  • This an epic masyerpiece!!!!! definetly going to my favorites

  • im glad you did this. i really want a well done version of this to listen to. this in my opinion is the true theme song of sonic so i think it should be remastered and released in all of its glory lol

  • wow, im putting this in my favorites

  • toot toot sonic warrior!

  • i think there's a problem here.

even in 240 it plays it incorrectly now D:

  • @yoshifanatic64 Just checked for you, it plays as intended for both quality settings now. The first half is meant to bring out the 8-bit track more, then cuts to a more equal mix halfway

  • @kLemon it plays the first too heavily in the remade version

it still plays incorrectly for me though.

  • @kLemon it doesnt play right on my computer in either qualities, but on my ipod, it plays correctly for me.

  • if you listen closely in the background you can hear people singing

  • @lord1234title You are right, for the first half, because that's how I mixed it, but clearly you didn't listen to the whole thing. Try again and see what happens halfway thru

  • @kLemon Let me guess, you used Audacity to remove the lyrics from the original song, and then played it over the 8-bit version from the Game Gear/Master System version of Sonic 2. Adding the lyrics back in halfway through, and looping a few times as well.

  • @MamaLuigiBarrelRoll Just the one loop to bring in the lyrics at halfway, but essentially yes, that's pretty much exactly what I did. tbh I'm not sure why so many commenters got so excited, I guess cos not many have tried it before.

  • @lord1234title yes, its from sonic CD x)

  • Nice work the music matches pretty well but can you also post a video with just the Green Hills theme ?

  • THIS is where it came from?! How come I've never noticed it before?

  • wow it so similar it scawy

  • toot toot sonic warrior

  • I was literally playing this game YESTERDAY when I literally dropped my jaw after realizing that these two tracks were the same. Games today can't do that. It never fails to put a smile on my face.

  • EPIIIIIIIIIIIIIC

  • great zone!!!

  • i love this zone!

  • i love how the words in the Sonic CD version is in perfect synchronization with the game gear (master system) version. legit!

  • If the video was sonic gameplay throughout the years, I would honestly not be able to hold back the tears of nostalgia.

  • @prinnydood

    HELL. YES. I emphatically agree.

  • The song seems to sound more complete if you mix it with the 8-Bit sample... And it sounds more epic, too!

    5/5

  • without boasting, long ago I discovered the similarity

  • It's a well known fact, I don't claim to be it's discoverer, I have merely brought the two together

  • I love this! oh, & I notice the random change in quality - i prefered the lower quality one though

EVERYONE who has that problem, watch it on HQ - it reverses the effect & makes it sound like what it used to be! =D (youtube/google is really messing up this site now. -_-)

    Hope that helps! =D

Oh, & kLemon, could you put a download link in the description please? this is so damn AWESOME!! =D

  • No download link I'm afraid, I haven't hosted the file anywhere

  • is this a different video then last time because it sounds like you can do anything was louder than it was in the video i last heard it... and that version had the singing too

  • i remember dr robotnik in crystal egg zone was ridiculasly hard on the game gear version >.>

  • Listen closely...at 0:12 you here ganon from cd-i zelda say "DIE!" XD do you hear it?

  • It's one of the singers saying "time zone" poking thru the karaoke filter that's been applied to the first half of the mix

  • Doesn't it sound like it though?

  • Sure as hell does. XD

  • For some reason, the Low Quality version of the song sounds better than High Quality. In the first part of the song you can hear some minor mixing of You can Do anything with Green Hills. Mainly the guitar.

  • The low quality version is pretty much as intended. Seems youtube has done some rather unwelcome tinkering with the high quality version on conversion.

  • sonic cd meets meets sonic 2 ms version....cool! i realythink there sould be a hardcore version made of the ms version wid no lyrics!!!!

  • I still think the lyrics to that song are some horrible miscommunication on the part of Sega Japan., given the awkwardness of that one single repeated word.

  • I always questioned the line "leather and lace"

  • THAT WAS TOTAL WICKED EPICNESS!! The way it switched from song to lyrics was perfect! instant fav! For some reason, I call this Toot Toot Sonic Hills Zone.

  • Forgot to ask before, but, you got an mp3 of this!? It would be awesome!! I tried downloading it and the guitars before the lyrics part disappeared.

  • Where the heck was Tails in this game?

  • Being held prisoner by Robotnik in the Crystal Egg Zone. The ultimate objective in this game is to collect the emeralds to access the Crystal Egg Zone for the final showdown with Robotnik with Tails at stake.

  • that's the 1st thing i thought when i first played this sonic 2. he wasn't an active character til' Sonic Chaos in 1993

  • The song's changed again! It's always does this after 11pm! wtf?

  • This song is very AWSOME...Fav'd and some stars...times five.

  • ahhh, what a great remix! i had no idea the two went together so perfectly! :D

  • They don't really. both tracks have different tempos. I had to spend a bit of time tweaking the speed of one of the tracks to bring them in sync. Luckily both versions were made in the same key (pitch) so I didn't have to do anything there.

  • COOL!

  • this has been changed! sounds awesome! greta job mate!

  • I dream with this theme when i was 10 years old in 1993.

  • I can only imagine this version playing in the actual stage...

  • Something's happened to the sound for me, it's not playing the guitar from You Can Do Anything anymore...was before...

  • do u haev MSN messenger? go2 my profile and msg my ID! H

  • Excalibar it's not that far!

What do you mean? Give and take

    Going home, Time zone!

Look at egg, he's never alone

Leather and lace, get in point

What do you get? Say FAST JET!

    Boom room, Cosmic Zoom!

Heads up man, IT'S SONIC BOOM!

  • Tout tout Sonic warrior!

The power is in your hand to shake planets and conquer time !

  • Am I the only one who doesn't know what these lyrics mean?

  • These I've written are the lyrics that the Sonic CD Japanese version uses for it's opening theme.

Like you see on this video, the main and second leads from the GHZ theme in the Game Gear game were used as backing track for the Sonic CD opening =D.

Also, these lyrics make the song moar epic XD

  • Oh, I know where the lyrics are from, I just don't know what they mean :P

  • AWESOME.

  • When i was young and i first viewed Sonic cd intro, i've recognized the Master System song. I Love it. Very nice job mixing this. Five stars. And thank you for this.

  • Whoa, awesome! It was really nice when you mixed Green Hills song with You can do anything! :D

    5 stars!

  • I remember when I first played this level, I was all "This tune is strangely familiar." At that point, I started singing You Can Do Anything, but it wasn't to the "Toot toot Sonic Warrior" part yet. When it got there, I'm like "... Oh. Well no wonder it sounded familiar."

  • Muito legal!

Arrepiei quando entrou a sopreposição do "You Can Do Anything" cantado. Show!

    ;)

  • master system sounds like game gear kinda.

  • thats cause theyre pretty much the same game

  • GREAT JOB!! I love it! Thanks!

  • You can do anything!!!!Good Mix

  • nice mix

  • toot toot sonic warrior

  • I remember this so much

    Im humming it now :D

I used to love playing this game with my dad as kid.

Its brings a smile to my face to hear it again.

  • Ha, that is quality, never occurred to me those two would make a sweet mix. Nice one. :D

  • it took a bit of tweaking to get them at same speed and key, but yeah they do mix very well

  • Sir, you just won the epic effing win award.

  • tell me about it. I was so disappointed when i bought sonic gems and it had the NA soundtrack

  • One thing I can't understand: Why are the lyrics to the Japanese version of the intro in English? '.'?

  • it's also the european version

  • nope the european version is way faster thanks the fx chip^^

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOW

    VERY COOOOOL!!!!!!! *_____*

I have tried many times to combine them

where i can get this remix???

  • it's homemade, i mixed it myself using Audacity. Was able to slow one of the tracks down. Was painstakingly tedious matching them

  • Very cool!!!

  • You made my dream come true thx

  • I can't believe it! I've had these two games for years and never even noticed the link between the two songs! D'oh! X(

    Thanks very much for sharing!

  • exelent job! this is the best sonic song

  • Wow I remember these. I had a mega cd for a while. It was my dad actualy who noticed the opening tune to the sonic cd intro was the same tune fromsonic 2 green hills. He was as much into playing sonic as i was. Completed all sonic games for master system, game gear, mega drive and sonic cd. After that they just got bad and they so wernt the same. Also anyone remember the sunday morning channel 4 9 o clock sonic cartoons??

  • u mean SatAm or syndicated?

  • Oh im english. Live in the UK. We used to have it on a sunday morning at 9 o clock.

  • I'm a kiwi and we had it on Sunday morning also, it's commonly known at SatAM to distinguish from the other series

  • oh i never knew that. Fair enough lol. Anyway was still an amazin cartoon for all sonic fans. :D

  • actualy satam, and underground still air in UK. if you have satillite you might have a channel called POP! another show that airs is captin N, mario 3, and super show.

  • damn, UK must have some sort of affinity for vintage :o

  • dude, you gotta love the shit from the old school... especially the sonic games! The games have been downhill since Sonic Adventure 2!!

  • Actually, I loved Sonic Adventure 2.

I loved most Sonic games until Secret Rings.

After Sonic Heroes, the console Sonic games plummeted for me.

Go ahead and call me stupid but that's what I think.

  • I prefer handheld Sonic games like Sonic Rush and the Sonic Advance series.

  • sonic rush is the best sonic in years

  • Don't get me wrong, Sonic Adventure 2 was a half decent effort by Sonic Team (and one of the last games to be released on the now disbanded Dreamcast... R.I.P lol), but since that was released we've had shitty game after shitty game... means to thier own at the end of the day. But think about this... look at the next gen effort; an absolutle God-awful piece of sh*t that taints the classic titles!!

I think if Sonic Team re-released the old school titles, (but in HD), we might be on to something!

  • Sonic Mega Collection/+

    Sonic Gems

    X-Box Live Downloads

    Wii Virtual Console

How exactly can you make the classics HD? I mean, it's not like they have ass blastig graphics. If they were to do that then the entire game would have to be re-sprited and tiled from scratch. And most versions have the music and sounds in crisp and clear stereo quality(and Dolby Surround Sound when possible).

I think the originals are as HD as there going to get.

  • 0:01 - 1:09 i'm thinking o.k nothing I haven't seen or heard before

1:10 - onwards i'm thinking OMG bloody awsome

    Brilliant!!!

  • I can hear Sonic You Can do anything in the BG of the GHZ.

    Wow isnt that obvious.

Mean viewers dont flame me i catch the weirdest things

  • that is where You Can Do Anything actually came from

  • no i mean i can hear the actual song in the bg of the GHZ

if i were you i'd try stereo effects

  • yeh that's because i put it there. it just didnt come out the way it should have on youtube

  • O?

    k then.

i kinda noticed when i thought it sounded kinda "staticy"

  • normal with slight background:not just staticy you can hear the humming noise and female voice and the guitar really easily before the chorus plays *the end of the normal song*

you can do anything:the chorus is perfectly in tune with the tootoot sonic warrior part and beyond

  • Cool video, like it! I had this game on the Master System. I grew up with the American soundtrack of Sonic CD though, so I hadn't heard 'Toot toot Sonic warrior' up until recently. I have noticed that the theme is reused in other Sonic games. For example: The invincible music of Sonic Drift is a fast paced version, as already stated. Also, the invincible music of Sonic Adventure (DX) has the basic jingle in it.

  • the invicible music in sonic drift 1 is fast paced version of you can do anything from sonic cd the invicible music in sonic drift two is invicible music from sonic 3

  • Nice video as it brings me nice memories. Have both games, S2 in my MS2 and SCD for the Mega CD. Great games/Great video :D

  • Just wanted to say that the real title of this song is "You Can Do Anything", as stated on official sources.

    Cool video, 5'd.

  • Basically this is where the main theme for Sonic CD came from. Theres a few other jingles from the old Sonic games that have made it into the new games that have been remixed, you guys should find them for yourselves ;)

  • This is amazing!!! I played and still have sonic 2 and my game gear and this is one of my favorite themes from the game. I didn't know that the Sonic CD theme mixes so well with it! Great post 5*

  • i noticed that this song actually sounds like toot toot sonic warrior

  • i've noticed uve posted this msg elsewhere...what u havent noticed is thats the whole point of this video!!

  • oh hahaha ok still don't gett it thought xD

  • WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WOW xD

  • also dont forget the invicible music in either sonic drift 1 or 2 is also a fast paced mix of toot toot sonic warrior.

  • isen't that game to game geasr i played it on my sonic adventure dx

  • there was a game gear version almost exactly the same...this video was made with the master system version

  • oh really sweeeett hope i didn't spoil anything

  • Oh, I'll be damned. The game gear song actually sounded like that to begin with.... *Ahem*

  • this is a SICK mix

thanks very very very much ^.^

  • I love the song i love it same type from sonic cd

  • i had sonic on the master system II, and on mega drive 2

  • lol i only just got sonic mega collection for ps2 the other day, going back to the good old days *sigh*....

  • Very cool. I remember when I heard the vocal version I wondered where the crap I'd heard it before, then eventually found out it was in Sonic 2. Didn't realise the whole melody line was used though, thought it was just the chorus. Good job.

  • I only just noticed it sounded like that song yesterday when I was playing on the level. Lol

  • if anyone wants, i can do requests for sonic music..i got sonic 1,2,3,knuckles,3dblast, cd (euro/japo and usa soundtracks), spinball, 1(ms), 2(ms), chaos (ms) -- i also got sonic adventure dx and sonic heroes but not able to get screenshots from them

  • thanks to youtube, the first half kinda turned out a bit crap (it sounds great before uploading!!) the second half worked out ok

  • I know, it's a bitch. But there are just so many video codecs out there....they claim they try their best to keep up with them all.
