It's terrible how they treated you.That's just wrong, to turn on your own kind like that. Cruel and mean on SO many levels. I could never have the guts to come out to my family like you did. My mother would be supportive, but my other family (one side strict christian, the other side half Mormon half strict christian) would not be as accepting (especially my abusive father (doesn't live with me)). My friends (in and out of GSA) would accept me though, so I'm glad for that.

@Halowillmurderu I came out to my mom February of this year and im ninth grade. I think that they might be either upset or angry at first, but then.. They kind of get over it and everything gets better. I wouldnt advice telling them until your older though.. It makes things easier.

I'm not going to say much, but what I will say is that not everyone is like that. For me when I came out to my friends I was in my sophmore year in college. Then all of my friends were excepting of me. Some of the people who help watch me and take care of me from middle school (Not a lot of people) I told them and they were actually just waiting for me to say something. The best thing I heard them say was that they didn't care. I have yet to tell me intermediate family. I'm waiting for that one.

i recently came out Bi to my mum she just pretended she didnt care untill she took me to a psychiatrist because of it, on our first meeting they wanted to refer her to "a higher influence" and i was released.... SCORE ^~^
I picked an even worse time to come out: my mom's birthday. I gave her a book, Now That You Know. I was lucky, my mother was very supportive. She'd record stuff for me from PBS. I hate to say this, but I was embarrassed about how supportive she was. I think everyone's experience will differ but I believe it's better if you come out as soon as you know for sure. Life might not be pleasant afterwards, but at least it's honest. It'll be worse if you lie to yourself.

God knows how this happened but when I came out as gay, not only did my friends stand by me, but I made more friends. I go to an all boys school (Grammar albeit); logic tells you I'd be socially dead. There were bulles of course, and sometimes it got too much, but once I'd gotten through that I felt so much stronger. I am so lucky, I can't forget that. To everyone struggling with people treating you like that, just keep strong. When it's over, you will feel... amazing :D

I'm not going to say much, but what I will say is that not everyone is like that. For me when I came out to my friends I was in my sophmore year in college. Then all of my friends were excepting of me. Some of the people who help watch me and take care of me from middle school (Not a lot of people) I told them and they were actually just waiting for me to say something. The best thing I heard them say was that they didn't care. I have yet to tell me intermediate family. I'm waiting for that one.

I picked an even worse time to come out: my mom's birthday. I gave her a book, Now That You Know. I was lucky, my mother was very supportive. She'd record stuff for me from PBS. I hate to say this, but I was embarrassed about how supportive she was. I think everyone's experience will differ but I believe it's better if you come out as soon as you know for sure. Life might not be pleasant afterwards, but at least it's honest. It'll be worse if you lie to yourself.

I want to say though... high school is nothing special. Everyone's so worried about who people think they are, and so people are dishonest about themselves. It's just a weird time and there's so much cultural policing it's gross.
Everyone sorta knew I was queer, but I just hung out on the fringes with a few close friends and left it at that. It sucked kind of, but for different reasons. I'm glad things improved for you too.

God knows how this happened but when I came out as gay, not only did my friends stand by me, but I made more friends. I go to an all boys school (Grammar albeit); logic tells you I'd be socially dead. There were bulles of course, and sometimes it got too much, but once I'd gotten through that I felt so much stronger. I am so lucky, I can't forget that. To everyone struggling with people treating you like that, just keep strong. When it's over, you will feel... amazing :D

However, this is the first video i've came across where there was a negative affect when coming out. Although, I am surprised u graduated HS early, i'm proud of u that u made it through.
