Was skeptical until I saw the new trailer. Great job! I have seen this movie at least 10 times and have memorized most of the quotables. Please tell me I'm not a freak. On the other hand, I have seen "Animal House" at least as often. Now, I know that is freaky, but I have matured.
I have watched probably all the movies that involve arthur and excalibur. Excalibur was and always will be awesome, but "king arthur", Mists of avalon, merlin, and the last legion will always be close to excalubur imo...
One of my favorite films of all time. Very nicely done. If only Europe had men like this who embodied the living spirit and culture of Europe. Long live Europa.
wow awesome trailer ...... epic movie my favo of all times , i hope there wil be never an remake .... this movie is a masterpiece on its own , epic story , visual breath taking ,no cgi and crap like that ... and solid acting from of the finest actors , some of them became world famous in later years ..... thanks John Boorman
@danVeyron I don't know about the score in this particular trailer, but the movie's score includes much of Richard Wagner's creations, including songs from his operas "Der Ring des Nibelungen", "Parsifal", and "Tristan und Isolde". Otherwise, the classical song "O Fortuna" by Carl Orff is important in the movie's score.
This is simply the best King Arthur movie ever made. King Arthur with Clive Owen and First Knight with Sean Connery don't even come close. I mean, come on! Gabriel Byrne having sex in Full Plate? Anyone who can pull that off without serious injury is fucking wicked!

That movie is one of the worst i've ever seen, i was totally Rofling about the editing
and the story was totally random. And for ppl who isn't so familiar to the King Arthur legend is pretty off. The Sea lady just made me like "WTF WAS THAT ALL ABOUT" lol i must say 3,5/10 Too many mistakes the thing that gave it 3,5 is that the movie were made 1981 so... LOLSIFOGA = No sense
@roaminggator which is so damn cliché btw. i came to check this vid to listen to the actual theme of the movie, which is all i can remember from when i saw it as a kid
does anyone know the music used in this trailer or at least the artist so I can look it up. As for the movie I saw it when it first came out and was inspired by it. It is the best example of a king arthur movie I have seen that stays with the legend.
This man got it right. Spot on. How to be clever without being corny? To be fantastical without Disney? How to be a sage, without being authoritarian? To be damn bloody and epic without fooling the viewer? The answer is Boorman. Masterpiece. The King would be proud.
This is one of the all time great movies! Boorman created a cinematic masterpiece.
All the movies about Arthur as well all the fantasy movies, in general, pale by comparison to this wonderful movie. It is worth watching over and over as like a fine wine it reveals more of its' wisdom with eact sip.
"I did not know how empty was my soul, until it was filled." Arthur as he drinks from the Grail.
Even though it's not entirely faithful to the events of Le Morte D'Arthur, it's the only movie that ever really understood Mallory. That make it brilliant.
I honestly can't believe some people think this movie is bad. It's a masterpiece. I almost want to think those criticizing this film are just adolescents who prefer watching some action-packed modern blockbuster, or that they just have very poor taste, but I guess that would just be pissy of me. I should accept that some people simply don't share my opinion, however ridiculous their's seems to be for me ;)

The cast, setting, and acting is unsurpassed. None of the King Arthur movies before or since has even come close. You may see some spectacular special effects in a remake but nothing will seem as real as Boormans masterpiece.

Wonderful - and a movie I have loved for many years. This was where I "discovered" Carmina Burana O Fortuna, way back then! I still love all things medieval. Certainly too slow of a movie for modern audiences' addled attention these days, but what a great movie this remains! The Lady of the Lake!!
This is the quality american movies will never amount to. No clichés, no fucked up gags at every minute, no cgi...just pure perfection as far as directing, acting and music is concerned. One cannot even believe, that it was made in 1981. Great trailer!
Fantastic movie. A great from my childhood. Shame this trailer doesn't feature the great original soundtrack - taken from Gotterdammerung. This piece - also very inspiring - features in a sequence in Plunkett & MacLean...
I remember watching this movie as a kid. This movie is fricking epic. Everything a person interested in knights and such could wish for. Downloading it now. Just hoping the movie is as good as I remember it =P
Boorman hit the mark, cos he didn`t go for the single-minded nationalist thing - which stifles all hit the mark, cos he didn`t go for the single-minded nationalist thing - which stifles all love and the mark, cos he didn`t go for the single-minded nationalist thing - which stifles all love and affection from other parties. Rather, simple brilliance.
This movie was great! This trailer doesn't give the movie justice. If you want to see the whole movie for free in high quality. Just google yslides and the site should come up first result. Yslides is where I watched it and didn't have any problems. I would just put the website address but I don't want youtube to mark my account as spam. LOL
Excellent Trailer - Redux! IMHO, this is the best King Arthur movie ever made, the rest pale in comparison, and Boorman did it without all the computer technology available today. Brilliant movie - excellent work on the trailer!
@Zander73 I'm sorry, I didn't mean to start a flame war! :) It's just that this film is one of the absolute favorites of mine. And I think Boorman made one he**uva job! All the other ones: King Arthur (especially that one), First Knight and several others have been almost totally awful. Hollywood crap of the first degree. To me, the atmosphere of this film is impeccable. Thanks for the reply. Peace brother.
@Zander73 Sorry, but you're wrong. I you knew a little more of the Arthur mythology and legends, you'd know that this film is the most accurate adaptation and the one having by far the most atmospheric feel of all King Arthur movies ever made.
@ForgetaboutFreeman If u dread reading comments then why do u still read them? u can't piss urself because someone notices something wrong. I'm not saying the film is bad but there is indeed too much plate-armor. XV-XVI Century plate-armor on Arthur's time is like saying Today's Cevlar vests on Renaissance Knights.
This film is pure magic. Look at the green light in the scenes with the lady in the lake for instance! A very smart move by Boorman, it makes the whole atmosphere of this grand and beautiful film stand out and grip you, like Lancelots mailed glove!
@HughCarpenter Don't get me wrong mate, i'm not saying its a bad film, i haven't seen it yet & i would like to see it cos i like King Arthur's knights legends but all i said was too much plate armor. Still it doesn't mean that i wouldn't wanna watch it or like it & judging by many comments on the film it must be great ..
@Suppressingfire If you enjoy watching movies about the legend of King Arthur you will not be disappointed. Boorman does an excellent job creating the mystical quality of it without the modern computer technology available today. The entire cast of this film delivered memorable performances. Mate, you must watch it soon!
One of my ALL-TIME favorite films!! Snuck in when I was 14, always wondered why it wasn't more well known.
Like some others here, I watch it over and over. Along with 3 more of my all-time favs that just happened to also came out in 1981: Michael Mann's "Thief", Lucas & Spielberg's "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and the animated extravaganza "Heavy Metal" -- Whatta year to remember!!
@JVRottweil Well it was done intentionally. The Armourer Boorman hired (who does period pieces) was instructed to make it a-historical for a heightened mythical sense. At least that's Boorman's explanation.
Monty Python's rendition of Arthur is just classic! :)

@atheldeneict Well.. look at it this way: Camelot (hence Arthur) was separate and apart from the surrounding countryside - Arthurian Camelot was a shining beacon to everything around it. In that sense, wouldn't the premise of Arthur being a Roman officer make sense, if this legend was derived from any kind of reality? People from a dark age perspective may easily have perceived this, and legends grow from there...

Imperator88vis 1 year ago
The music of the trailer doesn't fit. The movie's score's adaptation of Wagner's music is much more fitting- more romantic.

lo vidi tanti anni fa ma mi vengono ancora i brividi......senz'altro la rappresentazione più vera delle vicende di Artù!

This is the quality american movies will never amount to. No clichés, no fucked up gags at every minute, no cgi...just pure perfection as far as directing, acting and music is concerned. One cannot even believe, that it was made in 1981. Great trailer!

Boorman was spot on.

LOL

It's my favorite movie. I watch it one time by month. When we made the films without computer pictures ...

Peace brother.
dracopticon 1 year ago
@Zander73 Sorry, but you're wrong. I you knew a little more of the Arthur mythology and legends, you'd know that this film is the most accurate adaptation and the one having by far the most atmospheric feel of all King Arthur movies ever made.

I love this darn movie, hope I can find it on Bluray. Btw A very nice trailer redux

Guys, can you help me out here?
A few days ago, this trailer was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno as a filler segment in his monologue.
He played the trailer twice, with two songs.
What was the name of the song he played first?

This film is pure magic. Look at the green light in the scenes with the lady in the lake for instance! A very smart move by Boorman, it makes the whole atmosphere of this grand and beautiful film stand out and grip you, like Lancelots mailed glove!

i think there way too much plate-armor

@Suppressingfire,
You're entitled to your opinion, but despite this objection, what else do you dislike?
HughCarpenter 1 year ago
@HughCarpenter Don't get me wrong mate, i'm not saying its a bad film, i haven't seen it yet & i would like to see it cos i like King Arthur's knights legends but all i said was too much plate armor. Still it doesn't mean that i wouldn't wanna watch it or like it & judging by many comments on the film it must be great ..
Suppressingfire 1 year ago

Man, I wish Boorman had the chance to make Lord of the Rings back then. That would have been epic.

Good movie. The Armour was all horribly wrong or inaccurate for the story but still a cool movie.
JVRottweil 1 year ago
@JVRottweil Well it was done intentionally. The Armourer Boorman hired (who does period pieces) was instructed to make it a-historical for a heightened mythical sense. At least that's Boorman's explanation.
