  • Pet WASP'S??

  • You can touch wasps on their nests as long as you're gentle. Their defense mechanism doesn't perceive that as a threat. I've done it many times. What you can't do is breathe on them THEN they will attack. They can see CO2 and are programmed to drive off the source which signals a possible predator.

  • Amazing how wasps and bees can make these beautiful hexagonal chambers. And it has a purpose which is that the chambers pack together as tightly as possible so that the nest takes up only as much space as absolutely needed as well as giving the whole nest a remarkably rigid structure for what amounts--in the case of wasps--to a bunch of paper. And they manufacture their own paper to boot.

  • What, are you trying to see if the wasps are ticklish? Wasp - "Aww geez, it's back. Maybe if we ignore it it'll go away."

  • I believe that if the queen is comfortable around the person or something like that, the wasps won't attack.

  • @reclipse3 holy crap. how are you able to pet it; when theres a wasp nest around, those damn things wont let me within 5 feet of range without them buzzing around me
