Any gear which is taller than 1:1 is an overdrive. Normal 5 speed boxes 4th is 1:1 and 5th is 0.x:1 so yes 99% of the time 5th gear is an overdrive gear. Most 4 speed autos 3rd is 1:1 ratio so with those 4th is the OD.
really? then what the hell do you call 5th gear huh? when a car is offered with 4-speed auto + overdrive, OR a 5-speed manual, that means 5th gear/overdrive = same thing.
