  • This was THE song for Smooth Jazz radio. To all of the responses of the loss of Smooth Jazz stations across the country; I sympathize with you. Here in Chicago, we lost WNUA 95.5 back in May 2009 and it was the saddest day in the city. Smooth Jazz somewhat came back with 87.7 FM and they play more Pop/R&B/Rock than they do Smooth Jazz and it is a shame. May Smooth Jazz forever live!

  • 4 people had a bad experience stuck in an elevator

  • it's true CD 101.9 played real feel good music. I was hurt when they left. Smooth jazz needs to make a comeback.

  • Smooth!!!

  • It's official. 4 people have to die.

  • @noneseriously they dont know real music

  • Now this is my favorite smooth jazz song. I first heard this in 1997. If I dont feel comfortable then I just listen to smooth jazz through out the day. ;)

  • I Remember this when i was a kid i would play this on my piano and i never knew who made the song now I do lol.... check my site

  • Besides, this is one of those gorgeous "summertime-during-the-evening-hours" tracks! This...........and "Daylight" by RAMP and "Summer Madness" by Kool and The Gang.

  • THEY HAD TO MESS UP CD 101.9 HERE IN NEW YORK CITY!! WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER "NEWS" STATION! BRING MODERN JAZZ BACK TO NEW YORK CITY!!

  • Go to smoothjazznetwork(dot)com - they always have a live stream goin.

  • love love love :)

  • Love this song!

  • i love this song they used to have it on 105.7 the oasis but now that station is r&b (not that i have a problem that) :P

  • augusta ga, 92.3 smooth jazz.

  • Haven't heard this song since 1998...my mom used to play this bak in the day

  • Music to my ears!!!!!! The essence of smooth jazz guitar.

  • I LOVE DIS SONG VERY NICE JUST NOW HEARING IT AND I PLAYED IT 25 TIME TODAY VERY SMOOTH

  • Four years out this vid is still going strong--nice to see and hear it. You Tube videous are seldom (in my experience) this long lived.

I was the original poster in this thread, ranting (back then) about the RIAA. TImes change though. Today I would rant (generally) about our dwindling culture...and how YouTube might help to save it if it were able or willing to allow more liberal rules where copy and paste are concerned.

  • 94.7 the wave in los angeles. listen online.

  • really just wow...few songs manage to pull you in their atmosphere so quickly

  • Not all smooth jazz is gone folks, WHUR 96.3, D.C., Howard University. I first heard this on there when it first came out and they still play it from time-to-time. As someone said earlier, great to listen to when you are riding at night.

  • Man, they don't make music like this anymore.

  • frm col ohio they got r jazz stn also, but ok was whack anyway jazz fans can find all knda jzz on internet.

  • I just came !!!!!

  • @VIV123ish LOL nice to know!!! XD

  • This song is what real smooth jazz is all about! Definitely one of the best smooth jazz numbers there ever was!

  • 87.7 WLFM Chicago!

  • 98.9 KWJZ Seattle. How I miss it. :-(

  • high hat!!!

  • Reminds me of radio staion KBLX when it was a Cool Jazz spot. MAN, this is SMOOTH!

  • @eric2181965: there WAS a jazz station in Atlanta with the call letters WJZF in the 90's; good memory!!

  • @intojazznyc: they killed 107.5 WJZZ here in Atlanta as well.........bring smooth jazz stations back to the big apple AND the a-t-l!!!!!

  • @jdnightwing Atlanta still has the BEST jazz on 91.9 WCLK. They've been delivering the best non-mainstream jazz, soul and funk since the 70's. I listen daily; it gives me LIFE! :)

  • @SouthernGurl80 I totally agree with you. I listen to 91.9 all the time as well. I 'd just rather have two jazz stations programmed in my car as for just one, even though the one is 91.9.

  • So damn far ahead of his time. Undiluted genius...

  • this song reminds me of my early childhood in the streets of east Baltimore when times was good

  • WHUR 96.3, on the ride home. Thank you for posting this. Great album

  • Favorite smooth jazz tune of all time! Congrats Ronny!

  • after hours listening to Mr Ron is hella cool. Smooth Jazz by day, Smooth Jazz by night is dynamite and puts you in the groove just right... Ahhhh , a cup of Yerba Mate' a slice of Sicilian cream cheese cake and this, it is a kind of bliss.

    The 1 am groove yard....

  • smoothhhhhhhh

  • When they killed CD 101.9 it was one of the saddest day for NYC !

Bring a new smooth jazz station to the big apple please .......

  • @intojazznyc they killed my smooth jazz station in cleveland as well.....im never forgiving them 4 that lol

  • @intojazznyc I think you will find better jazz radios on the internet and they will bring you the sound no matter where your home is located.

  • @intojazznyc We lost KYOT 95.5 FM here in the Phx area so I feel your pain. The station still has the same calls but the format is more pop vs. Smooth Jazz.

  • @intojazznyc hey jazzy they killed all the jazz stations from coast to coast we lost 98.9 in Seattle the same way..no warning..and when i came home to Harlem last August wbls was cool, but i missed some wes montgomery to listen to while riding the Path train.

  • @lightbearer87 Not to mention droping CD101.9 without an apology! What do the young people got to look up to now, rap and garbage r&B? So disappointing!

  • @intojazznyc I mourn that loss everyday. And I never got to go on the Smooth Cruise!

  • @intojazznyc again, people trying to dumb down the minds of others, playing crap, instead of real music that makes people think!!!!! Long Live Smooth Jazz!!!!

  • @lafemmefidele

Iornicallly people in the Jazz world think Smooth Jazz is apart of the problem.

  • @intojazznyc ♫Smooth Jazz CD 101.9♫ Wait.... WHAT! They killed it? I moved from NYC to GA...(parents...) I used to listen to that station back when I was in kindergarten (I'm 18 now) (Thank You Dad!) I was always singing that little jingle their's no way they killed it...NO WAY!! :( IT Just can't be true T_T... WHY OH CRUEL WORLD!!!

  • this tune is like crack. can't stop playing it. i am addicted...

  • RONNY IS IT!!!!! AMAZING PHRASING...SMOOTH AND CLEAR AS A BELL!!! LOVE THIS GUY!!! THANKS RONNY!!!

  • is it wrong for me to love jazz? im asian.

    Race doesnt matter.its the passion....hopin u'll enjoy

  • @MrVictorishotandsexy ....SOME OF THE GREATEST JAZZ PLAYERS ARE ASIAN!!!

  • @MrVictorishotandsexy not at all. some of the best, most progressive jazz comes from Japan. One avant-garde group to check is Soil and Pimp Sessions....dope!

  • Now this is Music....

  • que bonita esta cancion. this is ronny's magnum opus, imo.

  • I always loved this song but never knew who the artist was... great song...

  • I LOVE ME SOME RONNIE JORDAN!!!!

  • I do my best work...After Hours ! :-)*~~~

  • Mr Prince knows all about this one!!! LOL

  • This Exact song was playing in my dads well-finished basement 16 years ago! His sound system was top notch, Klipsch everything!!! Good memories..........

  • I hate the name smooth jazz. People listen to it just to drink wine with it or get it on with their "special" person. To me that is so ignorant. That's certainly not respecting the music and musicians who made it! I listen to it because I like the music. I appreciate the melodies, the chords, the rhythms, the harmonies, but people seem to like it simply because it's smooth?! Come on people, it's music. GOOD music, not something you put on to make you feel high class.

  • @monkeys350 Well said

  • Try single women ***naneedj.info***

  • I used to hear this song all the time when my Dad took me to kindergarten, almost 13 years ago. Ha!

  • @CaptainCreature

Me too!!!! my dad was a huge fan of Ronny Jordan!

  • RONNY JORDAN IS PLAYING ALL OF THE INSTRUMENTS ON THIS SONG

  • @skinfanjay Is he really? How do you know?

  • @skinfanjay COOL!!!

  • I did this thing on my FB and asked my friends if they had to pick a song to describe them, what would it be. This is me, mellow, chill, and feeling good!

  • All I need now is a glass of wine, candles and my wife!!!!! Sooooo smooth!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hello: Mine was the very FIRST response to this video (several years and some 38 pages ago (according to my web-browser).

I haven't seen anything that would persuade me I was in any way "wrong" in my original assessment, either.

F-the RIAA, buy the music, and it should really all work out for everyone.

Just don't steal it. Not cool and not fair.

Pay the man who produced it...and the musician who sang it (and his band...and his record company...) for his work.

    Simple. And fair.

  • cant believe them coporate muthafuckas took off smooth jaz cd101.9 here in new york city, as wjjz 106.1 in philadelphia and other cities as well. it almost makes you think it was ap lan to shut down the smooth jazz stations because it was the only stations that played real music by free talented ARTIST. this music brings peace to the mind but now the illuminati is forcing you to listen to the chaotic music with nothing but sex, drugs, and violence. programming thre population yall

  • @JustGod7 I feel you bro, ur on point there. Its hapennin everywhere. but there´s only so much robot shit we can take. soon we´ll be be playing music on the streets with live instruments on a natural vibe. peace luve and unity

  • I'm hearing this a a "power piece" rather than a smooth jazz piece...but its stilll great

This one is my own "waning hours--late night" track of choice..and I'm grateful for it.

"Love on a real train" (from Risky Business) otherwise, I think.

  • i like....

  • Tough tune.

  • too hip...Rj is a beautiful thing...

  • ahhh...one of my favorite cuts ever...first time i heard it...i thought "wes montgomery...only greasier"....ronnie is very very cool.

    om

    vid

  • Damn, this was great the instant I heard in '93 and its melody has remained etched in my brain since.

    Thanks for posting.

RJ is perhaps underrated and unknown for his incredible talent.

  • It's so good to hear some smooth jazz again. I spent the good majority of my childhood listening to stuff just like this, and I loved every second of it. I got into Hip-Hop music later on, but I never stopped listening to smooth jazz.

This song actually makes me miss my own local jazz station. Ever since we lost 107.5 WJZZ out here in Atlanta, It's been very hard to find good ol' fashioned smooth jazz on the radio. Oh well. I guess there's always satellite radio.

  • @SoniQ15 Yeah I know what you mean. They also took away 103.7 KKSF in San Fransico...

  • @IRON5 i know. i live in sf and i was mad when they took kksf away. i remember tuning in to the station to hear smooth jazz as i went to bed. instead all i heard was born to be wild and some other crappy rock music.

  • Love this song, my favorite cruiz'n song, smooth jazz!!!!

  • An extremely well-titled album.

  • i enjoy smooth jazz. Ronnie is the greatest and his music is an antidote.....yes...

  • nasty704 hit in on the head! texturized jazz for sure - Mr. Jordan is the grooooove!

  • YEEEEEEES!!! I've BEEN LOOKIN 4 THIS 4 A WHILE!, ever since CD 101.9, got off air. Thanx A LOT 2 my friend Sam Fodjo!!!

  • Man I always wondered what this composition was called and I just stumbled across this glad I did. It should be called the "Sound of Perfection." ( ^:

  • This is one of my most favorite jazz songs EVER!!

  • Sunday morning music....

  • This is Texturized Jazz right here....

  • My favorite jazz song....

  • Absolute cool. All I need is a double dirty martini,a fine cigar, and a corner booth in the smoker's lounge with Ronny Jordan playing on stage.

  • @unxxxpcted That says it ALL ........

  • @unxxxpcted I've got to try a "Double Dirty'"

  • THIS IS REAL ACID JAZZ!!!!

  • so rich in musical texture

  • ええわ〜きもちええわ〜

  • I've been trying to find this song for years but I could not for the life of me find the name of this song. Thank u 4 posting. I'm in love with this song.

    Yea...good times

  • @mattyqtip we still have KYOT 95.5FM here in the Phoenix area that is also Smooth Jazz. :)

  • 5:07-5:12 is strait awesome how he did that

  • I Grew Up In The 90's Listening To Gangster Rap, But Now...... I'm Listening To Jazz. One.

  • @khmerchildkills Lol, glad you came over to our side. I also grew up in the 90's I started listening to smooth jazz when I was 12-13 back in 1993. I remember listening to this song in the 6th grade while playing Wolfenstein 3d on my fathers 486 computer lol.

  • @khmerchildkills -If that's the case then you might remember when Compton's Most Wanted sampled this song for "You's a Bitch." It's on the album, Music to Drive by.

  • @khmerchildkills yeah me too, i use to listen to every category of rap and r&b and alittle jazz. They shutdown the only jazz station on the radio, so i began making my own jazz mixes and this song was on my first mix. I'm a jazz head now, The rap doesn't appeal anymore, just niggers bragging about there false liestyles. They know who's really hating on them, and that's the people who know the truth about the industry.

  • @khmerchildkills Jazz music was always apart of my life growing up when I was young one of my older brothers got me started listening to WBLS 107.5 in NYC

  • @dal4018 One of the FEW things I liked about Wash DC while growing up there in the 1960's-70's was the mother lode of music played on the radio (WGTB, WHFS, WHUR, etc.).

  • @Bearhawke42 Lucky you Bearhawke having access to all that music!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @khmerchildkills

This is 'acid jazz' (a horrible name for such a beautiful gere of music, makes it sound like some type of wierd dance music genre).

It is basicly the middle ground between hip hop and jazz, this sounds very differnt to true jazz which i also love but i really can not stand the drum patterns.

Maybe thats why you like this so much? It's defionetly the case with me! I listen to nothing but hip hop yet i have dicovered acid jazz and i love it!

  • @ceetheproducer

I avoided this genere before simply because it was called ACID jazz if only had i know it was those hip hop drum patterns i so love mixed with those lovely jazz riffs and blues scale improvs that i often sample.

If this genre was called somthing relavent like URBAN JAZZ or somthing i wouldn't of avoided it, the word ACID is just so synonymous with drugs and crappy rave music.

Some acid jazz groups do wierd electro sh!t but most barely fit into the catogory of acid jazz.
