i think this video shows everything your shouldnt do...your cuts are awfull on that big tree..you guys are working way, way to close to each other..there small trees..but they still can kill you. work distace should be 1.5X further away from each other then the biggest tree you think your going to cut down.
@bondenesn He he. vad snäll du är. Du har helt rätt i att min teknik och säkerhet brister. Någon gång i framtiden kanske jag kommer att gå den kursen. Den verkar vara bra!
I agree with kadakas. My grandfather was injuried and later on died during the exakt same type of work. He and another realtive of mine stood to close to each other and a small pinetree fell by acciedent in the wrong direction. My grandfather was struck in his back and died , about a minut, in my fathers cousines armes speaking his last words: I don´t think I fell so well.
He became 70 years old, died in the year 2000, the day before Christmas eve... Think about your familys!
@umpisuoli87 He he he. I thought you were joking untill you wrote sincerely. I am an amateur. This is how I work in the forest. They´re not for education. I am not a rolemodel, and don´t want to be one. Lots of professionals can work both faster and safer then me in the forest and...... I don´t give a fuck... Good luck with your studies. I understand Finland has a good forestindustry.
Sweden is one of the greediest countries on Earth today, making themselves rich by destroying the global ecconomy for everybody else, The Global GDP was the highest in human history in 2005 before their Socialist International agents took over the US Congress in 2007 to destroy us. Burn their fucking trees to ground.
your trees are the same ones here in canada husqvarna very good saw i used to use a 254 a few years back i guesse you guys no what hard work is about i wish you all the best. I enjoyed your video it made me think of the olden days lol
lol shocking safety even the camera wasn't safe lol in new zealand you get prosecuted for that sort of practice and working too close lucky they little trees, the stump never lies, the bigger tree can easily have come back on them cause of over cutting the scarf and backcut too low. BE CAREFULL GUYS iv'e logged all my life and lost lots of friends and family through logging just takes one lapse and by the way it should take less then 30seconds to fall that last tree lol
Back in the late eighties, some fellas from the north came over to the coast and demonstrated corridor and fish-bone timber falling. Guess once you boys go home you, uh, just kinda do whatever huh? Thank god for the West Coast loggers.
then you have seen noting they are amateurs. but they have done a great video. but we have very little manual labour in the forest in Sweden now days, the only manual work is brush-cutting and replanting. and they from Sweden just import the manual labour from Finland and the Balkan states and the do it cheaper and faster then the most Swedish workers whom is considered lazy by the Finnish population. you have to excuse me for the bad English if you think i'm bad.
@PBGVPBGV i noticed that you guys only use husqvarna chainsaws, is there any reason for this? because i am going to buying a chainsaw soon myself and was wondering what chainsaw you think is best
@PBGVPBGV i noticed that you guys only used husqvarna chainsaws, is there any reason for this? because i am going to buy a chainsaw soon myself and was wondering what type and model you recommend for all around forestry use. love the video :)
@ds357ful We like Husqvarna, but it´s not like we´ve done a great suvery over the other chainsaws. We just started buying them, and kept with them. I cant say anything about Stihl or any other saw, beacause I haven´t used them enough. Thanks!
one of the problems w/ thinning operations is root digesting pathogens boom and affect the remaining members resulting in degrade. If we start by thinning only dead material we would begin to see more high value timber in our poorly managed forests
Most of my work in our forest is thinning, and a lot of delimbing small trees. Therefor I like my saw as small as possible. I actually had my eye on a 339xp (?), had it home, but it was to weak, even for me.. It is true that cutting and delimbing these small trees doesn´t make you rich, however it needs to be done for the remaining trees.
nice job, very professional. good job limbing too, i hate those bushy trees with soo many limbs, atleast its not like a pine with tons of limbs that are 9" in diameter.
Setting the carb to 14,300 rpm of course requires a tachometer. Turn the high speed screw out(counterclockwise) to richen the mixture and lower the rpms. You may have to use a utility knife to trim the stops off the screw travel limiters.
Did you buy this saw from a dealer or on-line? A decent dealer will set the carb for you.
Husky is notorious for sending their saws out from the factory with the carbs adjusted too lean. This will kill your saw eventually, richen it up or have your dealer do it. Set it at 14.3k if using a tach and you will be safe.
A good demonstration of snedding on the last tree but you would never keep a felling job in the US if you are always that slow getting them on the ground.
BTW, you do realize that if you overbuck about 1/3 of the way through and then finish the cut from the bottom that bucking logs is quicker, cleaner, and safer with less chance of pinching the bar?
Is snedding when you remove all the branches, to get a "clean" log? I am slow and I am not a professional.......
The idea of my videos is not to show an expert in action, but to give you an idea of how an amateur logger is working in his swedish forest. There will be, at least, one more video that will show other aspects of amateur forestry in Sweden.
That is correct. Given that you seem accomplished at snedding I assumed that you are a professional. In the case of my apparent mistake, very nice work on the snedding and forget what I said about getting them on the ground.
This reply is totally out of context since it didn`t associate with the initial post that I had intended. It is in reference to "what is snedding?"
To overbuck is to cut across the top. Just cut down from the top until the fiber just wants to pinch the bar, maybe a little less, then finish from the bottom.
This has got to be some of the most inefficient logging being doen anywhere in the world. I hope this vid is about twenty years old. Thinning stands by hand, manual delimbing, wow.
