  • Kinda mad at you for replacin the music...and then you made up for it with that comment at 2:19 XD

  • Actually, in the myth Eurydice turned to stone when Orpheus looked back at her, she didn't disappear.

  • HOLY SHIT! At the end I saw the name Terry Cavanagh! I didn't know he made this game. In fact, I just recently played through VVVVVVV AGAIN! That surprised me.

  • I like this game a lot actually. The concept and execution are great! It's dark and simple at the same time. :D Great game!

  • You bastardized such a sad game and thats why you are awesome XD

Love the dont forget to pay your taxes part.

  • Terry Cavanagh is a genius

  • Is music how you melt hearts? No.

    Bullets.

  • What's interesting is that the new music actually fits the gameplay quite well.

  • This funky beat is now permanently stuck in my brain. And I liiiiike it.

  • I knew you were going to say, "platforms that dont call back." And I said it right before you.

I need to take a break from D.C.

  • Haaaaa. When I defeated the boss, I was about to cross over, but then that spike came down and hit me. I had to fight him again.

  • I didn't know orpheus had a gun.

  • @gocrazed1 Of course he did. Why do you think they called him Gunpheus?

  • ITS DRACULA!!! AND THE SPIDER KING!! FUZED!!

  • so... that guy was a greek mythology major? with a bug imagination?

  • He didn't play sad music he just whacked his instrument that I can't remember the name of with a stone.

  • @burningflurber it was a lyre

  • Flashing my eyes, like those Virtual Boy games.

Also, bats that look like Navi : Bad, don't listen to them.

  • Must. Have. Music...

    Must. Have. Music...

    Must. Have. Music...

  • This game is waaay harder than it looks. The story it's based on is actually kinda sad :/

DC, you are soo funny I really enjoy your videos XD

  • This is a funny game.

  • Are you Kenneth from 30 Rock?

  • If i remember correctly, there WAS no music in this game. it was silent, with sound effects and rain.

  • @BeGrunge Wrooooooong.

  • @DeceasedCrab The music reminds me of Shantae somewhat.

  • Well, shoot. I just found out that you used different music, and I didn't find out from the comments. Would you be a pal and tell us where you got the music used in this playthrough?

  • Oh wow. Thanks for reminding me about Dre.

  • I played this over at Newgrounds. Great game.

  • Wierd game...But..it's...so...awesome..

  • You were joking about the music, right? Cause it never changes.

  • wow one game i actually played

  • this game is awesome but sadly its easy

  • You replaced the music, you sneaky person.

  • I deny these wild accusations.

  • Deny it if you dare, and deny TOO that you are DECEASED CRAB! :P

  • @DeceasedCrab And now I need to know where you found said falsified music D:

  • @DeceasedCrab sorry, but replacing the music was a lame, overly cutesy move. the music is actually a beautiful complement to the minimalist style of this wonderful game, and you've done it a disservice to score some wacky points.

    shitty move, bro.

  • @scorinaldi Wow. Way to get overly offended by that. I like the music, but I wanted to do something fun, because I could. And here you are, getting your undergarments in a knot. Shitty comment, bro.

  • @scorinaldi dude, don't question deceasedcrab

  • The funny thing is, I would have never noticed that you replaced the music if not for the lack of the sound effect that plays when you reach the grave again. ;p

  • This music sounds like it could fit perfectly in any Monkey Island game.

    Anyone with me ?

  • The music of this game is definitely beautiful.

  • DeceasedCrab is my absolute FAVORITE LPer of all time. There are a few other good LPers but none that can quite match the level of comedy mixed with sheer grammar-rage that DC so readily pumps out of his very being.

  • That's really awesome.

  • What is that music oh my goodness I must have it and play it forever run on sentences.

  • ITS A STALAGTITE NOT A SPIKE YOU FUCKING RETARD!!! GOD DAMN!!!

    (joking)

  • Is it still a stalagtite when it's not connected to the ceiling of a cave?

  • No.

  • This made me sad.

    Don't make me sad, DC.

  • What is that music you're playing? Sounds awesometastic.

  • Gasp! What a plot twist!!!

  • Why is the number 2 trying to kill you?

  • He wants information. Information. INFORMATION!

  • AWESOME!

  • oooooooooh Greek Mythology

Orpheus and Eurydice tale, Don't Look Back, nice one.

  • this game reminds me a lot of the game Out of This World for the SNES

  • Epic music? O_O

  • you can just jump on the middle rope in that room with the 2 moving spike things

  • in the room with the 2 big rock throwing demons, I killed the bottom one first, then just took my time jumping at taking potshots at the top one

  • I had trouble in that room with the 2 bats and snake too

  • You know DC, a lot of people rag on your videos (Retsupurae comes to mind) but I love them, keep them coming :).

  • Shrug. People enjoy my videos, so I'll make em whenever I want, however I want.

  • You really got to get used to that music.

  • O_o

    What the...?

  • This video is brought too you by the number 2

  • Actually Orpheus in his grief stumbled upon a group of Maenads, female followers of Dionysus who tore him to shreds and ate him.

  • Why?

  • I think all that was left was his head, floating downstream. The creepy part is it was still singing, I think.

  • After he refused to play for them.

  • LOVE the music

  • your audio files got swapped DC though im sure you realise that now.

Also for those who are wondering, f I remember my mythology right the doglike boss is supposed to be cerberus, and the final end boss issupposed to be Hades god of the underworld. The six armed things I cant identify

  • you got your music clips reversed DC

  • this game is MUCH better on mute!

  • I wish you left in the real music. Not this happy tune. The sad and haunting one.

  • Comment removed

  • Is deceased crab truly deceased now or just on a very long hiatus?

  • This song makes me wanna dance

  • it's actually the music for I Was In The War, how the fuck he got them switched I will never know. Unless he tells me.

  • It's really not that hard. Play them on mute, record yourself and the alternate music. Interlace them together later.

  • the game is actually quite sentimental on mute

  • It's even moreso when the REAL music is being played.

  • BAT'S UMBRELLA ... DARN IT

  • Those hopping things remind me of the indians from Mondo Medical

  • was the epic music thing sarcasm?

  • yes

  • I am reminded of the old old C64 Aztec Challenge game. Only you have infinite lives here.

  • I played this game and it was EXACTLY the same but it had different music, sad music.

  • 3:00 the "dog" boss is Cerberus. Hence why you need to shoot him three times. Once for each of his three heads.

  • Or maybe it's just a dog.

  • No its Cerberus. This game is hard to make out but it makes since if it is based off the story.

  • This music is EPIC man! :)

  • too bad it's not the music from the game...

  • "Platforms that break up. Platforms that never call!" I love it.

This is awesome. Except I found myself longing for a speck of blue or green. Kind of like the days of the Virtual Boy.

  • The impression I got is that the guy was dead and it's someone else at the grave.

    Abstract graphics will do that.

  • I heard there was a bonus ending if you get through the game with out dieing or looking back after you get the girl....

  • Why is your music different from mine?

  • He changed it. Go watch his 'I was in the war' LP.

  • I thought the story went that the guy stepped out of Hades, then immediately turned around to look at her, and she was still technically in hell, so she disappeared. Maybe that was a christianized version or something.

  • That sounds more like Greek Mythology... those Greek gods can be real bastards...

  • Don't Look Back sounds more specific.

    Don't look back,direction wise.

    and what I think,

    Don't look back,time wise.

  • And your comments on the music were great

  • Man oh man I hated this game

  • I like this music better!

  • heh, you looked back

  • man that myth was kinda really sad.

his mind was filled with doubt and sadness that he looked back, and to find that she was really behind him.

    She died.

    that must really suck.

  • If I recall, the myth is even worse. She was already dead so she became uncreated. She didn't go back to Hades, she disappeared forever. That was Hades punishment for him, that even when he had finally died he still wouldn't be able to meet up with her in the afterlife. Greek Gods are real bastards.

  • thats basically it yeah, because his trust did not last until they BOTH left the cave, her essence was destroyed forever. He turned around just too soon, poor bastard.

  • No I don't think her soul was destroyed. she just went back down to hades. I have read versions that say years later when he died, he was finally reunited with her. Also some versions say that the shade wasn't really his wife, but a cruel joke by the gods

  • I thought that it was that he forgot himself in the moment that he was just about to enter the world of the living and turned around. Then he didn't get to see her until he finally died?

  • Your commentary is so, so strange.

  • Love you're sarcasm about the music

  • Ok, i really need to get the song that you used for this LP!!! NOW!!!!!

  • I would have picked "Never Return Alive" from Streets of rage 1 or 2 as a tune to fuck with people.

  • aww, DC, you put in fake music! thats a first. anyways, good job. do you have a link to the music or the song name?

  • The music's not completely fake, he just swapped the music from "I Was In The War" and vice-versa. As for a name... dunno...

  • Interesting concept for a game. Kinda like Vanilla Sky meets Greek mythology class

  • DC you insane zombie crab...

  • I recommend that you not take this recommendation.

  • OH NOW I GET IT! Oh... I know you'll explain in video, but now I understand why it is called Don't look back!

  • what's the name of that greek mythology story I can't hear you correctly

  • The music is so awesome.

  • With this music switch, it seems much more lighthearted game.

  • man, that myth takes me back. I always forget the name of orpheus' wife, though. I guess that's the thing with ancient greek names, though; they always seem to have some special quality that makes them go right out of your head.

  • Eurydice

    pronounced "your i dicey"

  • That was a very intertesting game... I didn't think anyone would make a agem based on THAT sad tale...

  • Reminds me of Alfredo's adventures on the old IBM Big Blue Disk Monthly- do a youtube search for Alfredo's Mortiferous Mentality.

  • What a clever game, and I must say the music in it was absolutely fantastic. Very catchy.

  • The line "Platforms that break up. Platforms that never call. We can make it work platforms!" had me in stitches. Thank you for this, DC, you truly are Youtube's greatest champion.

  • I was worried people weren't going to get that one. I fear that a lot of my jokes just swoop right by people.

  • Comment removed

  • Despite hearing the original music for this game,I prefer this song on it. :D

    Sounds funkier.

  • It looks as if you were shooting the dog in the ass...

  • The music is entertaining :D

  • Man, I really wanna listen to Goto80 right now for some reason. Must be the C64-ish graphics.

  • Why do you have different music from the version I played?

  • So was that like the devil that he killed in the end?

  • Don't look back, Iji's cracking you!

  • Don't look back with your gun when a guy has a rifle sniping you.

  • Wow, that really was epic.

  • The hopping guys right after the first boss remind me of the Indians from Mondo Medicals. Perhaps Eurydice had cancer and was cured by a screaming guy?

  • And then I realized my mistake; the Indians weren't in Mondo Medicals, but were in Mondo Agency.

  • Silly, the only way to cure a cancer is to shoot it.

  • What did you do to the music?

  • What didn't I do to it?

  • You didn't leave it alone.

  • what is the track you used for this game?

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the background music (atlest, what we could hear) is taken from the game boy game Shantae. Which is awesome, and atleast makes the video awesome (Don't Look Back was cool to)

  • Uhhh. I can hear the resemblance, but no.

  • That is not the game's real music. Quit playing with your viewers' minds DC.

  • Never!

  • I liked the real music more.

  • I both know the myth and had a part in our school play based on the myth. It was very fun :P

  • Where did you get this game? It looks like fun, you pick some of the funniest games. La-Mulana, Iji, Yo Noid, now this.

  • Strange.... the version I played had different music! It was orchestral and less chip tuney!

  • Oh i've tried this game, quite interesting as you mentioned

  • what site do I go to for the version with this soundtrack? The ones I found have a classical music soundtrack.

  • I surprisingly miss Mappy.

    COME BACK MAPPY!

  • It was really hard not to just fill this comment with "DOOP! BA-DOOP!" nonsense and nothing else. This game knows how to bring the funk.

  • That lava looks like pepto bismol

  • I like the original music better.

  • I like the original music better, it fits with the game better

  • I don't understand.

  • this looks like fun!

  • I played this on addicting games

  • I see the problem... In the end, Orpheus looked at his own back, so he disappeared! Although if they both faced each other, they would probably cause a time paradox. Orpheus loses either way!

  • Not only has this been entertaining and educational, the music was amazing!

  • Being a student of Greek Mythology, it's Persephone who allows Orpheus to take Eurydice out of Hades.

  • Thank god I actually played the game.

    You know what I mean.

  • The title leads me to believe that if you dont ever turn around in the game you get a differnt ending but I dont think its possible on the second boss.

  • Oh, now that is games as art.

  • Aww, that's sad if you think about it... =/

  • At 1:38 you can kill the worms

  • HURRAY! I cant wait for the next LP :D

  • I don't know why, but this game was actually fun. I wonder what next you'll LP, since there's so many good unknown games.

  • Interesting game.

  • hey play Super Robotnik Land :P

  • hahaha this is a fun flash? game

  • When I played this, I thought the music changed. There's also the mention that the music gets more epic, but it seems to remain the same throughout..?

  • oh... sarcasm, right. it is DC after all. great playthru mate, lovely game

  • Rockin' music.

  • Ok, that is NOT the music. I'm guessing this is some kind of spoof of YouTube's audio policy? :)

  • Try not to read too deeply into it, all will be explained.
