  • wikipidia is the worst source for info.. you could get better info from a 2 year old

  • NO

  • Wikipedia is a good source of info for anyone that doesn't care about getting things completely accurate or who are lazy. Sure some things are correct, but anyone can put anything on wiki. At uni we are told never to use wiki as a source of information and I agree. We actually get marked down for referencing wiki.

So many people use it as their only source of info, then argue if a more legit source says otherwise cause they think wiki is always accurate.

  • As with any reference of information for academic purposes,it should be crossed referenced to verify its validity. However, for casual, or even infotainment, wikapedia is a good source for people to pool communal knowledge.

  • The commercial that came on before this video told me to pee in the shower.......

  • can you piss on your sister?

  • "spill" is game in Norwegian

  • no cleavage >:(

  • Masons use the black and white marbles (beans) for voting...even today.it is used to approve or reject applicants..white for yes, black for no.

    True.

  • NO!

  • I mean aren't I? And she's cute I guess...

  • Comment removed

  • To spill the beans is why information means misfortune in Latin: Hope you suffer more misfortune.

  • You can't trust wikipedia especially when it should be wikipaedia (if you know the semantivs of the English language).

  • I'd love to spill my beans on ur face =p

  • Знакомый акцент)

  • I know if one of my students (undergrad psych) cites a Wikipedia reference in an APA paper I disallow the reference and give them the chance to remove the reference and replace it with something else. Once.

  • Your accent is shitty...

  • Wikipedia is very good for some things but you have to be careful. I would be a lot less trusting of anything I read on that site pertaining to any topic which is political in nature. I've found some entries to be not only incomplete but downright false in such cases.

  • ¤ø„¸¸„ø¤º°¨¸„ø¤º°¨ post to 3 other vids

  • no... wikipeidia is BAD!!!

  • nonsense

  • I agree with jizzonyourass!! Six parts? really Serialkiller? You need to get laid bud!!

  • wtf serialkiller really six parts, most people already know that shit... it doesnt really matter

  • I think Wiki is a good source, but you can't rely on it entirely.

I think that dismissing Wiki in advance is stupid. especially that people often do it because someone does refer to an information from Wiki when adding an good argument against them.

You need to remember that the information on Wiki are controlled by many professors, there are sources to most of the content, and falls information are quickly deleted (not all of them of course, you cant control everything).

    PART1

  • PART2

Checking out the sources is cumbersome, but you can get to them and see by yourself if they are true or not.

Otherwise you don't have solid evidence to dismiss them.

And since in most of the cases the only reason someone does dismiss the information from wikipedia is because they don't fit his beliefs, and not because he is a expert on the subject (with an diploma), or even well informed, you need those hard evidence to prove you right.

  • PART3

And because most of the information in wikipedi are reliable (especially in bigger articles about less recent events on with the emotions had fallen, and with are not controversial).

The biggest problem is that informations can be exploited and manipulated (those from the sources), with is a problem of books (with some of you may think are 100% reliable), documentaries, and generally any media.

But then again, there are people controlling the quality of information on Wiki.

  • PART4

This is somewhat an advantage, the number of people creating wikipedia in the context of its quality of information.

Because the more people does it, the less the probability of some illegitimate information being published on wiki (at least for a long time, because you cant really avoid it entirely).

But there is also an big drawback with concerns most of the people questioning wiki. The fact that anyone can edit it.

But its not as much of a danger as everyone thinks.

  • PART5

    Think about it.

Note how often articles are edited (not very often), and how quickly any falls information are removed (very quickly).

Also if any untrue information could stay on Wiki for longer it would have to be very well written and thought through with drastically limits the number of people that could do that.

The problem with wiki mentioned in HotForWords, about the etymology of words shows what happens when you dont have the full picture.

  • PART 6

Wiki is not complete, and probably articles about origins of words are not very developed.

In one of the examples i seen, there where one of the possible origins out of 3 or 4, and it was not the most probable one (the one accepted among philologists).

And this is how Wiki works, someone knew only one and posted it, and thats why you need to be cautious relying solely on Wiki.

I admit that Wiki is not as credible and complete as an well known book, but it an valuable source.

  • What the fuck stop commenting its just a fucken video.

  • Haha you are the cutest :)))

  • To look shit up on the internet doesn't take brains. I have serious doubts as to whether she really is intelligent but you never do know.

The only reason anybody takes her seriously is because she is "hot".

  • GOAT_HEAD(go-ahead) and the beans were read by candelite and cow-peas...its true---please tell on me, hea-hea...goathead soup and the cow peas(piss)

  • U should not use wiki.I made an account and made retarted answers . Ps she's smokin hot

  • I don't use Wikipedia much.

I do it old fashion(that sounds weird),

    I use encyclopedias(ah much better).

  • once while on wikipedia, i don't remember what i was reading, but what i found looked as if it was typed by a four year old. i don't think i will be using wikipedia anymore. thanks for the vid. i used it for a school essay! oh crap.....

  • smart and beautiful

    world needs more of u!

  • @PGZ4sheezy Lol @ smart.

  • its a pretyy good source of information...

  • I bet your sis is way fu*kin better than you, if u wana contradict me, show her :D

  • Wikipedia is run by moderators.

If someone stupid writes something, they can delete it in a second.

  • actually wikipedia has been proven to be more accurate than actual encyclopedias

  • I wouldn't rely on it for sources. Its good to browse info when you're curious, but not always for 100% accurate info. Especially when a lot of their articles say things like things like "no sources for this article are available".

Its funny, but I was reading this one article that looked like it was typed by somebody in middle school...

  • She pronounces the W a V

    it's cute :)

  • Another parallel expresion is [LET THE CAT OUT OF THE BAG]. do you mean GULLIVER'S TRAVELS? I used to have these little cheap grocery store encyclopeidias Illustrated World which had short synopsises of the great literature at the end of each volume. I like my Encarta on my PC.

  • the way u talk annoys me.. =s

  • your sister has the same accent as you

  • But you still didnt explained why they use the word 'beans' and not 'grain' or blood' for example!

  • I respect that you stood up for yourself to whoever it was that said that of you. People in this country usually say bad things about those who they are intimidated by, and it really never says anything about the person who they are attempting to debunk, it usually says something about themselves, you will find. Afterall, there is nothing wrong with checking more than one source for information of any kind. How else could you crack the case? Good luck.

  • can i spill some beans on those tits

  • lol

  • Can I spill some beans on your tummy?

  • i like you ! :)

  • Yes and no.

  • you talk funny!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! xD no offence

  • she talks "funny" because she i from russia. and nobody cares, we only listen to what her boobs say...

  • Wikipedia...it's okay. There are a lot of interesting things on there and for the most part, things are true. Every now and then, you might find an extreme false or two, I guess it depends on what your looking up. Oh well, it's all about personal preferences. :D (YAY, my homework's done!!!! LOL)

  • Anything that isn't legitimate on Wikipedia gets deleted very fast.

  • It told me the first americans were marshmallow men...

  • she said Vikipedia! what r u? a russian? a pole?

  • HELL NO!!!!!

Wikipedia is allmost always wrong ]-P.

  • yeh it pwns rofl, marry mee, ur sister is hawt i rekon

  • Hey hotforwords. Can you look up what the phrase O.K. means? What does the O and the K stand for?

  • O.K. Is ust short for "Okay" The actual word haha just letting you know.

  • umm.. okay actually is just a misspelling of OK. im pretty sure when you say O.K. its the actual letters... that only makes sense..

  • I would have thought it was a derivative of mediocre.. but only marina knows the truth :p

  • OK is short for okay, yes, but the sound 'okay' may originally come from the initials OK themselves, especially since the sound is so international. There are many different theories about there the abbreviation came for. A list can be found on wikipedia under 'list of proposed etymologies of OK'

  • thanks :)

  • Wikipedia's OK.

A very reliable way to receive information is through my penis. You should try it sometime.

  • Wiki? Yes

  • we had a lexika test in germany and wikipedia won

  • I like to use it for getting some info on something, then googling it to learn more.

  • I use Wikipedia when I am curious about someone or something. The Bios on Wiki are good. As for the other stuff, sure, it's informative enough to address my needs. But if I needed information for an academic piece I would not rely on it.

    So, yeah, I love Wiki.

  • Sent me your sister. HaHaHaHa. Is she as fine as you are ?

  • she's full of shit and obsessed with guns. sick bitch.

  • 1:05 lol X_X

  • this is gay

  • all i no is everything i ave seen there checks out, XCEPT 1 thing, so i will say 75% pf the time

  • crack-a-pedia is a horrible source

  • How do you know this crap? Where do you research this? Leave your research notes, this would definitely add to your reputation as a trusty source for facts.

  • you can't use Wikipedia as an academic source for any academic work.

you can only use it for reference and to forward you to scientific or academic approved articles.

  • u guys shudent fight its not good and ur both fucking hot as hell so u should both team u and do it together INSTEAD OF FIGHTNG

  • жаль у меня такиx учителей очаровательныx не было )

А так, ну да постоянно юзаю, только обычно на мои вопросы всегда можно проверить эти ответы. Или надо искать еще в 3-4еx сурсаx. А доверять, да изредка доверяю.

  • I thought it was obvious that she is making a joke and that saying that her source isn't from wiki.

  • i want your body damn your fine

  • yes, sometimes wickipedia is kinda good. Years in another hand may not always be true.

    xx Cajsa

  • Wikipedia has a reputation for not being accurate. However, sometimes I use it as a quick source of information.

  • can't resist. too cute. *-*

    i want a hug. (L)

  • Thank you for pointing out that you can't trust wiki all the time!

  • Man. You're sister is a real bitch!

  • There is no sister. It's her too duh!

  • uh,if one associates the phrase pissed off with water sports or urination sports does that mean serious mental problems?

  • Hello, I'm an internet tough guy.

  • ^^LMFAO

  • Do you actually have a sister? Because I'm pretty sure by now that you don't.

  • Wikipedia is useful if you take the info from it with a grain of salt.

  • wikipedia sucksssssssssss just google stuff also what kind of accent is that i <3 it :D

  • Your fascination with words and languages is very refreshing. Do you have a simialr interest for accents? Can you speak english as an english person or an american?

    Sig

    :)

  • I wish I had this show instead of sesame street when I was younger. Things would have been way different if big bird was a hot intelligent foreign girl. (sounds russian. but not knowing kind of adds to the intrigue.) None the less keep it up.

  • ummmmmm love ur accent

  • er what? gullible's travels? you mean gulliver's?

  • omg you can't say pissed.

  • Curious thing about "piss" and "pissed".

    "Piss" appears twice in the King James Version of the Bible, once as a noun and once as a verb. "Pissed" can mean "drunk" in the United Kingdom;

"pissed" or "pissed off" can mean "upset" in the U.S. That's obviously how Marina is using it.

  • i love wikipedia because my teachers recommend us 2 use it. so if we get crap information from wikipedia and put it in a report i can blame on wikipedia

  • u do know wikipedia is a edit page too. anyone can edit it. like in an article about cherries you could put HAHA.

  • Yes, it is true that anyone can edit an article. But go find me a wiki that has random information such as your "Haha" in an article that shouldn't shouldn't belong there.

The articles are moderated and referenced.

  • wtevr

  • It would be funny if the voice they use for her sister had a ny accent instead of russian

  • is she a russian?just curious cuz her accent...anyway

  • yes, she's from nizhni novograd

  • your sister needs to get her ass kicked!

  • Hey hotforwords, can you please tell me what the origon of "as easy as pie" is?

  • Wikipedia? Umm... Maybe not the best.

  • u r nasted and we know what spilled the beans is and yeah whatever

  • I LOVE YOU!!! WOOOOOOOH!

  • wikipedia is a good place to start if you have no idea about the subject/question that you are trying to research, but you still need to check a peer reviewed source after you've been steered in the right direction

  • "You deserve it."

dam. your sis is a bitch

    o.O

  • I think wikepedia is pretty good but not if you want to do very in depth stuff like word or phrase origins. Its better to use for animals or games and stuff like that.

  • where does "raging hardon" come from?

    YOU thats where!

  • Wikipedia is a good source for starting, but knowing that you really need to dig deeper to get more intel

  • i think it is a good suroce.

  • Gullible's travels? or Gulliver's Travels? is there a gullible's travels?

  • That was a play on words, I think.

  • YES!

  • Wikipedia is not to good for information it is bad for that

  • Wikipedia seems to be a very reliable source of information - but then I may be too Gullible!

  • I think Wikipedia is useful and can be trusted in some areas... but not others. Usually, it is a trustable source of info that is usually available widely at other websites, but it becomes rather unreliable when it comes to information that is hardly found. Many a time I have found really bad errors in the information, and though I still use it, I would definitely not rely on it as my only source. I like to compare sources.

  • Wikipedia is reliable..i mean for the fact thaT it helped me do my worldwide currency track called libre solidi denari.. but it also has alot of b/s in it due to the goverment influence.. like the 9/11 and 7/7 bombings...yea anyway..the first explanation b4 yer sis spilled the beans was a bit more classy

  • At one time I used wikipedia a lot then I started to see just too many errors and no longer use or recommend it in the classes I teach.

  • Wikipedia is really good!!.. Of course Anyone can write anything, but then these are again validated and edited.. Yah! So lets not go crapping abt Wikipedia..! Anyone who disagrees have not used wiki then.
