And james felt as tho he needed to be punished for it, thus creating Pyramid heads gaol, to kill james as a punishment. Now when he accepted what he had done Pyramid head no longer had a role to play in silent hill (to kill james) Thus they kill themselves, freeing themsleves of there roles.

A friend was watching me play it and being the first time I've played it, I didn't know what to expect. We then see this scene happen, and I was just shocked. I sat there, barely holding onto the controller with my mouth open, not sure what the hell to do. My friend was just as shocked too.
I ran to the door and it being locked I didn't know what to do. I was very nervous to get the eggs from PH's hands. But as I did, my friend suggested I kick the spears to knock them over lol.
According to Wikipedia, it's because they found it impossible to kill James, and thusly just felt compelled to give up. Which of course means suicide.
@DannerstheMuffin i read that when james challenged the pyrimid heads, he was repenting for killing the one girl so they commited suicide to show that he forgave himself for her death.

silent hill 2 is the best horror/scary/drama/whatever fits-you name it game ever in this world. tight storyline, strong scripts, best gameplay,..wow, i think even girls would love this game, at least affectionated by the storyline. anyone agree?

Silent Hill 2 was developed by Konami. They made a masterpiece and thought that game through very well.
Silent Hill Homecoming is made by an American company, which probably just wanted to make some references to the earlier Silent Hill games. Don't put too much interpretation in Silent Hill Homecoming.

That is more than true. You can tell because of one thing. They stole Alex's otherworld design from the movie. In Silent Hill 2, James' was rusty and water-damaged, each main character had a different otherworld. For example, Angela's was hot and firey, like hell. In the movie, it was flesh peeling from the walls, they stole that design and threw it upon Alex. Only Team Silent know how to make an SH game.
Because James finally excepted his guilt for killing Mary, and since the Pyramid Head's "JOB" was to keep torturing James about it, they no longer had a purpose.
when James has the courage to face the terrible deed he has done to the past instead of running from it, the P.H's mission was complete then all they have to do is to battle James, and see if he can survive from their attacks for a few minutes, thats why they killed themselves that James faced up to his deed from the past

There's another video that shows how the Maria boss will eventually die without taking a single hit. I believe it's for the same reason: they become weak without James's repressed feelings sustaining them.
The Maria boss dying without being hit could also be a reference to Mary/Maria's illness, since in the "Maria" ending,she coughs when she and James leave, showing that she's sick too.

I don't know if this is true, but I think yours was wrong because Maria died 3 times already.
is it just my screen, or does every screen just show up too dark to notice anything? it's always that way with survival horror games for me. clock tower, resident evil, etc... maybe it's because of their dark atmosphere and stuff. ^__^
i used to have the same problem. have you adjusted the brightness settings? it may just be set too dark. or, if that doesn't work, it may be the actual screen; i personally got a new monitor, and now i see things crystal clear, and considerably brighter.
They killed themselves. You know before when James said he needed them to punish him for his sins? The constant killing of Maria was the punishment, and it brought James sadness w/e shit like that. The Red Pyramids were satisfied, thus their role was fulfilled and they killed themselves. They were both the Punisher and the Victim, if that makes sense *shrug*
They drove the spear tips into the floor to make holes, then flipped the spears around and wedged them into the holes, then slammed their heads down into the spears.
Ya know what sucks most? You don't even have to hurt the f*ckers! They'll automatically kill themselves whether you hit 'em with the lead pipe or shoot 'em with a gun. Just run around and around, trying to stay alive, and they'll just stop and die. What kind of f*ckin' trick is that!?!
They existed because James admitted he needed them because of his own guilt, but he announced he no longer needed them, that's when his guns began to inflict injury to them. I guess they felt they were no longer needed, and killed themselves.
Geez, that's just wrong! Heard on the Silent Hill DVD that the original ending was supposed to have 8 pyramids killing everybody but then they changed it to psych-barbed wires.

i used to have the same problem. have you adjusted the brightness settings? it may just be set too dark. or, if that doesn't work, it may be the actual screen; i personally got a new monitor, and now i see things crystal clear, and considerably brighter.

They killed themselves. You know before when James said he needed them to punish him for his sins? The constant killing of Maria was the punishment, and it brought James sadness w/e shit like that. The Red Pyramids were satisfied, thus their role was fulfilled and they killed themselves. They were both the Punisher and the Victim, if that makes sense *shrug*

Ya know what sucks most? You don't even have to hurt the f*ckers! They'll automatically kill themselves whether you hit 'em with the lead pipe or shoot 'em with a gun. Just run around and around, trying to stay alive, and they'll just stop and die. What kind of f*ckin' trick is that!?!

They existed because James admitted he needed them because of his own guilt, but he announced he no longer needed them, that's when his guns began to inflict injury to them. I guess they felt they were no longer needed, and killed themselves.
