  • This war was not about stealing land. The Anglos who had moved to Texas were perfectly happy living as Mexican citizens under their Constitution, until Santa Anna became a dictator and usurped the constitution. This war was a politcal freedom revolution, just as the American Revolution was. Several northern Mexican states also revolted, but were quickly put down as Santa Anna marched north. Many native Mexicans fought on the Texicans' side at the Alamo, most have counties named after them

  • I love this actor as Davy Crockett !!!

  • Since space aliens were the first inhabitents here on Earth then the spanish or Indians techically stole the land from them. Last I heard the aliens are gearing up in thier tunnels around Dulce for a final battle against humans that will make the Alamo look like childs play. San Antonio residents be prepared. Space alien conspirist's have given you fair warning.

  • Moment of silence.

  • Good Music, Good Movie

  • Sucj a beautiful thought that in a world filled with violence and hateful feelings that there is something that we all can enjoy and that it can bring peace, even if it is only for a short while

  • i watched this in apush yesterday, & wow.. the pwr of music, & that night was the most peacful night theyve had in the alamo, & i also had band next period whicih made me fel great(: ... all those ppl, so sad.

  • I'll never know why so many critics hated this movie. Thorton did a fantastic jb as Crockett. He made him into a real character instead of just charicature of crocket. This scene in particular struck me as very moving. It reminds me of the Christmas truce in World War 1 where both sides realize, if only for one night, that they can live with each other and they see the innocence that they've lost through the fighting.

  • Slavery was so successfully introduced in Texas for these inmigrants, that they defend it in the American Civil War 30 years later, right? Historic facts not always are what governments tell us in books. Santa Anna was a dictator sick of glory, and these new Texans were fighting for their freedom (to have slaves working this land, as they did).....All these facts are in the Bill of Rights or "Constitution" of Mexico from 1821, and in Texan from 1936. Isn´t really easy to understand this war?

  • • Before 1810, Spain let some inmigrants from USA to stablish in Texas as inmigrants, the land properties were huge, but this inmigrants wanted to bring slaves from Africa ( like all USA Southern States, where they came from). Slavery was forbidden when Mexico got independent in 1821, and Texas was part of Mexico. So this inmigrants understood that if they wanted to bring back slavery, being part of Mexico would be impossible. When Texas became independent in 1836 slavery started.

  • We had to watch this in my US History class, and for most of the movie I didn't pay attention at all, but when I heard that violin start in, I was glued to the screen. It's so... I don't even know. I just absolutely love it.

  • @haileebot

I personally think that the filmmakers did a great job of showing all the divided loyalties and motivations of those participants in that pivotal fight in our country's thoroughly messy history. What really hits me is the performance of Billy Bob as Rep. Crockett. He does a great job of showing a man who gets absolutely sick when he sees bloodshed and killing. Then, later on, he tells us why...

That awful story he tells is true. I often wonder what it tasted like...

  • A man from another country said there was widespread homosexuality at the Alamo.

    Is this a fallacy?

  • @Ariel62073

If that was the case then those involved were all French

  • @argyll1854 haha 1+ ! ;)

  • back then if u were 13 in mexico they will put u in the army sometimes

  • the mexicans have good drum beats and good trumpet sounds

  • Best Alamo film ever and wasn't Billy Bob Thornton magnificent as Davy Crocket. His Deguello on the violin was oh so moving.

  • I saw this movie on TV today. It's not a bad film (the acting is great and everything), but $145 million?! Where the hell did all that money go? $145 million oughta create spectacular, awe-inspiring scenes, but there's nothing in this movie that wouldn't look out of place in a low-budget made-for-TV movie!

  • @vulnerabledonkey I think most of that money went to creating the set. Mainly the Alamo.

  • @MRfirewolf5 Seriously? I mean, the Alamo set looked good, but not millions of dollars worth of good. Damn. They must have had some pretty inefficient set-builders!

  • @vulnerabledonkey well that's the only explanation I can think of. Unless the cast, clothes, and weapons cost something.

  • @MRfirewolf5 Even considering the cost the of the set, cast, filming equipment and props, $145 million seems excessive. The only explanation I can come up with is that there were some serious fuck-ups (and a lot of corruption and inefficiency) during production.

It's a shame really. The movie itself isn't half bad, it just needed someone who might have managed the budget more effectively.

  • @vulnerabledonkey Cost? Unions will kill a film budget. Why do you think they shot the entire Open Range film in Canada?

  • And obviously, the overall "which side was right" viewpoint is going to be wildly biased, but that's just reality; one man's freedom-fighter is another man's terrorist. The Mexican's saw the Texan's as stealing their land, and the Texan's saw the Mexicans as stealing their freedom. Neither side was "right." And for those thinking the U.S. stole Mexican land... Where do you think the Mexicans got it from? They stole it themselves. The Spanish stole it from the natives, then WE stole it from them.

  • @Russell218 the only difference is that WE Mexicans are half Spanish and half natives like Aztecs Mayayns

  • @chitown1051 LMAO! The Spanish invaded the lands of the Aztec and Mayans and whiped out a great civilization. Trying to claim heritage to both is hilarious.

  • @Qthematrixxxx The Spanish did not wipe out all Native Mexicans. There were several tribes that allied with the Spanish during their invasion. Hell, Cortez himself is said to be the father of the first "Mexican."

  • @Russell218 You are right but we must also ALL remember that when the pilgrims and such from the now modern day UK migrated here to the USA THEY also stole the land from the Indians.

  • @Russell218 The MAIN reason that Texas fought was to KEEP THEIR SLAVES! the Mexicans banned the owning of slaves and they would allow slaves to escape. Since farmaing was how the texans earned their living they fought to keep their property/slaves. This " taxes are why we fought crap Is false... First, The Texans were told BEFORE relocating about the taxes (which they never payed) And they were also told they had to mix with Mexicans to increase their populations, But they ignored these Laws.

  • @Russell218

    That's about it.

  • @pinz2022

Capt. Juan Seguin's portrayal was especially poignant. The tejanos were the unsung heroes here. His dad, Ernesto, had to abandon his hacienda and flee south after the war because the texians were accusing him of treason and threatening his life. This, after he supplied cattle and grain to Houston's army. He went through some ups and downs but he died wealthy.

  • @Russell218 couldn't have phrased it better myself

  • @Russell218 The Mexican government was actively encouraging settlers to come to Texas which was not widely populated at the time. However, once there began to be too many American settlers began to occupy the Mexican territory, the government began enacting laws meant to stop immigration and conform the new immigrants. This angered the Texans who came West in search of greater freedom in the first place which led inevitably to the Texas Revolution.

  • @Russell218 To the victors, go the spoils! That is how it is.....

  • Anyone who thinks this movie was historically inaccurate simply needs to brush up on their history. It is, quite simply, AMAZINGLY accurate, down to the individual characters and their interpersonal drama.

  • Does anyone know what the Spanish soldier is saying? Sounds like "quero que" or "quiero que," but that doesn't really make sense cause that'd mean something along the lines of "I want that"... I figure he's saying something like "how about that" but I can't make it out.

  • Why the fuck is there fighting on this video? Can you all just shut the fuck up and appreciate the fact that these men stood up agaiinst a force far greater and powerful then their own and fought for what is now a Great state and stood against a tyrant not loved even by his own kind

  • @ItNice26, don't even try to compare Gods and Generals. G&G had a poor script and poor direction. This version of the Alamo was a great movie. This scene really puts the perspective of the clashing cultures during Texan Independence. I was sort of shocked they didn't include the incident at Gonzales immediately after the Alamo though. I really felt like I got to know these men. I think it was a great merger of hollywood and history. It's a shame the critiques didn't like it.

  • lol to who put this vid if yu think its just get over it then dam yur far from history but nobody should be fighting bout it anymore for real thats why so many people died in that war n whatever you ppl say texas was the first to fight together as a country mexicans whites and blacks all together for freedom ...n if your from texas n hate this movie how dare you call yourself a TEXAN get the fuk out of our state

  • Dam that war sucked. In my point of view there is no good side or bad side. The Texans were figthing for freedom and what they belived in and the mexicans where just protecting their country like anyone in uniform would.

  • Lol i just saw the Alamo on TV and i LOVEDDDDD this scene, so beautiful. Best part no doubt. Funny, i just had to see it again, i come to Youtube, i type in The Alamo, and this is the first vid that shows! LOL

  • 35 people don't know 'bout Texas!

  • orale wats wrong with being a texan ehhh lots a pride and culture here super diverse. mexicans (not racist im one too) just lost the war too bad

  • i learned to play this on my fiddle doesnt sound as good but its there lol

  • @AztecPrince95 Princess you would change your mind if you saw Federales swarming over an Indian village during the Yaqui Wars. The Seri tribe blood enemies- received government bounty for Yaqui hands. Who did the Yaqui cross into Arizona to seek refuge with? The Yanks. Before you condemn this as "pure lies" why don't you visit Arizona and interview the Yaqui during their Deer Dance festival and Baile Matachina?

  • @AztecPrince95 fuck you bitch.. the aztec's didnt even have princes you fuckin douche.

  • The John wayne version can't hold a candle to this.

  • the movie should have gotten more credit. it's sad that the producers used more money to film the movie than it earned. although not everything is accurate, but this event really happened. watching the movie gave me goosebumps knowing that the texans fought til the end even thought they were outnumbered. the actors were good too! D:<

  • This is awesome! It sends chills up your spine.

  • Great !! Manuel "Loco" Valdes as Davy Crockett, very good performance.

  • Billy Bob was born to play davy Crocket! I loved this movie.

  • Honor among rivals, Best thing to see in battle

  • gotta love americans getting raped

  • @ricie4, Gotta love the mexicans getting their ases handed to them over and over to this day.

  • @civilwarboy1134 im not either

  • I would like you to understand texas is not a stupid state. For Example

    -Nasa (Space Center Houston)

-Houston's Museum of Natural Science is on the top 10 most popular science museums in America

    -Great medical center in houston

-Austin is the live music capitol of the world

    - University of Texas has one of the most prestigious medical schools in America

    - From my experience of living in texas the people there are very friendly, open, and welcoming.

you cant assume an entire population is dumb.

  • @romansoldierofhonor Dude, shut up. NOT HELPING YOUR DAMN CAUSE ANY!

  • If Santa Anna marched passed the Alamo without fighting its defenders he would of had a much better chance of defeating the Texans.

  • FUCK YEAH

  • the fact that this movie lost money is sad. One of the best battle scenes ever

  • slit throat plus a cunt lick compliments of davy boy crockett

  • @williamblair11

Please don't respond to me anymore I thought you were a male. Now I kwow your secret!

  • The Alamo doesn't stir hearts because of right and wrong, it's stirs hearts because of courage. Even if you feel strongly on the other side of this issue, if you can respect courage, then it can only ennoble you.

  • @tikletik

Many of Alamo defenders ran. The last stand is mostly MYTH!

  • @tikletik

If the myth were true I could buy that but it is allllllllllllllllllllll false!

  • @Deguello321 That's ok though, because that's kind of addressed in the movie. David Crockett didn't do half the shit people said he did, but people expected him to be the person they had heard the stories about. It's ok that this was made up about him too.

  • @Deguello321 lol go stuff your fat barrio rat lookin face with some dirty dog meat tacos and go shit and fart them out all over your your gay boyfriend's face.

  • @romansoldierofhonor

I love it when you racist scum bags reveal your true self. Stupid ignorant racist slimebag. Get a life you hateful bastard and paste a coonskin hat on your butt racist FILTH

  • all the alamo are belog to us

  • Davy Crockett was absolutely amazing in the Battle of the alamo, damn translator Practically killed him. And did anyone see the look on seguin's face after promising to burry all bodies at the alamo like "oh shit" haha Loved this movie<3

  • In this movie, the strange thing is that all the defenders of the Alamo were killed during the final attack of Mexicans. Nobody of them was killed during the earlier 12 days of the seige. Anyway, it's an excellent movie

  • @ThePalnik That's true. No defenders were killed prior to the final assault.

  • @ThePalnik

Bull, the Alamostory is mostly fiction

  • @Deguello321 I suspect your the kind of guy that would'a ran away screaming for your mammy at the Alamo...Or in any other war for that matter.Davie C wouldve kicked your ass then hanged you for desertion you troll fag!!!!!

  • @romansoldierofhonor

Get a Hitler mustache and paste it to your idiot ass-suck ass brown noser and have a taco on me you worthless racist piece of shit

  • The only reason The Alamo is so well known is because Santa Anna killed everybody..What Santa Anna never realised is that human kind loves a story about martyr's.If the Texians were still defeated at the Alamo but taken prisoner or let go at the end of the battle ,The Alamo would just be a small footnote in history.

  • @williamblair11 i highly doubt it

  • @williamblair11 no it wouldnt im fromm texas and the story of the alamo is close to my heart. we would have still remembered it and we would have still honored every single man that died at the alamo.

  • @williamblair11

I disagree. A small army of only hundreds of Texans was able to hold off an army of thousands of Mexicans :/

Then you could also take into consideration that Davy Crockett and James Bowie, two famous men were also fighting at the Alamo. I think this would have been well known anyways, though perhaps not as known as it is.

  • @williamblair11

Those racist slave owning bastards at the Alamo deserved to die

  • Davy Crockett <3 :DD

  • i liked the movie, and the clip...awesome

  • I love this song and the movie and i just want to kick that Mexican generals ass when i see the movie, its because of people like him that latin america is like it is. Remember the Alamo!

  • This was an awesome movie. Fuck the shitheaded critics.

  • @DrumKiller2 you fukkin A

  • @DrumKiller2 LOL! Critics don't know their thumbs from their dicks. Look at the movies that are " critically acclaimed" and win Best Picture. Historically inaccurate, sanitized garbage. Usually politically correct, hypersexualized, fictional minutia that you take nothing away from. Just stupid entertainment for the typical dumbed down, mainstream liberal idiot. Fuck Hollywood, fuck critics. If Ebert and Roeper give it 2 thumbs up, or if Peter Travers recommends it, I check it off my list.

  • @ItNice26 people dont watch movies cause they want to learn historical facts. They want to be entertained. If I wanted to KNOW what Really happend i'd watch the History channel (which i Do). When I watch a movie i dont want just cold hard facts cause, lets face it the Truth about what Really happens isnt always Fun to hear or watch. and i'm not Paying $10 on a "movie" ticket for a fucking 2 hour history lesson. This way not only are we Leaning some what, but we're also being entertained as well.

  • @SneakyPete8129 Why would you pay 10 dollars on movie ticket to watch a lame love story, or pseudo science fiction nonsense, or a far fetched action flick with no grasp on reality? Most movie goers are by and large brain dead, and some people do have an enormous interest in history and they enjoy watching movies with at least some historical reference. But many people don't and that's fine. I guess that explains why most Americans can't tell you who the first five presidents were.

  • its obvious youre a history buff so not even gonna go there. but i try to find the best deal which most often means seeing the movie at midnight for like $5, but normal tickets do cost $9.50. seriously dont condemn the rest of the world for wanting to be entertained rather than to just learn day in and day out. maybe your right or maybe youre wrong. So what? just cause You dont see the point in paying to see an unrealistic unbelievable movie doesnt mean everyone else are some mindless zombies.

  • @SneakyPete8129 No, not everyone else. Just most frequent movie goers are dumbed down. I am just sick of seeing critics pummel movies like this because they say it is too historically based, or it is too accurate and historically motivated. That's what history buffs want to see in movies. They said the same shit about Gods and Generals. It was a great movie, but critics bashed it, because they said it was too history based.

Well, HELLO, it's a Civil War movie. Do you want Maxwell to make it up?

  • @ItNice26 Indeed. I mean to get to San Pasqual and Valverde Pass, sometime . . .

  • Many were also American Natives at the alamo and Tejanos..... Most do not know Texas history or Mexican History .. Same people believe there was no holocaust too..

  • I actually prefer this v ersion over the John Wayne version. And I used to be a big John Wayne fan.

  • @leeannstubbs

But is there any actual evidence that former congressman, David Crockett, (TN) actually played the fiddle?

  • Please! only 32 people in the alamo are colonists, the others were mercenary and North American soldiers, figth from liberty????yeah sure...

  • @ELViejito100 You know little Mexican or Texas history. your ignorance is showing.

  • sam houston said: Let's leave that massacre these heroic heroic advocates of ours convinced in his patriotism. His death will be the flag with which we will exercise a massive, revenge furious and well-taken.

    REMEMBER THE ALAMOO!

Dont matter how the shools say whit this thing of the alamo was from liberty and that shit, this was only another thieft to mexico, later it would continue the war mexico-usa.

  • best scene ever

  • The De La Pena diary is kind of shady. The guy had really good sight, he could identify people before dawn and see over walls. It's really amazing how he was running in and out of the battle right up in the middle of it and not get wounded. Some of it seems to have merit while other parts appear fabricated. It was made from scrap paper cut to size I believe. We ended up purchasing the land anyway.

  • A Time To Stand by Walter Lord has a piece in it about two men that had shown up in Nacadoches that claimed to have survived the battle. The story was in The Arkansas Gazette on March 29, 1836 The item appeared the week before the Gazette carried Houston's "express reporting" of the defeat. Henry Warnell supposedly escaped to Port Lavaca where he died in less than three months from his wounds. General Land Office, Court Of Claims Application No. 1579, File W to Z, July 30, 1858.

  • Deguello means slit throat you do know that right?

  • this is for all you patriots who cry over what was done at the Alamo. try and think of it if the mexicans did to us what we did to them. north americans flooded texas promising to be obediant mexican citizens...just like the mexicans pour over our borders today. suppose they took objection to something washington ordered, some law or laws, and then took over a state. what if we sent the national guard or regular army to dislodge them and they held out for 15 days...would we be praising them?

  • @alf4ed69 Your history is a little suspect. Mexico could not get Texas settled and therefore they invited Americans from all over to come to Texas with the promise of a Constitutional Republic that was established in 1824 and Santa Anna disregarded. These men and women who came to Texas, pledged to live under that constitution as free people and were greeted with tyranny.

  • @alf4ed69 But you won't and that's the difference.

  • @alf4ed69 Crying? Who is LaRaza?

  • I watched this movie for a history class not too long ago and I personally think it should've been much more popular for what it is, they had it almost all politically correct, and for that I'll shed disney a little respect.

  • This music is beautiful. I play it sometimes as an alarm to wake up to. Great Stuff! Thanks.

  • Its all over for Texans. The untermenschen are outbreeding them.

  • @homerp68 hey where do you get your info at?

  • For the history interested, demographics of the men fighting at Alamo: AMERICANS Alabama 3 Maryland 1 Pennsylvania 14 Arkansas 2 Missouri 6 Rhode Island 1 Connecticut 1 Mississippi 3 South Carolina 7 Georgia 5 North Carolina 7 Tennessee 30 Illinois 1 New Hampshire 1 Texas 11 Kentucky 15 New Jersey 1 Virginia 12 Louisiana 4 New York 6 Vermont 1 Massachusetts 4 Ohio 4 Unknown 20 EUROPEANS Denmark 1 Germany 2 Scotland 4 England 12 Ireland 9 Wales 1
  • @Homerp68

I wonder why the nine irish ones did not strangled the 12 british ones or viceversa.

  • @Homerp68

I visited the Alamo quite abfew years back and there is 11 names mentioned on a Plaque dedicated to the Scots who were there, now wheteher they fought or left before the main battle i dont know but i presume they were there

  • @argyll1854 The Scots and the Irish were there until the very end. For that we commemorate their names on a plaque inside the Alamo. When a man enters the Alamo he removes his hat out of respect for what men from 36 nations did in the name of freedom for those 13 days in February and March 1836. There were 180 men at the Alamo all but one stayed and one (Juan Seguin) was dispatched with the famous letter from Travis to Sam Houston. So 178 out of the 180 men died at the Alamo.

  • @spanky061970 who was the other survivor apart from seguin? cos u said 178 out of 180

  • @ivaflimkien Lewis Rose is the only man who left the Alamo when Col. Travis drew his line in the sand. Seguin was sent with a letter from Travis to Sam Houston. He wanted to return to the Alamo but Houston ordered him to stay with his troops and help train that army.

  • @spanky061970 and there werent any previous desertions, maybe casualties in previous bombardment, or survivors from the mexican assault? im asking here cos when i check on sites, the numbers and casualties seem to differ all the time...

  • @ivaflimkien Jim Bowie was injured before the final assault but remained in the barracks until the final assault and was killed by the Mexican army. The only survivors, according to official records at the Alamo, were the women and children who were shown quarter by Santa Anna. As for previous desertions there is a story about two slaves that were set free by Bowie, One left while the other stayed. But that I can not confirm.

  • @spanky061970

    Cheers for the info Spanky

  • @argyll1854

If it was Scots and Irish then they would have respected each other, Celtic Nations etc

  • @argyll1854 Us scots always stand are ground its in are blood.

  • Schooled
