I had a used 95 Sunfire, and the fuel cost was great, but it was absolutely unreliable for me. The car spent more times in the repair shop then on the road. The Head Gaskets blew twice, the onboard computer fried itself, electrical problems left and right, the abs system at times for no reason would stop working. After having it for 2 years, it died at 250,000KM. It was my first car. I believe the 95's were the first year models and maybe I purchased a lemon. Good Luck with your Sunfire!!

Pretty sad. My '00 sunfire 2.2 automatic shuts off with rev limiter at 110mph (180kmh) only running 4k rpm. You're pushing redline to do that. Pretty funny.

Actually, a 2.2 ecotec will rape your raped ape. 15.3 1/4 mile stock... 5 hp less, and 5 ft-lbs less torque, but its all aluminum, and has wider torque curves and holds its power better through out the rpm range. Its faster then an ld9, but not a lot. The engines are on par pretty much.
Hmmm...tell that to all the 2.2's I smoke at the track every week. I've moved on to the new Si's tho. I haven't seen anyone put a 2.2 stock thru the 1/4 yet under 15.5, of course, it's all the hole shot and i'm pretty good at that.

I've only been up to 160 in my Sunfire, don't see the need for pushing it any further, and the engine starts sucking gas like a bitch lol. Not to mention that's a $1000 fine and a 30 day suspension plus 6 demerit points, and I've been pulled over doing 100 in a 50. (was let off though, wasn't my fault).

@ecomadness i agree i did my own blue and silver interior but my car is blue and my enblems r silver so they actually match unlike a tan car and a red interior, me and my brother did mine our selfs in 20 degree weather outside with the wind blowing and it still turned out great and i bought a set of white face guages to go with it

holy smoker doodles. this car sure rips it up. i absolutely love sunfires they are such a manly car and and guy that drives one is so sweeeeeeeeet. you need to put spinning hub caps on though. i did it to my 1999 sunfire 4 door and it gave me close to 10 hp. now im sitting at about 1200 hp in mine

Sorry dude...my 96 GT 2.4 LD9 will smoke your 2.2. It's got 143000 miles without a rebuild, still runs like a raped ape with bolt-ons and NA. 197 WHP last dyno. Your EcoTec needs $2000 worth of work just to get even with my stock 2.4 wizzpuppy. BTW..crap camera work and really bad music.

Actually, a 2.2 ecotec will rape your raped ape. 15.3 1/4 mile stock... 5 hp less, and 5 ft-lbs less torque, but its all aluminum, and has wider torque curves and holds its power better through out the rpm range. Its faster then an ld9, but not a lot. The engines are on par pretty much.

@black96fire The 03 has the 2.2 Ecotec DOHC motor, not the 2.4 and not the 2.2 OHV. That was pre-2002 motors.
The 2.4 is pretty much equal in performance to the Ecotec.

And yes, get a clue and figure out your conversion. You can clearly see the mp/h marked in orange beneath the white km/h. 180 km/h = 112.5 mp/h. I've only been up to 160 in my Sunfire, don't see the need for pushing it any further, and the engine starts sucking gas like a bitch lol. Not to mention that's a $1000 fine and a 30 day suspension plus 6 demerit points, and I've been pulled over doing 100 in a 50. (was let off though, wasn't my fault).
