  • wrong turn XD

  • are thse bullet holes in the window?

  • After that tow job , she's DONE

  • I can remember when they were new ! ;)

  • Find me on fb, im Daniel Restodan

  • Not a Y-block 292 , look at the valve covers, no studs poking through them with nuts on top to hold them on. It's a FE series big block V8 .... ( 352 ci - 390 ci - 430 ci )... T-bird had a couple of odd variations of this series. Check the door tag, 5th didget in ID number.

  • If the Valve cover gaskets come off in one peice? Steam them till they re-swell and become soft and you can re-use them they are cork and don't go bad other than getting dry.

Make sure to have the brake drums turned (machined) and while your in there (the wheels)

Grease and re-pack the bearings and put new rubberr seals in the brake cylinders they are cheap, and if you do it before you mess with filling the brake fluid and pushing the peddal? it wil save you a ton of work and parts.

  • These oil ports, look like a mini itty bity tracter Exaughst with a flip cap, cean them oil them maybe even graphite cause they will be VERY dry, from sitting. in the long run? These simple old fashioned mechanics tricks will save you hundreds of dollars in bringing her back to life.

  • Now! as too the water pump? when it's been cleaned out?

put a bottle of medical gycerine in to the coolant to bring back the seals.

in the coolant pump? the seals are rubber.

Don't turn it over with the old fule pump on it, hooked up till it's all cleand and the lines flushed. Gaskets? for the carb? Use creal box and the shiny side off of it.

And use a bit of Powerstearing fluid to drip in to the tube on each front and rear bearing, on every unit turned with a belt, gennerator ect.

  • Use an electric fuel pump, youdon't want the old one too leak fuel and thin the oil, ruin your bearings and such. Oh! and before putting the Spark plugs in? But after the brake cleaner? Putt powdered graphite in the cylinders and crank her a few spins. After the oil change, With fresh oil filter.

  • Before you Try to start it?

Pull al the spark plugs pour

    Brake fluid in the cylinders,

take off the valve covers, and spray, or baist the valves with kerosene,

it will brake up the old oil, let it sit like that for about a week,

then spray the cylinders and valves with brake Cleaner,

After that? Drop the oil, and refill her with W-40 for the run in,

Don't wory about the seals they are all cork and rope. the brake fluid won't make them swell.

Flush the coolant, take out the Thermistat,

  • Air conditioned Ford with Y-Block 292ci V8.

Worth keeping, Watch the car though, the old holly Tea-pot is a fire bomb.

the fuel's float bowl is mounted abouve the carburator body, if the float isn't set

perfectly? it over flows an dcatches fire. so Re-build it ant test the foat, BEFORE

    you run it.

  • i noticed the hitch on the car. Whats that about? is it factory?

  • what cubes are the engine? my guess 292 or 352 or possible 390

  • Gosh dan...the 4 corners look to be all straight sir.What a find.Must be an old 312???

  • my dad has a 1953 GMC truck completely restored its awesome

  • Dan , i always smile watching you at your best . seeing the Dinasaur with a car behind her means your happy ! , excellent video . Ray in Pa

  • Nice Thunderchicken

  • Personally, I wouldn't take it if you paid me the 1500, but I truly admire your willingness to even try something like this. Awesome dude.

  • @950horsepower no disrespect intended for this guy for having the energy to want to restore it but I would not want it either. Maybe if I was in my 20s or even 30s......but I never understood why all these people want to drag some terminally ill car out of a to restore it. Now if he said he was going to sell off the parts I could understand

  • @inkey2 I understand it. We are talking romance here. Some people like Ford. I don't know why, they just do. If that's the car you first fell in love with, it's always going to be special to you. I guess. There's no question that this T-bird had something going for in it's day. I remember when it came out. I remember test driving it. Whatever that something was, it was lost in the woods somewhere, long ago.

  • its a Matter! lol....

  • the things done its will cost you so much to restore that

  • 0:40. Good suspension? lol. Cool vid btw

  • Like your old Dinosaur!

  • Wow your truck is really cool. I am amazed with how cars in some parts of the US just gets this layer thin rust all over. Here in Denmark where we got much moisture and salt on the road, rust just turns into holes here and eats away the car boddy.

  • nice truck! im 14 and come from the uk and the only thing that comes close to good old tow trucks like that are land rovers! me and a mate would like to get a land rover tow truck when we're older to haul dead cars with. i got a 1958 land rover series 1 :)

  • that a pretty good truck you got there. just one question is it all original?

  • Red corvette at 0:46

There it is again at 3:30 Lol

  • Thank god for rednecks.

  • Comment removed

  • amma ford guy but i love seeing a old chevy and ford back on the road

  • My Dad had one of these he bought new and I restored it after sitting for 20 years in the heated garage. I used to play in it when I was a kid. I drove a million miles in it sitting there. Anyhow.....parts are hard to find and VERY expensive. My car doesn't have air, but has the 352/300HP. Best of all, it's Raven Black over Tuxedo interior (black with white inserts).

  • It's strange that people park perfectly good cars at the time and never drive them again.

  • Your videos are amazing Dan... I am subscribed

  • Count me in as a subscriber man..all the good stuff!!..no nonsense!!

  • I would love to find an old find like that, But not too many of those laying around over here in Australia. LOVE the Tow truck.

  • I Love this old truck dan! but are you sure its a 49? unless it has diffrent doors and cab i has to be a 52 or newer. they didnt start using the push button door handles untill 1952 thats when they changed the horizontal lines on the dash below where the radio would go to regular sheet metal, they used to be stainless steel, and the dash in your truck would appear to be sheet metal.

  • I got a 1946 Chevy 2 ton Im fixing up. putting in new floorboards at the moment.

  • I hope you had good luck with it. But I can just imagine the SMELL when you first opened that door!

  • @ihatestupidsignups musty I'm sure. No doubt the new car smell is gone. lol

  • nice... where's the wrecker boom and winch?

  • what year is this old truck!!

  • @juankeny88

says in the description, 1949 Chevy tow truck

  • @juankeny88 , ok . sorry.

  • that is the coolest car that you are driving

  • nice vid man! you are italo americano? =)

  • hey man your truck is great! congratulations

  • Great car. Nice find. Congrats.

  • damn i wsh i could afford an old t bird like that -_- i love those 60s back ends

  • @restodan

What do the neighbor's say when they see you with the cool old cars,

and can you tell me what a 'barn find' means, please?

  • wow a 1960 ford thunderbird thats really neat. my dad has a white one in showroom condition. they can be kool as any other classic still around.

  • love that truck! Great upload - thanks

  • i like the chevy two ton

  • At least the windsheild is okay, the side glass on those is flat isn't it?

    Nice save.

  • Does it have a synchromesh gearbox or do you have to double-clutch it?

  • @kazimann its synchromesh. Thanks for subscribing.

  • @kazimann ..The truck has push button door handles which puts it at least a 1951..the transmission is an SM 465 four speed..almost extinct...two, piece windshield...it could have the 235 6 cylinder engine or possibly the 261..which most Chevrolet know it alls ..never heard of....good trucks for the day, but had very poor brakes and suspension...in the those years...Studebaker was way ahead of all of them..they had "S" cam air brakes....RR

  • Looks like tow truck from the movie, "wront turn". come to think of it he looks like one of them too, LOL , Just kiddin,

  • first of all thats cool as fuck they had power windows then but i still like cranks better and what nigger shot at the buti with a bbgun

  • haha You remind me of "Swamp Man" Shelby from the TV show "Axe Men"

    :-)

  • since 1973? it doesnt even look that bad really

  • junk towing junk lol, but i would love to have them both to restore none the less, nice find

  • iam subscribing to this channel,.

this is a cool vid,. 5outa5

  • I absolutely LOVE the tow truck!!! I have several antique trucks and I have one that is just a bit older than yours (your truck is a 1950s model?). I have a 1946 Chevy 1.5 ton grain truck (no bed) that is in several youtube videos. Take a look at "The Only Way That He Knew How" on youtube - BigTex347 is the author of the video. I really like your video - I had to watch it a few times.

  • what kind of boot are those you got on?

  • LoL bullet holes in the drivers side window? xD

  • oh i remember you? your the one with the 63 impala am i right?wow your the man..to restore this kind of car...good luck :)

  • oh i remember you? your the one with the 63 impala am i right?

  • Tell me you really didnt drag that old classic along without a trailer or wheels?

  • love that shift noise

  • Rust Hauling Rust...Dont you just love it...

  • Rust Hauling Rust.Dont you just love it?

  • Rust towing Rust .....Dont you just love it .

  • I love that 49

  • These trucks were REALLY made to last… just listen to the hum of that engine.

  • @doranduh OOH LIKE A ROCK!!

  • maters older brother

  • You know, you should keep that car, the 1960 Thunderbird was a legend in its time.

  • THAT rolled home? did it drag and spark?

  • can i ride with you Dan? lol

  • love that t-bird. i wanna find an old 48 ford super deluxe and fix it up

  • Nice find,a mile from my house is an auto glass shop and behind is a field of of old cars from model a's to trucks and boats to cars, including a white/blue 65 390/auto with holley efi and the keys were in it. Decent battey, hoses, wires, belts, but no gas tank. Went back late to buy the tbird and the lot had been leveled :/

  • Anybody explain what looks like bullet holes in the L/H side glass?

  • @Mechknight73 Their neighbors kid had a BB gun.

  • @restodan Those kids need their hides tanned. Little bastards have no respect for the classics

  • @restodan

Goddam BB gun kid! Stupid fool!

  • @restodan dude he get in trouble for shooting at the window?

  • What interest me is the space adapter between the brake booster and the fire wall I'd never seen this type before yet looks original

  • @silverbird58 From what I know about T-Birds, there's all manner of "upgrades" that could be added. Just like the Mustang, the number of possible combinations with every option thrown into the mix numbered in the thousands

  • LOL. a dinosaur pulling a dinosaur. i absoloutly love the car.

  • that is a great find...

  • the 1960 t-bird had 350 horsepower V8 engine, now thats greate, but hoe many horses do you think has run away since 1973?

  • You're just grinnin' from ear to ear! hahahaha. That's an awesome T bird..

  • OMG OMG how much for the t bird man i love that body style baby birds kick ass

  • @JAMESS30288 I will take $1500 for it now, but the more I do to it, the more I will want for it, but for now, $1500.

  • @restodan how much did you get it for

  • @JAMESS30288 i know a place where they sell em cheap! they have like 20 in richardson texas

  • Did you sell it at the swap meet?

  • @ahamburger111 I had to work instead so I didn't even take to the swap meet. I got the motor all freeed up and tonight I hope to get the starter working and next it will be make it spark and then poor gas down the carb and hopefully it will start. It should.

  • cant wait to see it run!

  • That old Chev is Awsome Dan can't wait to hear more about this t bird

  • I plan to to take this car to a swap meet this weekend and ask $1500 for it as is. The motor isn't stuck. If I don't sell it I will make it run and sell if for more.

  • can't wait to see the videos of you trying to get her running....Anything new on the 63 Impala?

  • nice... i used to do this with all the old lincolns

  • Great find!!! And that dinosaur runs really well!! I would love take a ride on it!!

  • nice car dan,

can't wait to see it when shes cleaned up.

  • What a great find. It brings back lots of memories mostly good for me. I had a white 59 thunderbird as a teenager. Mine had the factory HP engine and 140 mph on the speedometer. I blew the engine one night when the transmission turned loose at 140 mph plus. True story. I loved that old car. Good luck with this one.

  • Nice find. Why does the drivers side rear look like its sitting so low to the ground?

  • @mch51802 The dinosaur is hooked on to it a little off center and thats putting more weight on that side of the car, and it may also have a weak spring. It sat level before I picked it up and probably will when I set it down.

  • Another great find! Good luck with the BIRD:) . The ole Dinosaur seems to be holding it`s own.

  • do u know what u might wont for yet

  • Cool Find Danny

  • That is an AWESOME find. I think you'll have fun with it. My uncle has a '61, and they're really comfortable and fun to drive. Just kinda big.

  • *****elle est magnifique

  • Great to see the old truck back at work! Nice score on the Thunderbird too, my Great-Uncle has a '63 in about the same condition

  • Total score cannot wait to see a old start up vid

  • Hey Dan

Send it to me in Australia..I'll fix it up then you can buy it back!

You are so lucky to find cars like that.

    Cheers

    Rick

  • @trickster57 I would sell it to you but you would have to get it over there. It would be a good car to export because all the parts are there, its solid, straigh, yet looks bad for lower duties.

  • it does sound a lot better.

  • Hell yeah, let's hear that baby run!!

  • Thats awesome Dan!!! you'll have fun with that one. and... only 57 views and you've already got someone wanting to buy it!! haha.. cant beat that..

  • Great find! Can't wait to see it run!

Glad to hear the old tow truck is still hard at work being 61 years old!

  • can i buy the car off you i love thunder birds and i have been looking for on for a while

  • Did you fix the vac leaks on the Old truck? It sure sounds alot better than the movie some months ago

  • @ghtowagon No, I had to hurry up and get to this old car and the truck fired right up and took off and ran better and better as I drove it. The old truck is truly amazing!
