  • From an article about Harry Manx and his instruments in Guitar Player Dec 2008 (pg 64):

"My banjo is a modified Gold Tone with a contact pickup. I string it with heavy strings, tune it down low to open C, and boost the low end to make it sound big and fat.

(This article is available at the harrymanx website under Press/Epk.)

  • It has 24 notes instead of the 12 everyone else uses and so there are notes that we dont even recognise as notes

  • This is not a banjo.....some people call them six string banjos which is really a marketing gimmick.A banjo has four string and one drone string and is tuned in open G to make use of the open position scales. My point is that calling this resonator guitar a banjo is a bit like calling a crayola crayon a paintbrush........However Harry Manx is a badass and one of my very favorite musicians ever.He spent quite a bit of time in India and took a wife and learned the Indian scale system

  • Brilliant! What a guy! Is this six string bano a Banjitar? And if is - where can

    I buy one?

  • Great stuff.I think he's playing a gitjo!!

  • Wow, VC on banjo. Who'd a thunk. Nice cover with a unique sound of its own.

  • Never heard anything like this. It's great!

  • Hello, friend. Thank you. Words escape me. I usually can't shut up, so that is the highest complement I can pay anyone.
