  • Monty Python's rendition of Arthur is just classic! :)

  • FOR FUCK SAKE I CANT FIND THIS SONG ANYWHERE !!! why didnt you add the name of the song ?? who knows the name ? please tell me !!!

  • @ExecutionerTom "Escape" by Craig Armstrong.

  • @ShinriVeritas :O Thank you so much !! really appreciate it !

  • This was and still is the best king arthur movie ever. I was twelve when this first came out. Seeing it at the theatre was the best!! Billyboy

  • Was skeptical until I saw the new trailer. Great job! I have seen this movie at least 10 times and have memorized most of the quotables. Please tell me I'm not a freak. On the other hand, I have seen "Animal House" at least as often. Now, I know that is freaky, but I have matured.

  • Is this on Blue ray yet?

  • Why did you not use Richard Wagner's Score is beyond me. Do it again.

  • I just hope that the new Excaliburr flick is nearly as good as this one. Sadly, I dont think iot will be...

  • dum dums it sword of kings not power...

  • I have watched probably all the movies that involve arthur and excalibur. Excalibur was and always will be awesome, but "king arthur", Mists of avalon, merlin, and the last legion will always be close to excalubur imo...

  • One of my favorite films of all time. Very nicely done. If only Europe had men like this who embodied the living spirit and culture of Europe. Long live Europa.

  • Always in love with this movie. No special effects will be able 2 make a masterpiece like this ever again!

  • One of the most memorable movie I ever saw (many times).

  • LOVE IT! =)

  • Well Done. Fantastic.

  • I was not overly thrilled at this interpretation of the arthurian legend, but it is the only one that is worth a damn imho.

  • The reason because this movie was so good is because it was pretty much based off of Sir Mallory's book, La Morte De Arthur.

  • wow awesome trailer ...... epic movie my favo of all times , i hope there wil be never an remake .... this movie is a masterpiece on its own , epic story , visual breath taking ,no cgi and crap like that ... and solid acting from of the finest actors , some of them became world famous in later years ..... thanks John Boorman

  • What's the title of this film score? Wonderful. Please wrtite it to me. thnks

  • @danVeyron I don't know about the score in this particular trailer, but the movie's score includes much of Richard Wagner's creations, including songs from his operas "Der Ring des Nibelungen", "Parsifal", and "Tristan und Isolde". Otherwise, the classical song "O Fortuna" by Carl Orff is important in the movie's score.

  • we saw this in class... ut was kinda funny they scream all the time even with no reason :p

  • Anyone know what song is played in this video?

  • I like the original trailer, BUT, I really liked your trailer. Well done!!!

  • i would like youtube to please bring back the whole excalibur movie back the way it was before .

  • Im sorry, but you cant out-do Richard Wagner's Gotterdamerung and the Carmina Burana.

  • BAKA

  • This Is a true masterpiece, this film cannot be re-made It will stand the test of time...

  • "We are the Knights who say, NEET!" j/k

This is an outstanding film and a Masterpiece/Work of Art.

  • FOOLS!!

  • xcalibur beat th sword of OMENS..... its in an episode from the old thundercats lol...

  • This is simply the best King Arthur movie ever made. King Arthur with Clive Owen and First Knight with Sean Connery don't even come close. I mean, come on! Gabriel Byrne having sex in Full Plate? Anyone who can pull that off without serious injury is fucking wicked!

  • so when does he go to california

  • anyone know the music used?

  • best adaption ever made tbh no one has ever done better or made on closer to the story

  • FOOL MY LEGEND IS VERY OLD IT DATES BACK TO THE 12 CENTARY I LIKE TO START MY DAY OFF WITH A CUP OF TEA

  • @death6998 (ﺧ益ﺨ)

  • The actor who played Lancelot.....has passed from this world

  • REAL DILDO HARVARD?

  • morgana is running wild in the world

  • FOOLS!! EEEXCALIBURRRR EXCALIBURRRR FROM THE UNITED KING IM LOOKING FOR HER IM GOING TO CALLIFORNIAAAA EXCALLLLLIBURR ..........EXCALLLIBUR FROM THE UNITED KING IM LOOKING FOR HER IM GOING TO CALLIFORNIAAAA EXCALIBURRRR. FOOLS!!

  • Nigel Terry(ib this vid) is my favorite King Arthur ever. This movie and King Arthur(2004) are the best Arthurian movies ever done to date.Just my own opinion. :)

  • Best Arthur movie ever! :D

  • Me and my dad watched this and today im gonna watch this with my son pass on the leagend.

  • CROM!

  • Nice work - also brings to the fore the great cinematography in the film.

  • Superb edit of a great movie, well done!

  • 22 people prefer light hearted romantic comedies starring Sandra Bullock or Hugh Grant or both.

  • this ia great movie i just need to know the name of the song when there going to battle the thirteen fourteen song what is the name

  • Great montage, really. Just epic.

  • People who know me all said I was strange because I talk to my dick, but at least I had the class to name it 'Excalibur' and always call it by name when looking at it

  • Fool! my legend goes back to the 12th centurey

  • VERY WELL DONE!! I totally LOVE this movie!!!!!!!!

  • meeting room for a lotr movie.

  • This movie is awesome. One of the best battle movies ever made. No cgi in this movie. the fight scenes are intense and when the weapons hit, they hit HARD and they're not the bendy elastic swords. I salute the stunt people in the movie. Some of the falls they do look like they would have broken a few bones. Some interesting tidbits about the movie: Liam Neeson is in it, so is Patrick Stewart who hasn't aged one bit. The throne room with the round table was supposed to be the elves/dwarf/human m

  • Apparently I used to love this movie as a kid, but I didn't remember. Seeing the trailer, I remember the sword and Merlin now. I must see this again!

  • very well done!! my favorite film

  • Wow...Im speechhless...

  • I hope Hollywood leaves this one alone and doesn't taint it with a remake.

  • Truth? What truth? Legend - solid legend - always better than dull truth.

  • This version of King Arthur may be the farthest telling from the truth, but it is the best adaptation to the screen I've ever seen. "Excalibur" in stores on Blu Ray this Tuesday March 8th 2011.

  • Fool!

  • Interesting how they kept shining a green emerald light upon the sword in the film.

  • Well done.Obviously.

  • they dont have plate mail armor on that time! lmfao

  • @joepalso

They didn't had any sorcery or magical swords either!

    Duh!

  • @RuinerXP what a jackhole review.

  • Carmina burana is better!

  • The Music is "Escape" by Craig Armstrong

  • @roaminggator which is so damn cliché btw. i came to check this vid to listen to the actual theme of the movie, which is all i can remember from when i saw it as a kid

  • does anyone know the music used in this trailer or at least the artist so I can look it up. As for the movie I saw it when it first came out and was inspired by it. It is the best example of a king arthur movie I have seen that stays with the legend.

  • This man got it right. Spot on. How to be clever without being corny? To be fantastical without Disney? How to be a sage, without being authoritarian? To be damn bloody and epic without fooling the viewer? The answer is Boorman. Masterpiece. The King would be proud.

  • This is one of the all time great movies! Boorman created a cinematic masterpiece.

All the movies about Arthur as well all the fantasy movies, in general, pale by comparison to this wonderful movie. It is worth watching over and over as like a fine wine it reveals more of its' wisdom with eact sip.

"I did not know how empty was my soul, until it was filled." Arthur as he drinks from the Grail.

  • 20 people fell to the might of excalibur

  • i haven't seen it but it does appear to have more accuracy to the legends than most films such as the popular tv show Merlin and other stuff.

  • Even though it's not entirely faithful to the events of Le Morte D'Arthur, it's the only movie that ever really understood Mallory. That make it brilliant.

  • Une grande épopée, de vrai acteurs, une légende mystifiés; un grand film.

  • Best movie about King Arthur ever made. This trailer does it justice; good job!

  • Soundtrack added so much to the movie. Richard Wagner-Siegfried's Funeral March and Carl Orff - Carmina Burana

  • Look into the eyes of the dragon and despair! I curse you! And consign you to oblivion!

  • ' Are you a dream Merlin?' 'To some a dream, to others a nightmare'

  • Maybe the best movie about King Arthur

  • Well , Ones things for sure , This movie has the best merlin i have ever seen .

  • This is absolutely one of the best films EVER.

  • I honestly can't believe some people think this movie is bad. It's a masterpiece. I almost want to think those criticizing this film are just adolescents who prefer watching some action-packed modern blockbuster, or that they just have very poor taste, but I guess that would just be pissy of me. I should accept that some people simply don't share my opinion, however ridiculous their's seems to be for me ;)

Great job on the trailer. True that the old one doesn't do justice to this work of art.

  • @Wotanraven Couldn't agree more, brilliant movie. I knew the guy who played Mordrid, Robert Addie. Who sadly passed away a few years ago from cancer.

  • @palendromebob Reakky. That's sad. He wasa great Mordred. Wasnt he in the Television series Robin Hood in the 1980's?

  • Top marks!

  • Please digital remaster this film!

    It's a classic

  • @Blunder1248 It's coming to Blu-Ray early next year. 3/8/11

  • i think that the greatest traits of a knight are humility compassion loyalty and courage :)....

  • this movie was so bad it tunrned into a comdey

  • Needs Carl Orff

  • best king arthur movie ever made to date. this year is "2010" nothing can compare to this movie.

  • This "redeux" trailer was so masterfully done I can hardly believe it. I just popped in my Excalibur dvd and watched the original trailer and I had to turn it off before it was done. Yours is perfect! The mixing, the timing, everything... perfect!

  • I'd like to watch it, I have a feeling I saw it when I was little. Another "king arthur" movie that I like is "Merlin" made by Hallmark and I think it was made just for tv. It was great.

  • The cast, setting, and acting is unsurpassed. None of the King Arthur movies before or since has even come close. You may see some spectacular special effects in a remake but nothing will seem as real as Boormans masterpiece.

  • Very well done trailer. Remake is on the way, hard to imagine how it can improve.

  • @cosmicdingo Wtf apparently there might be 2 remakes--one by Guy Ritchie and the other by Bryan Singer. Why does Hollywood have to make remakes of everything?! More often then not they ruin the originals >.<

  • Super Video!!You can download a full movie vshmone.com

  • what is the music that is playing?

  • i love this movie. my friends wont even give it a chance but its amazing

  • I do like the shiny armory

And the suposedly the kick ass sword

But the quality sucks ass since its an old movie. So nope, woulnt be watching

  • @ElchinMendes No wonder. Your taste in movies is atrocious. Transformers? really? The original 1986 movie destroys the Michael Bay shit ones.

  • @themartyr451

Erm...when the hell did I say anything about Transformers you jackass? :)

  • @ElchinMendes It's in your favorite films section, jackass. :D

  • @themartyr451 Omg I cant belive you stalked my profile ><

  • I this on DVD the other day and the only thing that lets it down is it needs a Digital remaster!

Really good film and i hope Hollywood never remakes this!

  • This trailer captures a great sentiment .................. the movie is superb! Yes, even though all may and will not agree, the metaphors are undeniable!

  • Best movie ever.......................for me

  • Keeping in mind that Arthur's Camelot was legend, I just have to say that was one RICH and technologically advanced dark ages kingdom - where even common footsoldiers wore full plate mail armor! :)

  • @Imperator88vis - very true, but I don't think this is meant to be a historically accurate movie. Boorman says that it's meant to be 'Mythologically accurate', closer to the Mallory text which is wildly fantastical. And anyway, armour is awesome. For a look at a failed attempt at Historical accuracy, see the laughable 'King Arthur'

  • Wonderful - and a movie I have loved for many years. This was where I "discovered" Carmina Burana O Fortuna, way back then! I still love all things medieval. Certainly too slow of a movie for modern audiences' addled attention these days, but what a great movie this remains! The Lady of the Lake!!

  • The music of the trailer doesn't fit. The movie's score's adaptation of Wagner's music is much more fitting- more romantic.

  • lo vidi tanti anni fa ma mi vengono ancora i brividi......senz'altro la rappresentazione più vera delle vicende di Artù!

  • the lady of the lake is the best of all

  • This is the quality american movies will never amount to. No clichés, no fucked up gags at every minute, no cgi...just pure perfection as far as directing, acting and music is concerned. One cannot even believe, that it was made in 1981. Great trailer!

  • Boorman was spot on.

  • what useless crap in the info.

you should put what music you used.

  • If you like this movie check out THE PAGAN QUEEN a new movie about pagan priestesses and rituals, a bit like Excalibur. Released in the US June 29

  • I remember watching this movie as a kid. This movie is fricking epic. Everything a person interested in knights and such could wish for. Downloading it now. Just hoping the movie is as good as I remember it =P

  • Boorman hit the mark, cos he didn`t go for the single-minded nationalist thing - which stifles all hit the mark, cos he didn`t go for the single-minded nationalist thing - which stifles all love and the mark, cos he didn`t go for the single-minded nationalist thing - which stifles all love and affection from other parties. Rather, simple brilliance.

  • This movie was great! This trailer doesn't give the movie justice. If you want to see the whole movie for free in high quality. Just google yslides and the site should come up first result. Yslides is where I watched it and didn't have any problems. I would just put the website address but I don't want youtube to mark my account as spam. LOL

  • It's my favorite movie. I watch it one time by month. When we made the films without computer pictures ...

  • I liked the film marilyn better , this sucks.

  • Excellent Trailer - Redux! IMHO, this is the best King Arthur movie ever made, the rest pale in comparison, and Boorman did it without all the computer technology available today. Brilliant movie - excellent work on the trailer!

  • @Zander73 I'm sorry, I didn't mean to start a flame war! :) It's just that this film is one of the absolute favorites of mine. And I think Boorman made one he**uva job! All the other ones: King Arthur (especially that one), First Knight and several others have been almost totally awful. Hollywood crap of the first degree. To me, the atmosphere of this film is impeccable. Thanks for the reply. Peace brother.

  • @Zander73 Sorry, but you're wrong. I you knew a little more of the Arthur mythology and legends, you'd know that this film is the most accurate adaptation and the one having by far the most atmospheric feel of all King Arthur movies ever made.

  • I love this darn movie, hope I can find it on Bluray. Btw A very nice trailer redux

  • What is the name of the music being played ? its really good ? does anyone know the artist and title ?

  • sweet

  • @ForgetaboutFreeman If u dread reading comments then why do u still read them? u can't piss urself because someone notices something wrong. I'm not saying the film is bad but there is indeed too much plate-armor. XV-XVI Century plate-armor on Arthur's time is like saying Today's Cevlar vests on Renaissance Knights.

  • Guys, can you help me out here?

A few days ago, this trailer was on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno as a filler segment in his monologue.

He played the trailer twice, with two songs.

What was the name of the song he played first?

  • @dstebbin o fortunna

  • where is Wagner?!

  • Epic!!

  • This film is pure magic. Look at the green light in the scenes with the lady in the lake for instance! A very smart move by Boorman, it makes the whole atmosphere of this grand and beautiful film stand out and grip you, like Lancelots mailed glove!

  • i think there way too much plate-armor

  • @Suppressingfire,

You're entitled to your opinion, but despite this objection, what else do you dislike?

  • @HughCarpenter Don't get me wrong mate, i'm not saying its a bad film, i haven't seen it yet & i would like to see it cos i like King Arthur's knights legends but all i said was too much plate armor. Still it doesn't mean that i wouldn't wanna watch it or like it & judging by many comments on the film it must be great ..

  • @Suppressingfire If you enjoy watching movies about the legend of King Arthur you will not be disappointed. Boorman does an excellent job creating the mystical quality of it without the modern computer technology available today. The entire cast of this film delivered memorable performances. Mate, you must watch it soon!

  • maybe the best of Arthur's legend movie

  • @boreiosanemos I protest the "Maybe"! ;-)

  • @boreiosanemos take off the maybe word from your sentense!

  • @boreiosanemos it would be awsome if excalibur from soul eater was in this movie

  • @boreiosanemos HELL YEA.

  • @boreiosanemos By far.

  • One of my ALL-TIME favorite films!! Snuck in when I was 14, always wondered why it wasn't more well known.

Like some others here, I watch it over and over. Along with 3 more of my all-time favs that just happened to also came out in 1981: Michael Mann's "Thief", Lucas & Spielberg's "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and the animated extravaganza "Heavy Metal" -- Whatta year to remember!!

  • magnifico film. Grazie

  • This is one of my favourite movies. Nicol Williamson was the best Merlin ever!

  • Man, I wish Boorman had the chance to make Lord of the Rings back then. That would have been epic.

  • Good movie. The Armour was all horribly wrong or inaccurate for the story but still a cool movie.

  • @JVRottweil Well it was done intentionally. The Armourer Boorman hired (who does period pieces) was instructed to make it a-historical for a heightened mythical sense. At least that's Boorman's explanation.

  • "Look into the eyes of the dragon"

  • Imperium Europa:

The Book that changed the world.

    Amazon Books

  • Awesome Awesome Awesome Movie.

  • I think excalibur is the best movie of medieval collection

  • It's just so beautiful. I watch it a lot. I'm obsessive I guess but it's just so pretty. Thanks

  • anyone know where this could be watched online somewhere?
