I am a huge fan of Phyllis! She said she can't get a date? I can't believe it either, Linda. Anyway, she was such a tremendous talent, and a beautiful person inside and out.
She was a Cancer which means she was always thinking and feeling mis reated by the world..ask me how I know...I'm a Cancer too...if she only knew...we are just intimidating people...men just don't know how to approach us
Dano was leaning so close in I was wondering if she was "interested". Please get a copy of the book Jason A Michael's book, Phyllis Hyman: Strength of a Woman. This woman had an amazing life. But she had bi-polar disorder. It is not the same as depression. Just my opinion. Althouh depression has its own set of difficulties, there are distinct differences between the two that can be problematic for anyone who has it. But there are treatments for it. RIP PH.

Only weak men like quiet girls so they could feel superior. I know a lot of tall girls who have no problem getting a date, you just have to get out there. Too bad that she had to go to that.
hey don't single "black men" out like that. my co-worker who is white, says that white men are less attractive to plus-size women that black men, or mne of color in general. my woman is a plus-size gal. plus she was proud of being a plus size woman. she didn't say anything negative about it. phyllis had mental issues. that is something that the black community needs to stop taking lightly.
alot of sophisticated women are very choosy in who they date....one word messes everything up. Not saying a woman should just say yes....but when you first look at phyllis....she's over 6'0 ft tall (taller than me), she wears her outfits which resembles being a strong black queen (notice how I say queen in stead of woman....im classy) and one word....you mess up. Im nervous....i mean im funny at times but not immature...I can act immature though. She would make me feel not letting loose.
I can handle a polite classy woman. Phyllis to me is another level, because she is a cancer....Im a cancer myself.....I KNOW THAT BEING A CANCER MEANS EVERY SINGLE WORD HAS TO BE CORRECT AT ALL TIMES! I mean I have to be on my P's and q's all the time. Cancers have emotions and just one of them having disaster in a relationship it can end like a fingersnap. When im emotional...im funnier, when im sad, im funnier, when im hurt...you guessed it funnier.
You "ain't never lied" My dad was a cancer. Very tormented soul. You had to have your conversation together in order to talk to him. Facts, facts, facts. Not easily swayed, always seeking truth. Rest his soul, and Ms.Hyman's.
Two cancers coming together is too much emotions for me. I love phyllis. My top 5 favorite singers of all is maxwell, sade, phyllis hyman, elizabeth frazier and anita baker. (Love female singers). But to date phyllis....I dont know. Too much emotions for....because I got my own emotional issues lol.
Wow!!! What a beautiful woman with a voice like a sensual angel. I love to listen to her. Phyllis set the atmosphere for many of my wonderful evenings...enough said!!
I met her once at our home coming weekend at Purdue univ. she sat with me in the deejay table I wish I would have known that she was having a hard time getting a date . I was in college and much younger than her but it was nice to share a moment with her she talked my ear off and she was stunning.
I posted a commnent on one of my fav songs of her Dont want to change the world....I saw her at an auto signing outside a Bway stage door for Dream Girls...me being 6'3" I towered over the crowd and we caught each others eye and I was like wow...she giving me the eye...I was intimidated...but dag I had a shot at her???

Beyond beautiful, inside and out...wow. She deserved the love she wanted. I wish she was still here with us.
I can't get over how commanding her personality and presence is...she's just awesome.
To see this interview it is so hard to believe this DROP-DEAD GORGEOUS Queen and Diva of a Lady would have ANY problems in the love department!! I truly believe Lady Phyl had it going on and did not realize it. FROM THIS VIDEO SHE WAS STARVED FOR LOVE AND RELATIONSHIP. a WONDERFUL SINGER TOO BAD NO ONE COULD HELP HER WITH MENTAL ISSUES AND SHE RESORTED TO MEDICATON WHICH SHE USED TO OVERDOSE. MAY SHE REST IN PEACE
I saw her perform at Central State University in Xenia Ohio back in the early 80's...She turned it out!!! She's More beautiful in person than she is on TV...Sorry but I have to get these tears out...
The lady that was interviewing Phyllis is such a phony look at her laughing all fake Phyllis should have never wasted her time on broken down shows like this it just didn't compliment her or her talent she is and always will be a true gift from God may she rest in peace now and always!
Hey dude, Linda Dano is anything but phony. I love Phyllis as much as anyone, but you don't have to prove your loyalty to her by slagging off on another great female. If you knew anything about Linda Dano, you'd know that she is indeed sincere.
First of all I'm a female not a "Dude" and 2nd of all I can believe in who I want and who I don't want.
Linda Dano comes off like a phony person and that's just my opinion I'm not sure why Phyllis would have ever wasted her time doing a show like that one LOL it's not even close to being like "The View"
@Edster73 lol I know thats right people are so quick to judge the intervier but when someone judges phyllis they dont like it. Im glad you blocked those people
@ifusuckilltellu dont be so quick to judge someone you never met. how would you feel if someone called phyllis phony or crazy or your loved one that. you wouldnt like that
@ifusuckilltellu ...I disagree, Linda Dano came across as a very nice lady and they were just two girls talking..What gave you the impression she was "phony"...?
She was a great person through I did not know her personally, I could feel her in her in her music. You know what I mean? A very graceful and beautiful woman that is gone to soon. RIP.
Yes, everyone has issues but when you couple that with drugs, food, and alcohol addictions simulanteously, its prescription spells disaster. Phyllis coped as best she could and used what she were effective methods. Dipolar disease worsens with time if not treated. Her use of the above only pushed the ticking time bomb faster until she was totally out of control. She is still the best singer I know and sings rings around what's out there, let's give her the props she deserves.
Keep in mind that some people use drugs and alcohol to cope with bipolar disorder. You are so correct that bipolar worsens the longer it is untreated. Unfortunately, so many folks place such stigmas on folks with biologically-based mental illnesses until these folks would not get the necessary help that they need. I get angry sometimes about Phyllis Hyman. Her suicide could have been prevented.
All I got to say is people is so quick to call anyone or phyllis bi polar, people have a name for every god damn thing that is it bit weird to them. None Of us know what phyllis was going through . and to me if people are so quick to call phyllis bi polar, then everyone in this damn world in bi polar even the people who claim they dont have problems
Whoa, take a chill pill dude. It's common knowledge that Phyllis was bi-polar. It's documented in the book about her life as well as by people WHO ACTUALLY KNEW HER (sisters, her manager, colleagues, etc.). She was officially diagnosed with the disease as far back as in 1980 or so. Her mother was also mentally ill in addition to other members of her family.
I know you mean well but your suggestion that we don't know what we're talking about is wrong. We're going on official knowledge.
Also, her bi-polar disease is being discussed because, like it or not, it's part of who she was. It isn't done in the spirit of malice. We're posting w/ the greatest affection for her. The fact that she took her life is what prompts us to discuss that aspect of her life. It's an attempt by those who loved her to understand why she would do such a thing.
Understand that this is where I'm coming from. I have nothing but love for her. I wouldn't have posted this video if I didn't.
damn. i need to go a bit deeper as i read the prior comments. i get what edster and respectn2009 is saying. what i want you all to know is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with extremes in emotions. it's how you direct them. for instance, i, too, am addicted to foods. however, i am addicted to quality food (like she said about wendy's - this is so spooky!) but i realize that quality foods are living foods and, with that said, have adopted a raw food lifestyle.
thank you for this. i completely understand why she did what she did. on another video, she stated she was a cancer with a sagittarian rising - i'm a sagittarius with a cancerean rising. therefore, we have extremely emotional highs and lows and can project extremely well. however, your disappointment could take us out and your thrill would make our lives. i am fortunate to have a man that is a cancer with a sag rising (praise god) - can you believe it?
My point is that it's virtually impossible to compartimentilize depression because we're all so vastly different. People suffer and deal with depression in there OWN way. Phyllis was taught from an early age how to deal with her problems and she carried it through to her adult life because it was all she knew. To say or "label" someone bipolar and tell them they have a disorder I think takes focus off of the real problem at hand. Phyllis was HURTING in her Spirit and her Heart. No labels
Bi-polar disorder can't be healed simply by figuring out what set in motion one's problems. If she had had a perfect life w/ no problems, she still would've had issues simply because her internal body chemistry was off kilter. Granted, her other problems didn't help any; if anything, they exacerbated her downward spiral. Figuring out her other issues wouldn't have prevented her disorder. It can't be cured or prevented that way.
I'm very sorry that you view depression as a chemical imbalance, when in fact their are many different dimensions to it. If you lost everything tomorrow (God forbid)your loved ones, home, job, and suffered erractic mood swings and depression would you say it's because your body chemistry was off kilter? The term bipolar disorder is an "after thought" diagnosis for a pre-exsisting problem caused by trauma, neglect, abuse, loss of a loved one, stress, things of that nature. That should be the focus
Dude, in under 4 years, I've lost a mother, grandmother & a 10 year old niece, so don't go there w/me. I know what pain is but that doesn't make me bi-polar. I never claimed that would be the case. I find it ridiculous and downright offensive that you'd make such an assumption, as if you know anything about me. You know zilch.
Furthermore, based on other posts that you've made elsewhere (which I've read by the way), you seem to have a desire to promote the faith that you have in God & Jesus Christ.
How you've done so in this case is to dismiss an illness. Bi-polar disorder is a real disease. It can't be turned off or extinguished w/an attitude adjustment or a religious conversion. To suggest otherwise as to further your desire to become steadfast in your faith is the most un-Christlike thing any Christian can do.
I love phyllis Hyman don't get me wrong. Her problem is the drug use. People didn't see it at the time but She was addicted to drugs. It ultimately killed her. Just like Luther Vandross, we don't talk about it but Luther was abusing drugs at different points of his career. Most of the old singer hooked on booze and dope are dead. So, why did people like Phyllis think this mixture would work. It didn't work for Dinah Washington and so many others before them.
She was self-medicating. She was severely bi-polar & would use drugs and/or alcohol to self-medicate. The thing with bi-polar disorder is that the highs are EXTREMELY high w/ the crashes just as low. In addition, she had an addiction to food & ballooned to over 300 lbs by her death. Having these issues through the course of her life affected her self-esteem & made her feel she didn't deserve love & success. Even when things would go well, she'd self-sabotage them so that she'd have nothing.
Read her biography in "Strength of a Woman" to gain greater insight into her story. It's quite enthralling & you really feel for her. As strong & captivating as she was, she was extremely vulnerable & in need of a love that would never be enough because she couldn't perceive the love she already had around her. Go here for more:

Ask yourself this question. What was the ROOT of Phyllis' depression? The answer is in the book. Bipolar disorder is a series of "reactions" to a much bigger picture. Part of the reason why she self medicated is because she didn't like the way the perscription medication made her feel. She had a Dis-Ease with her emotional state due to all of the many many things she was dealing with. Her low self-esteem started way before her career, or any of her addictions. Think about it.
am a great Lady, have had trouble getting a strong man who doesn't mind me being a strong
women.I share her moments of pain and sadness being alone alot.I had to learn the hard way the difference between being along and being loney.I figured ir out I wish Phyllis could have done so. I had to remember to love myself 1st and share myself with other and yes I had a few bad relationship then I stopped looking and now am being looked for.
I share Phyllis's sentiment. It's really hard finding love at a certain age. I to understand her pain and sometimes you do want to just give up but what keeps me going are my kids but what I'm afraid of is when they get older. Then it's just me and the loneliness again.
phyllis was not always big she was thin when she first came out in 78 and she was a model!! she was very thin but as you get older you get heavier and she dont like to exercise!!
we all have issues but this women had fame, wealth, and a career. Hell my mother was murdered when i was 9, I got shot in the army, I have no family support. I sometimes feel that god has abandoned me but im not gonna play with my life for attention. God bless the dead
i don't get it....who said that she did all that for attention? neither you nor i knew her personally, therefore we cannot judge or compare our experiences with hers. hell, money and fame ain't everything and she was obviously at the end of her rope- she saw no way out of her torments...everyone has a breaking point.
i feel you on that. We all have our breaking points. Like now i hear a lot about rich people who are committing suicide because they are losing money or because they are bankrupt. Its easy to judge and maybe I need to stop because I dont know what she went through. I think she really did not want to kill her self. It was a silent cry for help
@spirit69warrior thats true, but damn when you got the world at your hands.. hell my mother was murdered when i was 10, I got shot in the army, i still have medical problems. i dont talk to my 6 brothers. hell i dont even talk to my dad and grandmother because they only want to use me. i work day to day....this bitch had a mom who she left and she had fame and fotune. I have no sympathy for some one who have everything and they take their life. she needed god
@leodjoneluv was it necessary to call her a bitch, and plus just because someone it may seem like she had everything in her life does not mean she did. would you like it someone else said the same thing about you regardless of what you say
@leodjoneluv Phyllis had a mental illness. She didn't just randomly wake up and decide like was too much. Also her mother and grandmother passed away within a month when Phyllis was very much alive. You haven't walked a mile in this woman's shoes. Some of us are stronger than other and can sustain things many cannot, but in no way should you feel the need to belittle or have sympathy for someone who probably wouldn't care. You are classless.
@leodjoneluv You can have GOD and still have problems. I tried to commit suicide twice and yes ,GOD brought me out, but once you know what to do, YOU have to keep it up.
Phyllis did want children but had two abortions probably because of history of mental illness in her immediate family from her mother, several siblings and herself plus her father was an alcoholic. Please people buy the book Strength of a Woman by Jason Michael. It will answer so many of your questions. I think she was afraid of passing it on, wouldn't you? A mind out of control makes one do unpredictable and destructive things, and she was no different. She loved others deeply but not herself.
Wow I didn't know that (abortions). I have got my book on order.
I can't wait to read it. I hope that TV one does more stories on these stars. I was too young to get into her music when she was alive but since the special, I have been in awe.
Now you can really feel her pain, she ached for a family of her own, but was realistic enough to know what she could pass on to her children. She was smarter than a lot of people in that area, but it caused her such anguish. I'm a late Phyllis Phan but her music resonates through you. Unless you're dead, you can't help but feel the emotions in her music. There is only one Phyllis. TVone didn't mention her following of loyal and growing phans. Her music is not in traditional music stores.
I don't mean it in a negative way, it's just that she was so tall and big, and BEAUTIFUL! Lots of people have secretly wondered this, and if I offended anyone by the question, I apologize. I love Phyllis and her music and have always wondered where her deep sadness came from. She was so mesmerizing, and mysterious. She also had man troubles. You have to admit that she is a striking-looking woman in a kind of tranny way -- and I mean that as a compliment!
I myself wasn't offended; just surprised at the question. As for her deep sadness, it's explained in detail in her biography by Jason A. Michael "Strength of a Woman". I highly recommend getting it. The details of her bi-polar disorder, insecurities, drug & alcohol abuse and her battles of the bulge help any fan of hers to understand why she found herself in the predicament that she was in. Very insightful and a worthy tribute to the lady.
um kimora lee is over 6 feet tall women are not supposed to be small and petite!!! i wish i was phyllis height and had her grace!! but her shoulder pads made her look a million times bigger!!!
Phyllis was woman all the way. I met her numerous times. The only thing that struck me why you would ask this, is that her hands were very large and square. They were quite quite unique.
There has been a lot posted on the net about how difficult she was. I have been in love with her since 1977 and want to believe that all the negative things that people said about her were untrue. I often wonder that had we met, would she have been attracted to me and would I have LIKED her. It has been 13 years since her passing, but there is not a day that goes pass that I don't think about her and mourn her passing.
Phyllis, the most awesome spirit

The lady that was interviewing Phyllis is such a phony look at her laughing all fake Phyllis should have never wasted her time on broken down shows like this it just didn't compliment her or her talent she is and always will be a true gift from God may she rest in peace now and always!

Hey dude, Linda Dano is anything but phony. I love Phyllis as much as anyone, but you don't have to prove your loyalty to her by slagging off on another great female. If you knew anything about Linda Dano, you'd know that she is indeed sincere.
Edster73 3 years ago 2
Excuse you!

Tjmama5 3 years ago
Tjmam5:
Keep in mind that some people use drugs and alcohol to cope with bipolar disorder. You are so correct that bipolar worsens the longer it is untreated. Unfortunately, so many folks place such stigmas on folks with biologically-based mental illnesses until these folks would not get the necessary help that they need. I get angry sometimes about Phyllis Hyman. Her suicide could have been prevented.
JazzMaestra 3 years ago
All I got to say is people is so quick to call anyone or phyllis bi polar, people have a name for every god damn thing that is it bit weird to them. None Of us know what phyllis was going through . and to me if people are so quick to call phyllis bi polar, then everyone in this damn world in bi polar even the people who claim they dont have problems
SlashPlosion 3 years ago
Whoa, take a chill pill dude. It's common knowledge that Phyllis was bi-polar. It's documented in the book about her life as well as by people WHO ACTUALLY KNEW HER (sisters, her manager, colleagues, etc.). She was officially diagnosed with the disease as far back as in 1980 or so. Her mother was also mentally ill in addition to other members of her family.
I know you mean well but your suggestion that we don't know what we're talking about is wrong. We're going on official knowledge.
Edster73 3 years ago
Also, her bi-polar disease is being discussed because, like it or not, it's part of who she was. It isn't done in the spirit of malice. We're posting w/ the greatest affection for her. The fact that she took her life is what prompts us to discuss that aspect of her life. It's an attempt by those who loved her to understand why she would do such a thing.
Understand that this is where I'm coming from. I have nothing but love for her. I wouldn't have posted this video if I didn't.

damn. i need to go a bit deeper as i read the prior comments. i get what edster and respectn2009 is saying. what i want you all to know is that there is absolutely nothing wrong with extremes in emotions. it's how you direct them. for instance, i, too, am addicted to foods. however, i am addicted to quality food (like she said about wendy's - this is so spooky!) but i realize that quality foods are living foods and, with that said, have adopted a raw food lifestyle.
feroniafreeman 3 years ago
thank you for this. i completely understand why she did what she did. on another video, she stated she was a cancer with a sagittarian rising - i'm a sagittarius with a cancerean rising. therefore, we have extremely emotional highs and lows and can project extremely well. however, your disappointment could take us out and your thrill would make our lives. i am fortunate to have a man that is a cancer with a sag rising (praise god) - can you believe it?
thanks for posting this.
feroniafreeman 3 years ago 3
My point is that it's virtually impossible to compartimentilize depression because we're all so vastly different. People suffer and deal with depression in there OWN way. Phyllis was taught from an early age how to deal with her problems and she carried it through to her adult life because it was all she knew. To say or "label" someone bipolar and tell them they have a disorder I think takes focus off of the real problem at hand. Phyllis was HURTING in her Spirit and her Heart. No labels
Agape2all 3 years ago
Bi-polar disorder can't be healed simply by figuring out what set in motion one's problems. If she had had a perfect life w/ no problems, she still would've had issues simply because her internal body chemistry was off kilter. Granted, her other problems didn't help any; if anything, they exacerbated her downward spiral. Figuring out her other issues wouldn't have prevented her disorder. It can't be cured or prevented that way.
Edster73 3 years ago
I'm very sorry that you view depression as a chemical imbalance, when in fact their are many different dimensions to it. If you lost everything tomorrow (God forbid)your loved ones, home, job, and suffered erractic mood swings and depression would you say it's because your body chemistry was off kilter? The term bipolar disorder is an "after thought" diagnosis for a pre-exsisting problem caused by trauma, neglect, abuse, loss of a loved one, stress, things of that nature. That should be the focus
Agape2all 3 years ago
Dude, in under 4 years, I've lost a mother, grandmother & a 10 year old niece, so don't go there w/me. I know what pain is but that doesn't make me bi-polar. I never claimed that would be the case. I find it ridiculous and downright offensive that you'd make such an assumption, as if you know anything about me. You know zilch.
Edster73 3 years ago
Furthermore, based on other posts that you've made elsewhere (which I've read by the way), you seem to have a desire to promote the faith that you have in God & Jesus Christ.
How you've done so in this case is to dismiss an illness. Bi-polar disorder is a real disease. It can't be turned off or extinguished w/an attitude adjustment or a religious conversion. To suggest otherwise as to further your desire to become steadfast in your faith is the most un-Christlike thing any Christian can do.

getmegot18 3 years ago
I love phyllis Hyman don't get me wrong. Her problem is the drug use. People didn't see it at the time but She was addicted to drugs. It ultimately killed her. Just like Luther Vandross, we don't talk about it but Luther was abusing drugs at different points of his career. Most of the old singer hooked on booze and dope are dead. So, why did people like Phyllis think this mixture would work. It didn't work for Dinah Washington and so many others before them.
Respectn2009 3 years ago
She was self-medicating. She was severely bi-polar & would use drugs and/or alcohol to self-medicate. The thing with bi-polar disorder is that the highs are EXTREMELY high w/ the crashes just as low. In addition, she had an addiction to food & ballooned to over 300 lbs by her death. Having these issues through the course of her life affected her self-esteem & made her feel she didn't deserve love & success. Even when things would go well, she'd self-sabotage them so that she'd have nothing.
Edster73 3 years ago
Read her biography in "Strength of a Woman" to gain greater insight into her story. It's quite enthralling & you really feel for her. As strong & captivating as she was, she was extremely vulnerable & in need of a love that would never be enough because she couldn't perceive the love she already had around her. Go here for more:

Edster73 3 years ago
Ask yourself this question. What was the ROOT of Phyllis' depression? The answer is in the book. Bipolar disorder is a series of "reactions" to a much bigger picture. Part of the reason why she self medicated is because she didn't like the way the perscription medication made her feel. She had a Dis-Ease with her emotional state due to all of the many many things she was dealing with. Her low self-esteem started way before her career, or any of her addictions. Think about it.
Agape2all 3 years ago
You state this as if my comments are contradictory when in actuality it's what I was saying all along. What gives? Think about it.

Strange I can relate to her pain and passion,I
am a great Lady, have had trouble getting a strong man who doesn't mind me being a strong
women.I share her moments of pain and sadness being alone alot.I had to learn the hard way the difference between being along and being loney.I figured ir out I wish Phyllis could have done so.

Then it's just me and the loneliness again.

i don't get it....who said that she did all that for attention? neither you nor i knew her personally, therefore we cannot judge or compare our experiences with hers. hell, money and fame ain't everything and she was obviously at the end of her rope- she saw no way out of her torments...everyone has a breaking point.
darrenandbutterfly 3 years ago 2
i feel you on that. We all have our breaking points. Like now i hear a lot about rich people who are committing suicide because they are losing money or because they are bankrupt. I have no sympathy for some one who have everything and they take their life. she needed god
leodjoneluv 1 year ago
@leodjoneluv was it necessary to call her a bitch, and plus just because someone it may seem like she had everything in her life does not mean she did. would you like it someone else said the same thing about you regardless of what you say
spirit69warrior 1 year ago
@leodjoneluv Phyllis had a mental illness. She didn't just randomly wake up and decide like was too much. Also her mother and grandmother passed away within a month when Phyllis was very much alive. You haven't walked a mile in this woman's shoes. Some of us are stronger than other and can sustain things many cannot, but in no way should you feel the need to belittle or have sympathy for someone who probably wouldn't care. You are classless.
omeirdeleon 1 year ago
@leodjoneluv You can have GOD and still have problems. I tried to commit suicide twice and yes ,GOD brought me out, but once you know what to do, YOU have to keep it up.

EVERY interview that I have been able to review since that TV One special on Monday, screams that she wanted to be married & have kids.
Her last two albums stated that. She couldn't find love for whatever reason.
I think that was one of the reason why she ended it. Some of her friends in the industry stated that she wanted a child.
And she was 40 during this interview, childless with no potential mates.
She didn't want to live all alone.
It reminds me of Halle Berry.
soymilk1527 3 years ago
Phyllis did want children but had two abortions probably because of history of mental illness in her immediate family from her mother, several siblings and herself plus her father was an alcoholic. Please people buy the book Strength of a Woman by Jason Michael. It will answer so many of your questions. I think she was afraid of passing it on, wouldn't you? A mind out of control makes one do unpredictable and destructive things, and she was no different. She loved others deeply but not herself.
Tjmama5 3 years ago 3
Wow I didn't know that (abortions). I have got my book on order.
I can't wait to read it. I hope that TV one does more stories on these stars. I was too young to get into her music when she was alive but since the special, I have been in awe.
soymilk1527 3 years ago
Now you can really feel her pain, she ached for a family of her own, but was realistic enough to know what she could pass on to her children. She was smarter than a lot of people in that area, but it caused her such anguish. I'm a late Phyllis Phan but her music resonates through you. Unless you're dead, you can't help but feel the emotions in her music. There is only one Phyllis. TVone didn't mention her following of loyal and growing phans. Her music is not in traditional music stores.

Of course. Why do you ask?
Edster73 3 years ago
I don't mean it in a negative way, it's just that she was so tall and big, and BEAUTIFUL! Lots of people have secretly wondered this, and if I offended anyone by the question, I apologize. I love Phyllis and her music and have always wondered where her deep sadness came from. She was so mesmerizing, and mysterious. She also had man troubles. You have to admit that she is a striking-looking woman in a kind of tranny way -- and I mean that as a compliment!
SmoothCinnamonX 3 years ago
I myself wasn't offended; just surprised at the question. As for her deep sadness, it's explained in detail in her biography by Jason A. Michael "Strength of a Woman". I highly recommend getting it. The details of her bi-polar disorder, insecurities, drug & alcohol abuse and her battles of the bulge help any fan of hers to understand why she found herself in the predicament that she was in. Very insightful and a worthy tribute to the lady.
