  • Wow. your fingerpicking is so accurate and you make it look so easy lol. Great cover of one of my favorite songs. There arent many "clean guitar" songs better than this one. Great job man.

  • @nathantim Thank you for watching and commenting. It is a wonderful song, I'd like to do and updated version of it with a more accurate drumtrack. One day. Did you see my lesson on this??

    Eezer

  • hey, i play classical guitar and was wondering if you have sheet music or tabs , hopefully sheet music though, for your arrangement of this.?...or if anyone knows where to find good sheet music or tabs for this?

  • @rainbowzombiebones Hi, thanks for watching, I have the tabs but only in powerpoint format (ones used for my tutorial video of this song). If you're interested please send me your email address and I'll get right on it. Thanks

    Eezer

  • ace guitarist

  • Great Cover

  • Thanks to your lesson I got this song down!! Definitely a classic.

  • Wow dude, you are blowing my mind. You are a better guitar player than Opeth's guitarists, and I guarantee that they would agree too! (serioulsy, Mikael has many times said that he doesn't consider himself a good guitar player) You played this song perfect! Keep it up!

  • @OpEtHfAn365 It actually sounds better 'cause he has a backing track playing as well, so it sounds better overall. No offence on the guy I think he's a great guitarist, specially good at finger-picking and classical stuff like this. But remember Opeth's guitarist is an all-rounder.

  • beautiful job

  • I'm a great Opeth, but I must admit that you just owned them with this cover...

  • Music at its best!!!!! Your phrasing outlines so "amazingly beautifully" the melody!

  • Awesome resonance, awesome playing, awesome guitar. I really like this cover.... there are many of them that I listend to here... but this one is quite near to the perfect.

  • Very nice!

What is the difficulty grade of this?

  • @Pianofy Advance for [Finger picking at least]

  • WOW! This is some excellent ear candy I must say.

  • excellent! 10/10

  • Exelent Job. Great. Love it.

    Good playing mate!

  • Yes Ghost of perdition is amazing

  • I'm learning this song too. Beautiful man, beautiful!

  • Don't forget:

    Camel - Never let go...

  • dude...feelin it. awesome.

  • exelente cancion nos vemos

  • @eezerian well, i'm having trouble with pretty much the entire song, i don't know when to use my thumb and when to use my other fingers, also my pinky is really wea.

  • Hey man, i'm learning this song and this is by far the best version on Youtube, great cover.

I'm learning the song and i'm having some trouble with my right hand, not really sure on what fingers to use on which string, can you give me some tips? how are you playing it?

  • @doppelganger013 Hey there, thanks for your comments, much appreciated. Which part are you having trouble with? Please let me know, as I'm aware that my tutorial doesn't talk about right hand fingerings. Cheers

    Eezer

  • @doppelganger013 I know im not much help probably, but i sugges the E bass string and the A bass string you pluck with your thumb, and you can assign the D G B E to your remaing fingers. hope this helps :D

  • @doppelganger013 Start out simple ;) Play Metallica's Nothing else Matters that's eeeasy

  • Pure respect m8.... pure respet.

    Amazing cover.

  • @Venomenn Thank you very much. More to come.

    Eezer

  • dude, you made my day, I love the way you play :D

  • @obzenful Thanks for checking out my videos again.

    Eezer

  • You're acoustic guitar(classical maybe) sounds very ncie in all your videos....I was wondering if you were using any effects while recording???

    Thx man

    Cheers from Quebec

  • Hey man, thank you for sharing your thoughts on my vids. With regard to effects, I tend to just rely on reverb (usually as a plug-in afterwards). This video was recorded directly into the camera though. The backing track was played through the sound system CD in my living room, and it's that track that has reverb. I need to do a more up to date version of this with my new gear and access to a great drum track. Here's hoping.

  • thanks for sharing thumbs up duuuude!

  • @ruleram1 Hey you're welcome man. It's great to share these amazing songs. More to come.

    Eezer

I wish I could play like that :) I love this song very much! What a masterpiece!

  • Thanks kilipeti for watching and commenting. I have a tutorial for this song on my channel plus another new song uploaded yesterday, check it when you get a moment. Thanks again

    Eezer

  • Yes that riff is a beauty. I had trouble with it to begin with, took a few takes if I remember, nothing worse than getting to 4 minutes in a song sounding great and then boom...start again.....anyhow I was pleased with the result.

It is quality music, thank you for posting your thoughts on this version. I had an awesome time playing it.

    Cheers

    Eezer

  • as we say in my country "te la comiste barbarazo" possible translation of what i wrote is " way to go my bro" , that version is outrageous , the notes are so rich , that riff to riff transition fullfils the song , i want to know if there's a link or a page where i can see the tabs , i will really apreciate it . regards from the Dominican Republic .

  • Thank you for commenting ulcares. Please find full tabs with tutorial on my channel. It's a privilege to play this music. I'm very glad that you enjoyed my version. With my new gear I was thinking of posting a re-run. I'd love to play it again (it's been 3 yrs now)..

    Thanks again

    Eezer

  • this is the best benighted cover on youtube (y)

  • Thank you ephebos, please check my other Opeth covers on my channel. This is an awesome track indeed.

    Eezer

  • Very nice job :]]

  • Come into this night when you able.

    To undo your deeds.

And atone with your lonely soul.

    Great song, Great cover

  • really really good man, i have one question. do you listen to opeths heavy songs?

  • Hey Mark, sorry to take ages. Thanks for your comments and of course for watching. I absolutely listen to all the songs from all their albums. I listened to just their softer acoustic songs first and kept skipping the heavier ones. but it wasn't long before I delved deeper. Saw them in Australia in November and I'm still raving about it....Ghost of Perdition..my goodness.

    Thanks again for watching.

    Eezer

  • the beginning is from a band called camel look for the song never let go...you'll see what i mean...btw awesome cover

  • Haven't heard this in a while, thanks for the email. This still sounds great!

  • fantastic job! I also learnt this not long ago. Probably Opeth's best all-''acoustic'' song. The outro riff sends shivers down my spine on every listen..

    thanks for posting : )

  • strewth... awfully good job! i seriously wish i could play acoustics now.

  • Damn... it was all correct - 5/5... I feel really happy that i find people who listen and play stuff like that :) this is the most beautiful song ever heard, I'm in love with this song through years..

    Good job dude!!!

  • dude i would love some tabs on your work for both guitar parts on this and patterns II your fuckin amazing dude lol

  • Hey Calamity, thanks for your kind words and for checking out my other videos. Just to let you know that I have just uploaded the song explaining how to play from start to finish. Please go to my channel to find them.

    Thanks again

    Eezer

  • You must have been playing for a decade or two atleast. That was flawless.

  • Thanks Slayerkid, I'm working on tabs for Patterns in the Ivy 2 (I know you asked me ages ago for that) and I have finished tabs for Patterns 1, if you would like a copy please send me your email address and I'll get right on it.

Thanks again for watching my videos.

    Eezer

  • WOW! That was the best cover I've seen of Benighted - I wish I could fingerpick, it's so hard for me (girl that has very short nails). Ha, I was going to request Face of Melinda but I see you already have it! Let's see.... OH! You should cover coil from the newest album.

  • Haha, thanks for your comments Pixie. I hope you like my Melinda version. Also please have a look at my new video which is "Windowpane". Thank you so much for watching and there will be more. Good luck with your fingerpicking.

    Eezer

  • Hey Pixie, please have a look at my channel as I've just finished the tutorial for 'Benighted', it's a bit long and in two parts but I'm sure there are passages in there that will help with your fingerpicking.

    All the best

    Eezer

  • Fantastic 3 thumbs up that was quite impressive!!

  • Thank you Goalie, I'm glad you liked my arrangement of one of my favourite songs. Please check for more.

    Eezer

  • I have finally mastered this. :D

  • Congrats man, it's a beauty. Hopefully you can post your version some time. Thanks for watching my version.

    Eezer

  • GEEEeeezzz

Eezer, good job bro this is the best cover of Benighted I've seen on Youtube. Plus I've learned the part I was having problems with by watching your video..

    Thanks for this Eezer

    Ant

  • Hey Ant, man thank you so much for your feedback on my Benighted cover. I'm glad that my version helped you work out some problems and get further with it. Did you finish it? I'd love to hear. As I said to Frostlux I'd like to post a full tutorial on this song (and others) over Christmas so please stay tuned for more. Cheers man.

    Eezer

  • @eezerian yeah it was the part when the vocals come in for some reason I had problems with the timing, but now its all good and can't wait for the tutorials...Its amazing that I found your channel that shows you how to play my #1 favorite band Opeth songs

  • Hey ant, how are you?, I know that you already play Benighted but I wanted to let you know that I have now posted those tutorials. Cheers and enjoy.

    Eezer

  • Absolutely beautiful, you play with such confidence and your skill is absolutely amazing. I want to start to play this song but I'm still very new and don't think I'd get very far. Maybe I'll try farther down my guitar path haha.

  • Thank you for finding and commenting on my Opeth video. I think this would be a great start for any guitar player even just to learn the fingerpicking at the beginning would be awesome. I wish I'd started with Opeth, so in a way you have a fantastic opportunity. What I'd really like to do is a tutorial on how to play these songs. Possibly over Christmas when I get some time. Till then, thanks again and good luck with your guitar playing.

    Eezer

  • Hey Frostlux, I have now uploaded the tutorial on 'Benighted', it's in two parts and a bit long but everything is covered. I enjoyed doing them and no doubt more will follow. Have fun.

    Eezer

  • My goodness... This is perhaps the most beautiful cover I have ever heard... How amazing you are... ~Smiles~ Thank you so much for sharing this with the world... ~hug~

  • Hey there ObsidianSin, thank you so much for commenting on my video. I am still amazed that people are finding my videos (specially the older vids) and enjoying them. There will be more Opeth from me, I love putting these songs together. I'm one week away from seeing Opeth live for the first time....gasp. Cannot wait. I loved your comment very much. Stay tuned for more.

    Eezer

  • I was SO happy to read you will be posting up more songs! Thank you so much!!

  • Such a wonderful rendition of such a wonderful song. Well done!

  • Thank you for watching, Bourikaldo. I always wanted to play this one. Please have a look at some of my other Opeth covers. More to come.

    Eezer

  • i said : you play this cover very well and it's a beautiful song .

  • Yes it is a beautiful song. Thanks for translating for me. I do appreciate your comments very much. There is more to come so please keep checking.

    Eezer

  • fucking awesome, spot on my goal on guitar is to able to play this song xD

  • Thank you for watching Angelof Death and for commenting. I hope you master this one as it is so nice to play. Please check for more Opeth from me.

    Eezer

  • nice!

  • whats awesome is that while i use picks for all this songs... u use finger pickin... ur freaking awesome dude... wow

  • ah man, you have to finger pick this song! there's no way to replicate the intricacies of this, and lots of opeth's sound, with a pick.

  • He is fingerpicking?

  • Yeah thanks Checkillo, fingers really allow you to get feel of the song. It makes it difficult but very worthwhile. Thanks for checking my videos and there will be more soon.

    Eezer

  • tres bonne reprise vraiment

  • vraiment beau morceau de la gestion a l'etat pur!!!!

  • Fuckin awsome. I love your attack too.

  • Comment removed

  • MASTER!!!!

  • How do you do that? You can even play the vocals on your guitar!!!! I am completely stunned now..!! This is my favourite song in the world and you are so perfect at playing it..!! thank you for this awesome post!

  • Hey pornoramic, sorry to take ages to respond to your comment, I must have missed it. I always try to respond to everyone's comments and say thanks. Yeah the vocal line was a bit "touch and go" but once I started messing around with the notes it just came together. I am pleased with it but I'm looking at doing a revised version with my new gear. We'll see. In the meantime please check my other Opeth covers and thank you again for watching my video.

    Eezer

  • I haven't learnt to play an instrument, I'd love to, but don't have the patience. I let my artistic outlet through drawing; but I adore this song by Opeth and this is fantastic guitar playing here. I only wish I could play like this someday!

  • Hey Blacktongue. Thanks for commenting on my video and good luck with your drawing. My wife's an artist and I certainly can vouch for the patience and talent required there. I love to play Opeth...I can't find another band that can do...what they do, and for some reason the songs seem to fit on my guitar. New song very close. Thanks again.

    Eezer

  • You are amazing!!!!! what a grrreat performance....

  • Thank you for watching and commenting on my videos, Proggerful. Please keep checking for new ones.

    Eezer

  • HOLY SHIT!!! *jizz* O.O

    Eezer

  • beautiful, definitely a bookmark video

    Eezer

  • this song is just so fun to play! great vid

  • Thanks for watching.

    Eezer

  • wow u kick assss gorgeous cover

  • Thank you for watching and commenting on my vids Ozzy, I appreciate it very much. More to come.

    Eezer

  • really great work you did there! I really enjoyed all your videos so far! keep up the good work! :)

  • Thank you JussiDT, more to come.

    Eezer

  • very cool

thats an acoustic electric im assuming

you should get a hook up for a computer program like garage band and make a studio version

    Ill buy it

  • Hi Parkerbob. Thank you for checking out my vids. The guitar is a "Gilet" classical from Sydney, and is totally acoustic. There were 2 guitar parts in this song - one live and one pre-recorded. The pre recorded backing track has a little reverb plug in and I think that is why you thought it might be an electric acoustic.

    Glad you enjoyed it

    Eezer

  • You are incredible sir.

  • Thank you Verdugo, that is very kind of you to say. It amazes me still that people continue to find my videos and comment on them so positively. More Opeth to come from me.

    Eezer

  • Very musical. I really enjoyed that!

  • Thanks for watching my videos Chris.

    Eezer

  • Amazing played... and a amazing song by opeth. Its so atmospheric, haha.

I think you should try playing this song: Cavatina - Deer Hunter theme

I think you would master it perfectly!

You should look at Stanley Myers version of the song when your on it :)

  • great job man,

im trying to learn this song on an Electric cus i dont have an acoustic yet =p

its going okay so far xD

  • hey motherfucker, i want learn to play like u, teach me!

  • I would kill to see a video(better yet if I go to the show!) of Opeth playing songs like Hours of wealth or Dirge for november live. I fuckin love those songs, and they would sound completely overkill live.

I just heard Benighted and started learning it 2. very nice song

  • Hey Rodriguito, I have uploaded a couple of videos of "How to Play Benighted" by Opeth, just in case you needed some help learning the song.

    CHeers

    Eezer

  • that was great, I just saw opeth at dc yesterday amazing show, keep up the great work

  • Hey Pantera, thanks for checking out my vids.

    Eezer

  • how long did you practise this before you got this good?

  • This one took a couple of weeks to get right and build up the guitar parts. Glad you liked it.

    Eezer

  • ive started learning this song, its actually not that hard

  • this is awesome

  • wow 1:18 you nailed, hardest part of the song in my opinion. This is about the only good cover i could find, good job

  • Thanks for watching Hobomick. Glad you enjoyed my version.

    Eezer

  • Very, very gooood!

  • thats badass how you picked out the voicing of it

  • Yeah thanks, the vocal line was not originally in my mind for this one, but it came together nicely once the backing track was done. I need to re-do it with a kick-ass drummer. Next time.

    Eezer

  • Awesome cover! great skills!

  • Thanks for watching and commenting on my vids. More to come.

    Eezer

  • Wow im impressed by this, i just wish someone would uploaded a lesson of this song or To Bid You Farewell, its hard to learn from the tabs, for me at least being a newbie. Well Great Job!!!

  • Thanks Mariano, yes I'll do a 'tutorial' on all my vids at some stage, that is definite.

    Eezer

  • I appreciate the responses eezerian, thank you.

  • This is the only Opeth song I like, and you did an amazing job at it.

My brother even thinks it's better than the original track.

    High praise, my friend!

  • Thanks Emi, I appreciate your comments very much...say thanks to your bro too, that's one hell of a commendation....I gotta ask, the only one of Opeth that you like (or your favourite??)...just wondering.

    Thanks again for watching...and enjoying

    Eezer

  • Haha, I'm not a big Opeth fan. "Benighted" is the only song by them I like.

Good work... again :) Gets better every time I listen. :P

    -Emi.

  • personally i could have done without the drum track being added. Being a drummer myself im more critical of drumming, and the track just didnt feel right. your putting such a generic unsoulful beat in with some of the most beautiful guitar?

  • Thanks Willy, Larztallica is putting a drumtrack together for me (of this song and other Opeth) so I should re-do it as soon as I can. Unfortunately it was all I had to work with at the time. Since then the only way for me has been to use a digital program to run the drumtrack, this is better but still nowhere near what I want, really. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

    Eezer

  • damn.... you sound like an orchestra of guitars.... loop station?.... it sounded really kool when you played the melody of the vocals on guit

  • Thanks Rainmaker, I'm glad that you enjoyed my version of this gem. Not a loop station but I pre-recorded 3 tracks on to mp3 using cooledit and soundforge then played through my home theatre system in the background. I had to leave enough room on the backing track for the live guitar.

    Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Eezer

  • wow that totally rocked my socks id love to hear you play that live... your guitar is tuned to perfection (as far as i can hear from a recording thats been degraded when uploaded to youtube) but the timing and harmony is perfect. i much prefer this to opeths version >.> and theyre my fav band.

  • Hey Willy, thank you for your very generous comments man, I really appreciate it. I'm hoping to do a couple more during next week's holidays. Here's hoping cos I'm ready to go.

    Eezer

  • wow I love your version, i would love to learn it with the voicings..do you have a tab of this?? i would really appreciate it.

  • Thanks Shakemaster, I don't have a tab of the voicings. I'll do it at some stage and get back to you. A couple of other people have requested the same.

    Cheers for watching and commenting.

    Eezer

  • Hey Shakemasta, I just posted videos of "Benighted" that show you how to play the song. Not the vocal part though, I might do that in the future.

    Cheers

    Eezer

  • wonderfull

  • that guitar had me in a trance floating over mt. tops then i heard digital drums and quickly fell back into reality. blows my mind

  • Excellent cover!

  • so magical

  • That was awesome!Keep up the good work!

  • Great!

    Really nice job:)

  • Thanks proth, please make sure you check out my other Opeth covers such as Face of Melinda and To Bid You Farewell.

    Eezer

  • Really, really good!

  • Thanks for commenting.

    Eezer

  • Holy shit! This is really good!

The drums are a little off though, If you ever need to redo it, I can provide you with the drums.

  • thanks for watching Gunglitcher. Glad you enjoyed it. I know the drums bite big time. Oh well, next time.

    Eezer

  • This is incredible.

I've been trying to learn this song for months, and it seems impossible.

  • Thanks fetus, keep at it man, it is tricky in places so keep going with it, such a great song tho...

    Eezer

  • Hey fetus, I just uploaded a couple of lessons on how to play Benighted. I know you were having trouble with it so this might help.

    Cheers

    Eezer

  • kickass

  • haha....thanks alejandro,

    Eezer

  • Thanks dreamwar. More Opeth to come soon..

    Eezer
