  • very nice car!

  • BMWs X-Drive AWD system seems awfully similar to Acuras SH-AWD system. Im assuming everyone in the luxury segment will now produce a torque vectoring AWD system.

  • its sure does

  • Just remember BMW's X-Drive was around first. It was first intorduced on the X5.

  • X-Drive ont he X5 only shifts torque between axles. SH-awd allows torque to be continuously distributed between front and rear wheels from 70% front/30% rear to 30% front/70% rear, with up to 100% of the rear power being distributed to the outer left or right wheel to assist in cornering and dramatically reducing understeer. One of the most advanced AWD systems to date. The new X-drive sytem similar to the SH-awd was first introduced on the X6 NOT the X5. Same name different execution.

  • @blkguynlex

The understeer is inherint to the Acura.. when a vehicle is balanced ...all the tech in the world will not make is a better handling car.

  • @8motion, I'm fully aware that a FWD based car with the drivetrain in front of the axle will inherently have understeer compared to a RWD based vehicle with far better weight distribution. The fact is that the Acura SH-awd system makes the vehicle far more tossible and predictable in the corners while significantly reducing understeer. However a RWD based vehicle with a similar acting AWD system would do even better simply because of the superior layout.

  • Honda's SH-AWD system is FRONT-ALL WHEEL instead of the ordinary REAR-ALL WHEEL. It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard of in my entire life.

  • @DJFG85, I'm fully aware that Acura's are FWD based AWD cars. However, you need to do some research before you comment on the system as the X6 above has a similar system which can distribute torque front to back and side to side on the rear axle. SH-awd can even send full power to 1 wheel.
