lol... it funny how the simple thing like reseting settings for the ps3 can work... if this vid wasnt here you could simply contact customer service for ps3 and tell them your problem... this method is used many times. once you call them, no matter what the problem is (unless you spilt tea on your ps3 etc.) they will tell you to do this procedure. so umm, its not rly a miracle but oh well... im glad someone posted it on youtube to help those who cant be bothered to pick up the phone and call ps3

It didn't work for me but anyways this is how you do it:

1.Turn you system off

2.Hold it down power button untill it shuts off

3.Hold the button again untill you hear 3 beeps and you will see menu.

@gbemigamac put the standard def red/white/yellow cables in and hold down the power till you here TWO beeps. it will reset the display settings to standard definition and you should see it.

if that doesnt work its either the chords your using or your ps3s ability to display picture.

if your getting sound but not picture its probably just the cables your using or possibly your tv

@wy1986 Well first i wiped off all the dust of the HDD (i dont't really think that helped but it's worth a try), then i used recovery menu option 3, it still gave me the RSOD, then i used option 5, then i had to set all the options (the ones you have to set when you just got it too) and then it worked again :) but all the data was wiped off the HDD :( I hope yours will work again soon

this will work, I found it is also linked to overheating, so i take out all cables, gently move the ps3 to somewhere cooler and vibration free, leave it 5 minutes, and then plug it all back in.

I have had black screen twice on a slim, and brought it back from the dead.
