Thank you. I'm finishing up the inside now but I'm running our of summer. Going to wait for next year to launch so I can keep her in the shop this winter. Should be ready to go outside and be finished in the spring.
Thanks for your interest. I am redrawing the plans to reflect changes I made since starting the big boat. I have almost 8 hrs of video of the building. The Jani J is an experimental boat so none of it will be marketable untill she has proven herself in the water.
I'm wanting to bend/mold some plywood similiar to what you've done but I'm wondering if I have to steam it first and then put it on the mold...looks like you just glued several layers on??? What's the secret Capt?
I used 1/8 ply in 4 layers on the round house. One layer at a time and a staple gun, pulled the stapels before the next layer, after the glue dried, clamping a board with wax paper over the joint, pieces being longer then 8 ft. On the hull I clamped the 5/8 ext ply in place, draped blankets over them and poured boiling hot water over them. Let them set a few days and I had bent ply. Depends on the radius of the bend if you have to steam or not. I didnt have to with the 1/8 on a 3 ft radius.
Thank you. I actually drew them. The first was to build the model, then I drew the one for the big boat with what I learned. Its based on a Pacific Power Dory.
Thanks for the response Steve. Just need warm weather so I can glass this thing and get it turned over. Hope to launch befor next winter. COME ON SPRING!!!!
Love the soundtrack. How you play guitar and fiddle at same time?

Thanks Steve, that makes sense with the staples to hold the layers. I like the wet blanket idea too!

Built the boat, made the guitar, made the fiddle, wrote the song, sang the song and played the instruments. Amazing.
