When this went down. Blanco and "Chocolate City"Nagin really fucked up. They put UNARMED Air National Guardsmen to maintain order in the Superdome. And sent what was left of NOPD (Those who didnt disappear in stolen Cadillacs and Hummers to disarm the citizens who needed those weapons to protect themselves. EVERYONE in charge screwed up on this one.
Excellent job. Good choice of song also. My unit was called up & we went in right afterwards. Let me say there is no substitute for seeing it firsthand. You had to feel for what happened to the people down there. No matter your opinion of how it was handled/mishandled, hope to God you never have anything like this happen to you.
You aint kidding Charger..I was assigned to an Air Guard Field Hospital in Bay St. Louis Mississippi I had just come home from Iraq when I was sent to Katrina. Iraq was interesting...But Katrina looked like someone nuked the Gulf Coast. We went down to Keesler AFB in Biloxi for supplies and every which way I turned it just looked like a nuclear holocaust. It was very sad but I am proud of the work we did do to help. Peace!

all i can say is george bush and others failed these people big time. where is mr. bush today to help them. here is no where to be found. oh thats right he's busy with the war. the war should end today!! how many more people have to die while bush is in? office
i'm hoping the war ends before my brother graduates from college he's on a scarlorship from the army for college bush is an evil man i worked at a shelter after Katrina and then i hear later that the shelters need to be shut down because bush said so and alot of ppl ended up on the streets bush needs to be shot not killed just shot so he learns to help others
The people were told to get out of town before it hit. But Im sure if it was Queen Hilary dropping the ball on an issue like this it would be overlooked. I dont care much for W but its not really a federal problem when it comes to natural disasters. But with the cradle to grave government assistance people seem to crave. I understand why they are pissed.
Thats more of a failure on the clowns that run the city. It wouln't have taken too much to but the city bus system into neighborhods and then get out of town. Nagin and Blanco also bear a heavy portion of the blame. But they are Democrats so that's different right?
Finally ONE person on youtube that actually is willing to hold Democrats liable for the Katrina mess as well. There may still be hope in the world : )

If you want to blame Bush for anything. Blame him for the entire LA Army National Guard being in Iraq at the time Katrina hit. Trust me...the 256th BCT lived right down the street from me when I was in Iraq. We were issuing those poor bastards sleeping pills let and right after Katrina hit and they couldnt reach their families.
