hehe i lived for 5 years in Budapest :D I remain a lot of things like they don't like french people because of Trianon ( rolala les nationalistes alors ... ) and YES the ... slow ( I prefer :D ) accent :D ! But I spent a good time in this city ... I was living in the Gellert Hegy ( like this ? ) and I miss it a little now
yes... That kind of strong Hungarian accent it also part of the turist attracions in Hungary. The so called 'Magyarangol" is a whole other language, and it's coming from the old era's education system where the students are never ever heard native English speaking (only from tape in the classroom) and all the teachers had the same terrible accent. Now it's too late to fix it, if somebody has an accent like this

Ok but if I'd have a Hungarian accent like that (it sounds as if he'd read something in English, but with complete Hungarian pronounciation) I won't dare to be a tour guide. I certainly now that even in Budapest there are a LOT of people who do speak English very well. (And he has that typical arrogant-sounding Budapestian dialect, just unbelievable)
