cleaning once a week is part of the problem. maintain the cleanliness always. done w/your meal? clean the plate. toss the uneaten or put it in tupperware in the fridge for next time. dirty clothes go in the laundry bag as soon as it's taken off. hang the jacket. floors & chairs are not closets. i had to FORCE myself to be tidy because my mom is a hoarder w/a gross house & i was starting to act like her so i changed. you'd love apartment therapy dotttt com. look at their clutter and storage tips.
