyguy1 FUCK YOU I have a bachelors degree and I am more in touch than you will ever be. My mom grew up with these cats and partied with them before i was born. I bet your favorite radio personality is rush limbong and you cant get enough of glenn beck dumbass. You keep that receipt you got from selling out and leave me the fuck alone you fuckin hater. You booshi uppity nigger. I said nigga to all but you are a nigger. A stupid one too,

  • @cimism610 You are obviously book smart and street stupid. Just because you have a degree does NOT

make you intelligent. You obviously majored in ignorance. If you grew up in the 60's like many of us did, you

would've understood that "ANY" use of the word nigga or nigger is a negative conotation. Sadly the money

that was used to send you to college to "get a education" was WASTED.

  • @sp4armyguy1 AWWWWW SHITT HOUSE NIGGER IN THE BUILDING DO not touch his whites only pie and dont say a damn thing about massa. AS I shuts ma mouf wide open . Isa no compare to you. Hey nigger get a life Do Nyc a favor by jumping off the BROOKLYN BRIDGE

  • @sp4armyguy1 Shut the fuck up again because the Delfonics were from Philadelphia and ran in the streets of West Philadelphia . They were not too proud to frequent the ghettos and common people that supported them. You my friend are a disgrace to your race. Unless you want to go toe to toe with some skinheads as I have you do not know me and you are not a TRUE black man. See niggers like you arethe reason why blacks in africa sold us to the white man in the first place get some pussy bitch

  • @cimism610 Just for the record, I grew up in the same time period as your parents. You say that your mom

partied with them and I too recall going to the local shows to see them perform. I have lived through the 60's

seen the riots in Harlem and the assinations of JFK, Rev.Dr. Matin L. King and RFK and Malcolm X. You can't hold aburned out 1000 watt bulb to me in this respect. Going by the way that you responded here, I am totally ASHAMED of the fact that you claim to be black.!!!!!

  • @sp4armyguy1 Hey come on out the back kitchen and come out to the field nigga shacks. See I walk with my brothers and do not think I am better than them I dont sit on no computer worrying about what uncle toms like you do now do I. Your life is over dude your old and stuck in your ways too uncle tom to realize you are not white. You propably did see all the assasinations as a matter of fact the character in the movie panther that sold out is based 100 percent on you. SHAME ON YOU

  • @sp4armyguy1 Also lets focus on the word nigger. It can meen love as I do my niggas. it means carpenter and final it is in the dictionary to label dumb motherfuckers like you. Nigger - an ignorant person. In todays street culture the word nigger and nigga mean many things. In essence when I call a friend a nigga he is being considered to be a thorough person who builds from the little that he has and is also able to articulate it to the world in a flashy flamboyant way. PS Stop Hatin

  • @sp4armyguy1 nigger please you must be old time to change your diaper cranky

  • THIS IS MY JAM; FOR THE LOVE I GIVE TO ME AND ONLY ME

  • i'm 19 i swear i was born in the wrong era this is my jam

  • This phenomenal and sensual song sounds as good now as it did when I first heard it during my high school days nearly 40 years ago. I miss the good music, as well as the positive messages of those songs. You can write a book about that wonderful decade of the 1970s.

  • I can die now after listening to this shit ....straight up

  • this is one of the greatest love songs of all time!

  • this is one of my all time favorites - WOW

  • I think this one is my favorite?

  • joe-joe this is it

  • I can sing that song i love it

  • For those of you who might have a hard time expressing yourself or just saying you're sorry or just want to tell that special person you Love them. Just put on some of this magic or reach back into your bag of 1960's ,70's,80's and it will surely work.Don't forget Barry White , Marvin Gaye, and others believe me with the right song you'll be fine. Take it from a sister, and this is for us sisters too.
