When I was in school at Sewanee, I had an M3, and I used to do that all the time. If you want to get really scared, drop down Sherwood going toward Stevenson, AL.
That is a sweet drive. I LOVE going hard into those curves, and going up is nice because of the 2 lanes. I have a BMW M3 and she LOVES to make that drive. Yes...wait at the bottom til no one goes up for 3 or 4 minutes. The Sherwood drive is also cool! That whole mountain on the Tracy City side has got some sweet road on it to!
i slide some curves if i go 60/50 most of the way.. but i don't think i've ever made it that fast.. you were lucky to not hit traffic for so much of the way.
I sat at the bottom of the mountain and waited until nobody passed me for nearly 2-3 minutes going up the mountain then I took off. I also did Sherwood mountain that day too but it's much longer and the vid is too long to post. That road is CRAZY.
5 five minute mountain is a pretty decent speed to make it up in.. damn... you had to be hitting at least 70-80 a good bit of the time... thats pretty intense. (i went to school up there for 7 years and live in winchester)
@laurens1316 Oh yeah man...When there are few cars on the road...and can stretch out across the two lanes on the way up...you can make it up in four(I had to get an application in from cowan to the university in ten minutes...most frantic moment of my life LOL)
Just watch out for the semis...never understood why semis run through there :P
not bad. but ive made a 2min. run up the mountain on my way to a fire call. In a dodge truck. But then again i do drive this mountain twice a day every day.
Koko Taylor's bus ran off the mountain on that road. She and her entourage were meant to play a show that night but due to very dense fog they went right through Sewanee past Shenanigans on 41 and started down the mountain and ran off the road.
Sherwood road FTW - did that in my 335i homecoming weekend 2010.

By the way that car has a WRX engine. Search for WRX powered 914 in Sport Compact Car magazine. That's it.

could've been faster, but I wasn't pushing it. School busses were running and I was careful.

Careful out there.
A friend of mine totaled his Eclipse going downhill on that same stretch of road.

We drove down that mountain Satuday night in the rain, we were visiting from Florida for the Sewanee experience weekend. I like flat land!

I'm live in Tampa but I grew up about 12 miles from Sewanee. As a kid I used to scream up and down that road on a motorcycle.
