Beautiful tegu, but not a responsible situation I would suggest people putting either of these animals in. At the end of the day, a tegu is a tegu and personifying animals or using expressions like "dog tame" are terms that people take too literally. Lizards don't have the same outlook on social behavior and playtime that a kitten does. Lucky that it's simply being tolerant ... but if it decided to latch onto that cat's paw and they injure each other, it would be the owner's fault.

most likly in wild nature the tegu would atempt to injure or kill the cat if it got in his face like that. simply because their a HUGE diffrent between wild animals, and captive bred pets.

@urborg74 I must disagree, if the cat had room to maneuver then I'd bet on the cat but if the tegu corners or ambushes the feline then I'd say the Tegu would easily win. Deduction: Nile Monitors are known to eat feral cats. A tegu can reach a similar weight and possibly has a greater bite force. Compared to an Iguana or monitor its tail hits more like a bludgeon and could probably dislocate joints or bruise/fracture ribs.

Yes. He's 42 inches long. Blue tegus normally only hit 3.5 feet tops. For some reason they are the smallest of the tegu species. So he is actually just above average size.
