Please give yourself a change to HEAL. Don't fall prey to the skepticism. Remove your contacts and palm for an hour. If you don't see any immediate improvements I will give you $20.
I hope everything goes ok with your eye, I know so little about the subject that I really can't offer much more than well-wishing.
I do know a person who has lost his vision in one eye due to an accident, and it was actually quite some time before I found out. I've asked him and he has not noticed it having a significant impact on his life, even tasks that would be expected to rely on depth perception.
I realize that's not terribly comforting, but I hope it removes *some* stress to hear it.
You would almost think that the eyes were pretty poorly designed, definitely didn't have a genius working on that one. Do hope you can get it fixed though.
Myopic degeneration is what happened to my friend. The docs performed vision corection. This took the strain off his retinas. In his case, the thick lenses he wore were making the light increase the damage to his retinas. Is this what your doctor may do, or is it another type of surgery?
Ok. Well I wouldn't worry too much yet. If it was macular degeneration (I asked about this in another question on here), that would be REALLY BAD...it is usually an irreversable congential defect which ends in blindness. However Myopic degeneration is due to poor vision which strains the eyes and may damage retinas. Thus, I would play it chill until you hear that it is untreatable. cheers!
You do need a referral to see the specialist. I assume that you are under the same crappy health care that the rest of us Americans are.
Myopic degeneration is in fact the main cause of blindness in the US. I deal with this alot because my current gig is in fact as a librarian for the national library service which provides audio material for the blind.
At your age a specialist can delay it until you are a senior citizen. Most of our clients are the poor that did not get preventive therapy.
Hey man, first of all I hope there is nothing seriously wrong with your eyes. I have some family history of similar issues so I know you are probably worried. I hope everything works out.
Also, thanks a lot for mentioning the song in your video and linking to my channel. That made my day even after a cancelled flight, lost luggage and a four hour wait for nothing at the airport.
If your eye totally failed you could always get a prosthesis--I mean I believe that's doable (from the medical, very general, very non-specialist POV).
Howver you might be preemptively freaking out--my cat got an inflamed nipple a while ago and I googled it and everything was like CANCER YOUR CAT HAS CANCER! and the vet was just like, "Yeah that's probably just an infection."

I don't know. He said very little more than he was concerned, and insisted I see a retinal specialist.

We're all in the same boat when it comes to health issues, and I know from experience that it can be rather scary.
Here's hoping you get good news from the specialist....

Your third eye is too powerful for your normal, earthly eyes to keep up.
Just kidding.
Hope it all works out.

I have myopia as well. At least we probably won't need glasses to read when we're older, heh.
