Again, the Republicans were not quite the party of conservatives yet.............and the southern Democrats were still Dixiecrats.
Lincoln didn't free the slaves. The disastrous, but good-intentioned 14A did. The Emancipation Proclamation was an unconstitutional act and it didn't free all the slaves. It only applied to some union-occupied areas and did not apply to states like MO and TX that did not secede. It also did not apply to TN, which was under total Union control. It was merely wartime propaganda.
@fubecabr Lincoln knew that the Emancipation Proclamation had to be viewed as a temporary measure because it was only based on his war powers. Therefore, Lincoln made the 13th Amendment--which abolished slavery--the centerpiece of the Republican Party's platform in the election following the Emancipation Proclamation. This wasn't just propaganda either. This was evidence that, regardless of Lincoln's intentions, Lincoln-Republican voters were opposed to slavery. Republicans banished slavery.
The 14th and 15th Amendments followed some years later to deal with civil rights issues that cropped up as a direct result of racist Democrats' resistance over the 13th Amendment. The fact that the 13th didn't all on its own make the USA a civil rights nirvana is no reason to ignore it as the one that banned slavery. Nor is the fact that it was passed during Lincoln's tenure.
The only thing that switched was that racism became unpopular. When it was popular, Democrat Populists proudly flaunted their racism. But all of the sudden, racism became unpopular, so the Democrat Populists, after resisting throughout the '50s and '60s and losing that fight, suddenly wanted to take credit for the civil rights achievements they had opposed. To comment on the main question in the vid, the standard for racism seems very low. Anything can be stigmatized as racism and the prevailing attitude seems to be that whites are considered guilty of racism until proven innocent, and fear such attribution very much. So the only people who even make a half-hearted attempt at white advancement seem to be already marginalized people or those in insulated rural communities. But whites are not oppressed, there is just this climate of shame.

If a Catholic is raised to believe lending $100 for a week has a fixed value--say, $5--and sees a Jew lending for more than that, the Catholic will hate the Jew for being greedy. That's good for Church leaders. Of course, a Catholic practicing usury himself will learn that you really do gotta lend for more interest if you're going to lend to uncreditworthy people or you'll go outta business. Can't have that, so the Church forbad its followers from practicing usury while corralling Jews into it.
If only the Jews were charging 5 or 10% interest. Try 80% interest. They had the market cornered. It was not a free market. The peasants faced the choice of paying the dirty and greedy Jew 80% interest to buy seed for the crop and possible debtor's prison or starvation.
I think we need to bring back usury laws if we're gonna have the FDIC and bailouts. I'd limit it to the FED rate + 10%. That ought to be plenty of spread for credit-worthy borrowers and sufficient collateral.

Lincoln didn't free the slaves. The disastrous, but good-intentioned 14A did. The Emancipation Proclamation was an unconstitutional act and it didn't free all the slaves. It only applied to some union-occupied areas and did not apply to states like MO and TX that did not secede. It also did not apply to TN, which was under total Union control. It was merely wartime propaganda.

This wasn't just propaganda either. This was evidence that, regardless of Lincoln's intentions, Lincoln-Republican voters were opposed to slavery. Republicans banished slavery.

The 14th and 15th Amendments followed some years later to deal with civil rights issues that cropped up as a direct result of racist Democrats' resistance over the 13th Amendment. The NAAWP is racist but whites do need an advancement organization to lobby on our behalf. Blacks are overrepresented in the movies, media, sports, tv, and music and have every opportunity. Professors in colleges are incorrectly teaching children that slavery built this nation. To comment on the main question in the vid, the standard for racism seems very low. Anything can be stigmatized as racism and the prevailing attitude seems to be that whites are considered guilty of racism until proven innocent, and fear such attribution very much. So the only people who even make a half-hearted attempt at white advancement seem to be already marginalized people or those in insulated rural communities. But whites are not oppressed, there is just this climate of shame.

Actually the alphabet as far back as we can trace it derives from the Phoenicians, (origin of modern phonic, method used to teach reading) which as far as I know would correspond to modern Lebanon. So we are probably talking about a Semitic, or Semitic-Mediterranean people. Most likely very similar ethnically to the current people in that region.

There is no one alive today who was a tortured slave at one point. Why should someone like OJ Simpson be given a reparation check just because he is black. Since that worked out so well, the tribes would go out and get more slaves to sell to the slave traders. Just think of all the unfortunate blacks in Africa today who were NOT captured and sold. You could very well be back there getting your arms hacked off of you just because you weren't in the right tribe with the right dumb ass name, Hutu, Tutsi, or whatever. You could be left out in the desert to starve by your black Muslim brothers who consider themselves Arab and not African, and therefore act like a good Muslim and cause grief and suffering wherever you go.

Think again..........there were certain West African{Mali, Songhai, etc.} and even a couple of Southern African civilizations{Zimbabwe being a prominent example} that were doing just fine until certain European governments{keyword}, introduced the global slave trade around the beginning of the 1600s.

Of course, I'm sure you recognize it wasn't Africans who ended slavery. Their stronger warrior tribes actively preyed on weaker tribes throughout history. It was British Quakers who started the anti-slavery political crusade by appealing to the Christian hearts and minds of the Anglican Clapham Sect.

That would be indicative of nothing at all nefarious if Jews are raised to view banking as a legitimate profession and people from whatever subculture you come from are raised to hate bankers. Historic antiSemitism stems largely from Jews' role as middlemen + public ignorance re: the vital role middlemen play in markets. Legally--forcibly--denied access to many occupations in the production of goods, Euro Jews could only thrive via interstitial services not covered by the sweeping discriminatory bans against them. So they became middlemen, moving goods and money over time and space--time because the Catholic Church's moral prohibitions against charging interest didn't apply to them.

It's a profound aspect of economics and I simply don't know how we can get members of the general population like you to comprehend it well enough to not destroy free markets. I really don't see how the Catholic Church used the Physical Fallacy to maintain power. It was really just an out of control mind control cult, enforced by the sword.
I don't have a problem with someone charging interest in a free market system, but the problem is that the banking system now and in the middle ages was anything but a free market.

@fubecabr The Catholic Church instilled in its followers that usury was immoral; that things had a set value, based on the costs to produce them without regard to the varying subjective values placed on them by individual consumers. It held back economic progress for centuries, which was fine for the Church leaders, who 1) couldn't fathom the elevated standard of living they were preventing and 2) were able to direct dissatisfaction toward Jews whom they corralled into professions like usury.

If a Catholic is raised to believe lending $100 for a week has a fixed value--say, $5--and sees a Jew lending for more than that, the Catholic will hate the Jew for being greedy. That's good for Church leaders. Of course, a Catholic practicing usury himself will learn that you really do gotta lend for more interest if you're going to lend to uncreditworthy people or you'll go outta business. Can't have that, so the Church forbad its followers from practicing usury while corralling Jews into it.

If only the Jews were charging 5 or 10% interest. Try 80% interest. They had the market cornered. It was not a free market. The peasants faced the choice of paying the dirty and greedy Jew 80% interest to buy seed for the crop and possible debtor's prison or starvation.
I think we need to bring back usury laws if we're gonna have the FDIC and bailouts. I'd limit it to the FED rate + 10%. That ought to be plenty of spread for credit-worthy borrowers and sufficient collateral.
