  • Every chemical is dangerous, its the amount that matters, oh yeah and as long as u DON'T digest it. Smoking is way more dangerous lol. Just saying

  • I have an alternative ladies...it's called ProFX & it is in a big 2.5 oz. bottle for $4.97 at walmart. It is very thick like seche vite but it dries almost as fast. it says it is dbp & toluene free (doesn't say it is formaldehyde free though). I've been using this one for a while now & I am pleased with it (as well as the price). try this one instead.

  • @Alina674 Thank you for the information!

  • I used a whole bottle and im prego with my third child it might not be a large amount of chemicals but oh well its ur body use what you want :)

  • Thank you sweetie for your clip. Wow. I haven't used this product for long. I'll have to look for something else to use. Why is this product being sold? It shouldn't even be an option.

  • I found that on a keychain before... Not that big of a deal if u don't eat it

  • Mary Kay top and base coat :D much safer

  • @jellybean2381 Thanks. I don't have access to these.

  • I really love ur accent!!]

  • thanks, and my bottle of seche vite- (same bottle as yours) does not say it on the bottle???

  • @peaceandlove2231 Maybe they changed it? I hope so...

  • @peaceandlove2231 Yeah, mine neither :s

  • @lovelyleon33

    they better have changed it!!!

  • @peaceandlove2231 mine doesnt say it either

  • @dollylollyful welcome

  • I don't understand how a chemical (that's probably in very small amounts) in a product that you apply to your fingernails could harm your reproductive organs anyway...

  • swiming pools say that to

  • Hi, I hate to burst your bubble young person but this is the case with many chemicals you use on a daily basis. It is so interesting to hear the fresh young minds & their reactions to the real world. Not making fun of you or anything, just that there is more of this to come & you will see as you get older that you will have to avoid many things if you want to keep all of this out of your life. This is why so many people are getting cancer. Even fluoride in drinking water is bad! research it.

  • @Alina674 Hm thank you for the information, I am not in a bubble though :)

  • @Policosmetics82 Yes, I'm sorry if that sounded bad. You are not in a bubble, you are wanting to see things for what they are! Good for you! :-)

  • @Alina674 What is safe then??? you say all products around us are dangerous. I've heard that the plastic containers some household chemicals are stored in also leave chemicals in our bodies, but then going out of your front door is dangerous too. I guess we will all die eventually...on a lighter note, i'd rather go looking good than with ugly nails lol.

  • @arkangelblue I agree with you about the part of everything pretty much being "bad" for our health, but then we will have to eliminate practically everything we do & use. This is a big issue that runs deep. The more you learn the more you will find (then you'll wish you never ventured into it). I use Seche Vite myself, but there are far worse things that are more dangerous. Most of the things we use we don't even know are bad for us.

  • Actually toulene is extremly dangerous but before you throw only the seche vite away read your other nail polishes and see if they have formaldehyde resin in it- a KNOWN carcinogen recognized as dangerous not only by the US gov. but European ones as well.

  • @MultiTwiglet Woah read through the comments and guess I'm late abbout my warning oh well u_u'

  • Well I already have 2 kids...don't throw it away :) send it to me lol!

  • Well I heard they even have this sign in a parking garage because there are apparently fumes from an exhaust pipe. I saw it on wiki. So... I guess Imma still continue to use my seche :D

  • I'm pretty sure out the door nail polish top coat doesnt have Toluene. :)

  • @crackheads15 yay

  • every nail polish causes birth defects and reproductive harm = =

  • @ks96119 where do you have this info from?

  • @Policosmetics82 google.ca

  • so what's the best fast drying top coat without toulene?

  • @mzbluepunkrocker Sally hansen mega shine :)

  • and what about the other products you use, which do NOT declare their "dangerous" substances? kinda overreacting..

  • @Saphir8 Aw so sweet of you! :)

  • Try ZOYA polishes and top coat. They have no toulene, DBP, camphor, or formaldehyde. Also they are vegan. Amazing product!!!! :) PS I threw out my Seche Vete too after reading that. GROSS...:(

  • @RebaBee83 I know, I want to try Zoya too! :)

  • I wouldn't worry about it. I'm from CA and because of that stupid prop (prop 65), that warning is on EVERYTHING! I'm not kidding, it's on at least 80% of everything we buy, including dishes and towels!!! It's on every store and restaurant windows and doors (at one store I even saw a sign that said their FLOOR would cause birth defects!) It's really silly and I just ignore that warning now.

  • @lisajoyyoung Thank you for the information! :)

  • well I'm never having kids so I'ma use the hell out of it

  • @follielafemme ahahahahahahaha right?!?!?!?!!?!? me too

  • @follielafemme LOL!!!!!

  • i so agree!!

i will never ever buy this!!

  • @thelipstickdiaries I saw that Sally Hanson has a great toluene free alternatives!

  • Poli, It's so great that your speading this to let everyone know about this product! Great job and thanks for the warning!

  • @MsGirlstalk Welcome, Chloe! I am malking researches now and I think I will start using Zoya mainly!

  • Thanks for warning!

  • @GlitteryGossip21 welcome

  • Hi Poli, I knew about this, and think it's really nice of you to let everyone know!! And, to add some more information to what you said: the chemical they talk about that's known to cause birth defects is toulene. It's not only in this top coat, but in lots of other nail polishes :( Formaldehyde is also a known carcinogen that is in a lot of nail polishes. So, if you want to be really careful, I suggest you check to make sure none of your nail polishes have hose two ingredients!

  • @pinkedelweiss Thank you so much for the information!

  • Oh my goodness!! Okay now I'm scared. I'm throwing mine away.

  • @MissThomCat Me too...

  • I use Nubar's diamont top coat & it sets my nails dry & glass like shine finish in 5 minutes (I got mine from feelunique dotcom - free international shipping) :D

  • @lizberry2 Thanks!

  • we all have to make these informed decisions for ourselves. i never want to be without my seche vite but i'm not a young woman who might find that warning concerning. take care poli and have a good one.

  • @northnailnut You too!

  • Considering the fact that I never want kids, I think I'll be alright ;)

  • @rennie411 HM imagine that the chemical has other side effects too...

  • It's really disgusting that so many products contain such chemicals! I always check packaging and look up ingredients on the Cosmetics Database site.

  • @stardustlace Thanks!

  • California! People there snort cocaine, inhale marijuana, chug-a-lug wine and eat funny mushrooms -- but at least they are warned about tiny amounts of chemicals.

  • @KateBBify ...

  • Gosh, how could you have missed this? That's one of the reasons I hate this product so much.

    Glad you're done with it!

  • @jenGeeJushawshee I did miss that.... and never hear anyone using it talking about it!

  • I would not get too worried about that. The State of Cali requires that to be on a LOT of things. You would be surprised. Some things that don't even contain bad things.

  • @Thekatieab I hope that I don't have tpo be too worried... thank you!

  • I actually saw the warning when I first purchased but after doing a lot of research I realized there was much more to it.....but I totally respect your decision to stop using it! ;-DDD

  • @kokolaroo Oh dear friend, it's maybe of my impulsive nature to do this video right away when I read this and haven't done more research... but that's the way I am for some things lol

I have to make more research now and you sound calm about this product, so it makes me more calm now too :) Thank you! Hugs!

  • @Policosmetics82 Well it's a personal choice and I knew the first time I smelled it that it was a very strong type of chemical so I actually only use it on very dark polishes that may chip easily......can you believe they have the same warning on artificial sweeteners in California? They have very strict regulations there! ;-D

  • @kokolaroo what other information did you find about it? did you end up switching fast dry top coat to something else? which one did u change to?

  • I think the chemical in question is Toluene, which is second in the inci of Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat. Toluene is used also in other nail polishes and in nail polish removers, so if you worry about it always check that your products are toluene-free, e.g. Zoya, China Glaze, OPI...

  • Just a note: many chemicals might be harmful when used a lot. Some of those chemicals are used in cosmetics but in so little quantities that they practically won't do any harm. It is just required by some laws to mention those chemicals, clearly with Seche Vite only California requires mentioning the chemical. Wouldn't the chemical be banned or at least required to mention in bottle also by other states and EU if it was so harmful? Something to consider, if you are worried you shouldn't use it!

  • @armisoili Hi armisoili, Each state has the right to have different statutes and laws regarding issues like this. So you'll see wide variations from state to state. On a related note, I read recently that one of the safest lines for all sorts of skincare/makeup/haircare/fragrance is Avon because it's international - so it removes most of the offending ingredients that are banned in various countries. ~ Susan

  • I live in CA and they have to post a sign like that next to all of Essie nail polishes too.. apparently all of Essie is the same way :-\ Sad because I like their colors.

  • omg thats awful! scary to think if you was using it if you was pregnant you would'nt have known..

  • I had NO CLUE!!! Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention, and thanks to your other viewers who suggested a safer alternative.

  • Poli ako ne si go gledala, potursi campaign for safe cosmetics .. :) tuk v YT

  • @uniquastudio mersi

  • @MACwishin2 Yes, it is a shame!!

  • Hi Poli:) Thanks soo much for the info!!!:) Hope your doing well!! Hugs, Jessie

  • @AMommaoftwo You are welcome, Jessie!

  • Hellooooo, you're from Bulgaria? I looove Bulgaria (went 3 years in a row in summer and will go there again!). Big hug :)

  • @jubidzz Thank you!

  • My bottle is only a few months old and it has the warning! THANKS for sharing! Throwing mine OUT!

  • @steelnpurple Uh so sad... glad you know it now!

  • Thanks for letting us know!

Do you know which chemical it is?

  • @NataschaO I am not sure, sorry!

  • Thanks for the warning. California has stricter standards. I have noticed that many items sold in the U.S. have a warning about their use in the state of California. Everything from certain fabrics to dishes, housewares and cosmetics. There are a whole range of products that California deems unfit. I guess every other state in the U.S. says it is fine. There are always alternatives. Many polishes and topcoats are now sold free of all of these chemicals. Thanks again! Kisses~~Karen

  • @karenkupkake Thank you for the info!

  • ujas!

  • @TheGwendolline molia ti se, shtiah da pripadna taia sutrin...

  • Dibutyl Phthalate is in soo many things besides nail polish-I think Estee Lauder was among the first to remove it. I think OPI & Sally Hansen have now removed it. China Glaze also. My bottle of SV has the same warning-CA has worse air quality problems & therefore stricter standards than the US EPA does. Search for DBP free polishes or big 3 free polishes-DBH-Formaldehyde-Toluene.

  • @Catalina031 Thank you!

  • I think TiffanyD said that MEGA-SHINE by Sally Hansen is better (in her opinion)....and cheaper. She did a blog post about it. That may be a better alternative for you :) Was thinking of purchasing and now I dont think I will.

  • @rahanson13 I have this Sally's one, have to start using it! Thank you!

  • thank you Poli for the warning, I have stopped using mine because it made my nails peel but have found that Sally Hansen Mega Shine does the same job as the seche vite and as far as I can find no such warning.

  • @ziplockcan You are welcome!

  • @Policosmetics82 i bought mine in the UK last year, i found the info that the formulation in the uk is different because of said chemical which is named "Dibutyl phthalate" (quite a mouthfull) which isn't in mine - does your bottle state that ingredient?

  • Hi Poli!!!

I've read this on the back before. A lot of nail polishes have chemicals that are not healthy. The nail polishes that state they are 3 Free are the safest to use.

    *big hugs*

  • @Zoeebella Thank you, girl! Hugs back to you!

  • this warning isn't even on my bottle of the top coat :-O - now the question is, do i have an old one where they didn't state it yet or a new one where they removed said chemical... gotta look into that

  • @minion8 I got mine through a swap in January 2010. Let me know if you find out that they've changed it, please!
