  • i love his solo concerts because he just doesn't give a damn he plays what they want to hear, and then some

  • Aaron is a God.

  • Tommorow! Hope he plays this song.

  • @hawaiinTarheel

see Corey Taylor. Aaron and Corey are the 2 best singers of our age, bar none.

  • @jnlp30 100% agreed. Both my modern day idols.

  • It's ok, not as good as Nine Inch Nails or Johnny Cash; but not as bad as Leona Lewis.

  • Eh, still think Johnny Cash's cover is the best version of this song.

  • he "buzes the frets" for effect. He is an amazing vocalist and guitarist!

  • i wanna see him live!!!!!

  • @mechapigman I've seen staind about 15 times i'm from new england when they first came out and hit it big i seen them a bunch of times go if u get the chance

  • God u got nothing better to do? Or u just want to be RIGHT>? Johnny Cash is the man on this song

  • God u got nothing better to do? Or u just want to be RIGHT>?

  • I will post this under every fucking cover of hurt, just to shut up the idiots.

    Hurt (Nine Inch Nails song)

    From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Hurt" is a song written by Trent Reznor, first released on Nine Inch Nails' 1994 album The Downward Spiral. In 2002, "Hurt" was covered by Johnny Cash to critical acclaim; it was one of Cash's final hit releases before his death.

  • @Deathcorpler

"It felt like a warm hug. For anyone who hasn't seen [the video], I highly recommend checking it out. I have goose bumps right now thinking about it. That's something that matters to me. It's not so much what other people think but the fact that this guy felt that it was worthy of interpreting."

    Trent Reznor 2008

So can we go on now?

  • Simply amazing...

  • i hate to tell everybody he did a god job and even trent said the song was wrote for the man in black mr. johnny cash

  • The buzzes of the strings are supposed to be there people! Trent also plays it on a piano. Johnny is something else. all of those people played it beautifully

  • SMH I am disappoint... Aaron Lewis is an awesome vocalist and I am a huge fan but this cover left me wanting more. This sounds like every 16 year old kid with a guitar. Nothing unique whatsoever. When Sevendust covered this, Clint kinda did his own thing with it and it was amazing. Not hating on Aaron but I expected more.

  • who could else but trent bro pls

  • 17 people can have my pile of dirt

  • this is what I love about live music, it never sounds "perfect". He misses notes and "buzzs' frets" but it gives the music soul and makes it more meaningful than the original recording which is altered in the studio to sound as good as possible.

  • Aside from all the bickering from the NIN/Cash hard core crowds (I love both NIN and Cash) Aarons Cover truly is the two meeting in the middle.

  • horrid cover from a talented dude.. cept for the chorus

  • Chills...

  • actually cash wrote it in 76, ray reznor was the recording engineer, never released it, did not like it, trent grew up hearing old songs by the beatles, cash, presley, ect. trent gained permission from cash to release it, but cash did not want to be credited with the song, so trent was allowed to cover it only if he claimed it. later, as cash was getting near the end, he did alot of covers, including a cover of a song he actually wrote himself. how many musicians can say that?

  • @funkyhardkor how do you figure...or did you just make that up in your head

  • @funkyhardkor How many musicians cans ay that? The imaginary ones like the one you've made up.

BTW, it's TRENT Reznor. Not RAY Reznor.

  • @funkyhardkor This is originally a NIN song. Reznor wrote it. When Johnnys people asked trent for permission, he said no, at first. Then they sent him a copy to listen and Johnnys version changed his mind.

  • 9 inch nails wrote this pretty sure

  • What a great cover!

  • Trent wrote it Johnny Cash covered it

  • Great song, but that string needs to be tuned!

  • my fav. cover of this song is still my johnny cash, you try singing something as deep as this at or near the end of your life, in his health, and make a video of it for the world to see. That's balls.

  • my fav. cover of this song is still my johnny cash, you try singing something as deep as this at or near the end of your life, in his health, and make a video of it for the world to see. That's balls.

  • I notice people often comment on Aaron playing the guitar poorly... I quote Aaron when I met him, "I know enough to get me by." (Referring to playing the guitar) I will not let the shit talkers prevail as they so often do here on YouTube - Aaron Lewis is one of the most genuine dudes I've ever met. So chill the fuck out on those hate comments.

  • I love Aaron Lewis. But, this is a shit.

  • NO BUDDY CAN SING LIKE AARON!!!MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT MAN

  • How does a smoker have that unfaltering voice? Fucking talented! Fretted guitar notes and all still nearly brought tears to my eyes. awesome

  • @gomikego65 no, I was referring to his recently released country album Town Line.

  • @catseatingclouds for someone to crossover from Staind to country music is a great feat. AL is an amazing vocal talent.

  • @nikeizcarried I'm sorry, did you just call nine inch nails "country music". haha jesus christ.

  • I like country and I like Johnny Cash but I didn't like when Johnny covered this song.

  • I personally like the effect of the "buzzy" frets. Gives it more character, kinda like the effects Trent Reznor used on the original version. Good stuff.

  • sevendust cover is better .. \m/

  • One of my favorite songs... covered by my favorite singer.

    This is great

  • Everyone hits a bad chord in their life once in awhile, so what! Those of you that don't get with this get over it.

  • ive yet to hear anything from aaron that disliked...especially ANYTHING accoustic

  • greatly done

  • man this fag cant play the guitar at all.

  • @catseatingclouds It's funny to me that Aaron never claims to be a spectacular guitarist. Listen to his voice. Does your voice have the range he does? Didn't think so. Why do you sit through several of his videos if he "buzzes the shit out of the frets"?

  • @sta1ndsoul it's a shitty cover. i don't care. your name is sta1ndsoul, good music obviously isn't among your interests, so i wouldn't expect you to view this video subjectively. enjoy your shallow music interests. peace.

  • @catseatingclouds hey man aaron did this song justice i dont see y u have to bash it and what is ur preference of music? what is non shit music to u?

  • @ryzer11 i like duane and steven.

  • @catseatingclouds who in the blue hell are they?

  • @ryzer11 the best.

  • @catseatingclouds i highly doupt that but ok

  • @sta1ndsoul

i agree. who cares if he buzzes his frets. staind has always buzzed a lot of their frets. i fucking love aaron lewis.

  • @sta1ndsoul i also like the emotion he puts into his lyrics. you can tell he's singing from the heart and soul.

  • @sta1ndsoul I think he's buzzing on purpose on this one to make it sound more like the NIN sound

  • @krosanknight I agree. He's intentionally buzzing the frets.

  • @catseatingclouds your life is a joke go watch some jonas brothers

  • @CToon123 lol, just because i don't like staind doesn't mean i listen to jonas brothers.

  • @catseatingclouds then why are you on a aaron lewis video if you dont like staind derp

  • @CToon123 i honestly didn't know how shitty he was until this video. i wish someone would've warned me. also lol @ all the staind fans who think they are deep because staind is their favorite band. listening to staind doesn't make you perceptive or sensitive, it's makes you a whiny bitch.

  • @catseatingclouds how bout go watch something else then retard who said anything about being sensitive have you heard there early shit obviously your a little kid who stays mainstream so go listen to some of this jive they call good music and leave true fans of music alone

  • @CToon123 lol, staind is much more mainstream than anything i listen to. staind isn't even close to "true" music.

  • @catseatingclouds If Staind's music wasn't true music, why are you commenting more than one of these videos? Get a fucking life, dude. Quit talking shit. Let's see your music writing skills. Didn't think so.

  • @catseatingclouds Ok, let's see how many of your non-mainstream musicians can sit down, just them and a guitar, and still leave so many of us in complete awe! His voice is his instrument, he doesn't need a whole band to back him up, he doesn't even need the guitar. I listen to a ton of different styles of music from many decades, and his voice is one of the most incredible I've ever heard!

  • @catseatingclouds aaron lewis has stated before that he considers himself to be little more than a novice on guitar. and even then he very rarely messes up.. name 3 videos you have seen of him that he "buzzes the shit out of the frets" on you pathetic piece of shit

  • @catseatingclouds It's funny to me that you think music is all about technique. The song has meaning behind it, and that's what matters. They must not have taught you that wherever you learned guitar.

  • @catseatingclouds Its funny to me how Aaron is one of the few musicians who can go up on stage by himself with a acoustic guitar and sound absolutely breathe taking. NO ONE in rock music can do what Aaron can do with just a guitar and his amazing voice.

  • @HawaiinTarheel I beg to differ on that one.... Ever heard of the lead singer of shinedown, ever heard of the lead singer of Alter Bridge.... That's just a few, but I can name off a lot more!!!!

  • @catseatingclouds

dude, he's high as shit, and it still sounds good, cut him some slack.

  • @catseatingclouds go back to your fuckin autotuned justin bieber music & stop going on videos you don't like anyways...simple as that.

  • @catseatingclouds listen pall im 15 years old ive been playing guitar for 10 years and i know arron lewis is not the only one who ends up not putting enough pressure on the fretboard so the nicest way i can put this is fuck off!!!! :)

  • @catseatingclouds wtf bro, he played perfectly and with great acoustics (no muted notes, all crisp strums and picks). Plus, it's his solid vocals. I bet you never heard yourself performing or else you'd realize how hard it is to perform at this quality.

  • be a lot better if he could play the freakin guitar.

  • 7/10

  • sounds out of tune but whatever

  • he's covering the NIN version, which you can tell by the way he's playing.

    But man....Aaron is golden :D

  • listen to the orginal song, it is not out of tune.

  • out of tune

  • really didnt love his guitar in this. his voice was perfect as always

  • trend wrote this but i wish cash had the credit 4 it lol

  • Would have been WAY better if he would have tuned that e string first...

  • @MrDMachuta

    Agreed

  • @MrDMachuta Listen to the Nine Inch Nails version, it's supposed to be dissonant. On the Johnny Cash version, they just made it an A minor - fits Cash's style much better.

  • stonesour does the best job out of anyone

  • he is LIT AS FUCK!!! hahaha.......oh man...gotta love aaron lewis

  • I almost cried during this song. This song hits you so hard. It's genious, and it's beautiful. Aaron sings life during the chorus of this song. So real. So deep.

  • 14 dislikes = Justin Beiber Fans

  • johnny cash did it better than aaron and nin . had more meaning comin from an old man at the end of his life lookin back on his life

  • @mjb13ell while i totally agree with that comment that it does fit better with johnny cash... dont u find it completely ironic that it was Trent Reznor that wrote it not Johnny Cash when it truly does fit Johnny

  • @mjb13ell This is just my opinion, I think It FIT Johnny Cash the best out of the 3, but because of the kind of music I listen to, his version didn't really appeal to me. I loved the original by NiN Because 1) It was written by them and 2) It seems to have the most emotion out of the 3. The reason this version appeals so much to me is because I'm a huge Staind fan and it's just interesting as hell to hear him do solo covers of all these amazing songs haha :)

  • @GirFreak113 thats cool . i'm a fan of all three . like many songs by all three. aaron lewis is a great talent . he rarely does a cover that is not amazing . also a huge cach fan . he kicked asson that coverand many other hits . he's a change of pace for my usuall classic to 90's rock taste but good music is good music . nin was also the shit and you always have to tip your hat to whomeve wrote and origanally performed a song .hurt is just a terrific piece of songwriting

  • @mjb13ell Thumbs up for you, my friend haha ^-^b

  • horrible playing

  • this song sucks!!! i want my view the f back

    4

  • @almiqhtyNINA and you can go slit yur throat and jump off a bridge you stupid paffetic excuse of a lifeform =)

  • His acoustic stuff is a million times better then staind. I could listen to it all day long.

  • His acoustic stuff is a million times better then staind. I could listen to it all day long.

  • this song makes me want 2 cut myself 2 pieces what have i become everyone i know goes away in the end

  • @filtheater127 grow up

  • This is one of the most beautiful things I've ever heard in my life

  • Aaron Is amazing! Fuck anyone whom Says other wise.. I hope u eat shit and play in fire

  • @staindbizkit You are gay

  • I guess he is doing the NIN version because it has the flat notes in it.

  • @demonrockgod Well, he's playing even that wrong lol. But decent cover anyway, at least the singing.

  • @demonrockgod

Not to mention he sings "crown of sh*t" instead of "crown of thorns"

  • @killakeith it's supposed to say "crown of shit"

  • he's the best :)

  • yea dont get me wrong this is great but johnny cash owned this song his old voice and knowing his life ext he just had the best touch to it in my eyes

  • I'm a huge NIN, and I gotta give it to AL. He adds his own touch and does a great job over all.

  • aaron has made this cover again on an other concert way better. but this is also good

  • my opinion, purely mine, I think Johnny Cash, Aaron lewis, Then the original nin.

    but that is me.

  • Was this being professionally recorded? Wher did the multiple camera angles for the multi-cam mix come frrom?

  • @garyacey think this was beening recond for the live sync website

  • trent reznor is the original not johnny cash for fuck sakes

  • @canadianblackhawk im glad somebody said it

  • he fucked it all up. horrible cover. i love that song, love aaron lewis, but i'm very dissapointed.

  • Comment removed

  • @MrJohnnymoloney It was originally by Nine Inch Nails so it obviously was not written for Johnny Cash

  • Personally I think I like the Cash version the best, but this is an amazing cover of the song. Aaron is an amazing musician and performer. I think he makes the song his own.

  • Trent Reznor is a theif for stealing this song from the great Johnny Cash and taking credit for it!

  • @514tv

    Don't be a Douche

  • @514tv troll detected. nice try.

  • @514tv

    Yer a f**kin idiot.

  • Does he have a nasty fret buzz on the high E, or is it just the audio quality? Kind of bothersome, but without question this is an awesome version of this song...

  • 2 minutes into this song, he kills it better that reznor or cash

  • It was gold when Johny Cash covered it..

  • @erikrcks and it's gold when aaron covers it.

  • @sta1ndsoul even better when Reznor sings it...just sayin

  • @sta1ndsoul

It was platinum when Trent covered it haha

  • @Lazyskins82

    trent covered it?

    TRENTE wrote it bro

  • @opethgarzaMD no shit, I was joking cuz everyone is saying it was gold and shit when other people covered it! but anyways, at least you're a fan

  • @opethgarzaMD god people are dumb i read somewhere that cash made it and trent covered it what retards

  • @opethgarzaMD

I cant believe people dont know that

  • @shadymd4

i think it is very sad to speak without knowing shit

it's better to ask, listen and read, and then to speak, that's why we have two eyes, two ears, and just one mouth

obviously i'm not referring to you xD but to your post about the other guy

  • @opethgarzaMD A lot of people seem to think it was a Jonny Cash song, heh

  • @sta1ndsoul It wasnt very much of anything when NIN did it.

  • @Herps85 it was A LANDMARK SUCESS when he did best song in the best album of all time

  • @sta1ndsoul Not really. This song needs a guy singing it with a sore throat just to awaken the emotions. This is NOT that. Aaron Lewis is a GREAT singer but this is a wrong song for him.

  • @sitothebrave just because you're used to the johnny cash version.. do you really think that's fair? aaron can put much more emotions into songs than cash does. if you ask me, cash's version is meh.. i don't hear any pain out of his voice, not even once. whereas aaron can concentrate on the lyrics and sings it just the way it's supposed to. and im not saying that because i like aaron more than cash.. i listened to cash's version more than enough..

its just the perfect song for aaron..

  • @erikrcks and it was platinum covered diamonds when NIN made it

  • @erikrcks it was gold when Nine Inch Nails did it.

  • its gold when its played and heard!

  • @TheEmosSuck You are definately incorrect. I have the Cash album. Song is credited to Trent Resnor. Check your facts buddy

  • @TheEmosSuck check your facts before you make a fool out of yourself

  • @TheEmosSuck You're fucking retarded. Trent Reznor wrote this song and recorded it at least a decade before Johnny Cash did.

  • nine inch nails

  • @perdedor3571 The original song (and still/will always be the best version) is by Nine Inch Nails off of their album "The Downward Spiral."

  • Comment removed

  • @jftino I personally like the Cash version better but NIN did the original version. Cash just did an awesome cover of the song. Trent Reznor, from NIN, wrote the song.

  • @bigwurm1987 haha yea i dont know what i was thinking i must have been drunk when i typed that or something.

  • sevendusts version was way better

  • who sings the original version of this song?

  • "Number 4 prostitute in all of kazakhstan" hahahaha that is hilarious!

  • It`s actually a mix of both, If I remember correctly too I believe he was wingin` it in this video.

  • I admit - everytime I hear this song, two salty rivers run down my face

  • one of the best songs ever, by one of the best performers... but I still thinking the mix of the two version (like he said) doesn´t works that well... he can do it better

  • aaron is great but something about the guitar just doesn't sound right imo.

  • did i alowed you to say something negative here?! one vote - ^^

  • This is an amazing song...Aaron did such an awesome job with it

  • @bashjoelio

    let's see your cover then

  • aaron lewis is one of the best out there

  • i absolutely love this song!!! almost as much as i love aaron lewis!!! he's the beez kneez!!!

  • While not on par with the Cash version, which by the way Reznor said "it's his song now" speaking of Cash. I think it is a great performance, and think Arron is a fantastic performer himself. I am glad to see that Aaron used the original lyrics instead of usings Cash's altered lyrics

  • no u right doe... he makes up for his clunks on guitar with his voice... i would never go to one of his shows for his guitar playing... its his spine-chilling voice... gets me everytime

  • i got goosebumps listening to this, beautiful song and aaron is an amazing singer

  • no one is more moving or talented then that man

  • does anyone know where i can download this

  • @hayden68123

just download "youtube downloader" it's free, easy, adn works great.

    Search it
