  • whats better to Do Over The Road Or A Dedicated Account

  • @Mrsinnizterdatrucker depends on what you need. If you need to be home having children, or need to be home frequently, then you would probably want a local job. If you just want to ride, and do very minimal physical work, then over the road is for you.. most local jobs involve a lot of hands-on freight, or a lot of manual labor..

  • @Mrsinnizterdatrucker I like over the road more. local jobs tend to have you working, then go home, shower, eat, then off to bed, then right back at work. I don't like that rotation. I like working at my pace. Run, then relax as long as i want to..

  • Get Video I'm starting truck school september how fast was you going

  • they good engines if you power that engine out then you dont know how to drive and shouldnt be driving in mountains

  • @Bigdanielish the key to pulling with a detroit deisel is having the tranny in the right gear for the climb, and the horsepower set to max.. but that equals TERRIBLE fuel economy, as this truck had..

  • Wow. Nice video. My Dad owns a tractor-trailer repair shop off I-77 in Princeton WV and he does road calls around this area. I LOVE Fancy Gap, as long as it isn't windy. =P Very scenic drive.

Once again, awesome vid. I have a certain respect for truckers thanks to my dad. =)

  • Nice driving man!

    Hammer Down!

    Great video!!!!!!!!

  • @fontshil thanks

  • You must have been empty, you was eating that mountain up.

  • @5:17 why is there a man carrying 2 bags along the side of the road?

  • the road stripes are to fat.. LOL

  • MORON!

  • the truckers used to really have problems going down (south) on U.S. 52 on Fancy Gap before I-77 was built.

  • you overtook two trucks by moving into lane3 of th highway, in UK that would never be allowed!!

    how fast you rollin?

  • welll we aint in the UK we in Virginia Suck it!

  • @Xantec its not allowed there either.. trucks are not allowed in the left lane.. but thanks to mirrors, i can see if cops are coming up behind me, and they enable me to take the chance, and get my speed back up, and get on down the road..

  • @black34male

what you ridin, looks like either a Freightliner Columbia or a KW T2000, judging by the ridge in the hood, im guessing T2000

  • Hey I know THIS SPOT very well I had CATALYTIC CONVERTOR problems along here,,Made it to HILLSVILLE,,,Truck still under warranty,,42,000 miles. 1998 Chev StepVan Custom Ice cream truck ($45,000) Dealer couldn't fix it,,rack to low. Had to take it to a place called RICK's,,did a fantastic job. Still on the truck 147,000 miles now. Took it to TAMPA many winters until 2005-6 winter.

  • Nice driving man I really love your moves @1:27,4:31 This is my dream job. Keep trucking.

  • Man thanks for this vid. I must say you was haulin. How long have you been driving?

  • @LorenzoMoore1000 17 years

  • are their trucks auto's ive heard some horror stories about arnold but i go up there monday for orientation? but i was wondering if you enjoy them

  • dude i think you are deadhead i am i right?

  • You must Ta had an Awful lite load or Empty, 2 bad U got caught Up behind that AD Trans Truck, that might not had happened if you had not passed in the Granny lane. FYI !

  • @jfellowskats well, we are not allowed in the far left lane.. FYI.. I was just hoping i had room.. i did, but i didnt want to cut covenant off..

  • Iam glad guy make videos about driving trucks in mountains, because alot of people dont no what it takes to do it the right way.My wife asked me the other day why some semi trucks had there four ways on going up A mountain, that shows me the genaral public dont know what goes on inside A semi

  • why was that truck in the far left lane, trucks here in the uk can only us the first 2 passing lanes

  • 6:45-6:49 Not so "QUIK-X"... :-D lol

  • Fast !! great !!

  • Been several years since I've been up the pass, was always loaded heavy going and coming. Last time down the jake switch at the clutch arm went out so had to go at it with no jake.

  • yeah loaded heavy,47000 thats heavy, you must be loaded down with sailboat fuel

  • I used to haul car seat foam up the hill, fully loaded could not hold any more was about 5,000 pounds, guys would say i full of shit when i told them i was fully loaded!! LOL

  • @threewayharley lol they are saying it now too.. but that truck could really kick butt..

  • @threewayharley I used to pickup that LLOOWW paying firestone roof insulation foam in Denver. 13'6" high all my tarps stretched to the max. 7300lbs, Everyone on the road knew I was not making any money as I flew past them. But atleast it always got me to Rierson Steel in Chi-town to get a shiny load.

  • if you were loaded heavy like you say great driving but i have been up and down that mountain loaded heavy and there's no way you drive that fast

  • @labl09aa lol OOOOOOOOK.. not EVERY truck has a weak engine.. It is a PULLING truck, but I say from bottom to top, it burned LOTS of fuel

  • isnt it forbidden to overtake on the right lange in usa like in europe?

  • geati6783- Yes, technically it is illegal to overtake in the right lane but it is rarely ever enforced. In the US the rural freeways usually display better lane discipline but it is horrible in the cities where there are 8-10 lanes, then it's everyone for themselves where people overtake in every lane.

  • no. There are some who unpourposly ride in the middle lane, and hold up traffic.

  • Well if he was loaded..great driving

  • I drive this road 4 times a year in an old Suburban. Tucked off Fancy Gap exit is a BP station (that might be the sign for it at time 6:58) that sells a weird potato chip called Utz Crab Chips (flavored with Chesapeake Bay Crab Seasoning). That BP is the only place I've seen them. I always stop in to buy some, if they are in stock. Probably too inconvenient for you guys to get your rigs in there, but if you get a chance, those are good chips, though some think they are too spicy & salty.

  • theres no way in hell you are loaded, and if you are you're very light

  • I was loaded heavy...

  • @gearhead302 lol don't hate

  • what kind of freightliner are you driving? does it have jakes?

  • 4:00 jakes are used.. its a freightliner columbia

  • damn, the jakes are quiet. that sucks. :(

  • @dannyW900 columbia.. yes it has jakes

  • no cops in Virginia?

  • @IHaveAReason7 i was in that left lane huh, lol.

  • I must say you did not have 515 ponies pullling you up that hill, you have 515 clydesdale horses going to work. The engine sounds clean.

  • @firstclassbuck44 love that engine. NEVER gave me problems

  • I DELETED SOMEONE'S COMMENT. They said the truck was not loaded. I'm sorry, i was trying to press reply.. The truck is LOADED...

  • It is a 515 horsepower detroit diesel engine in front of a 10 speed eaton/fuller transmission.. 358 rears.. I never thought a freightliner could pull like mine does, but it is a BEAST!!! LOL I have not done ANYTHING to the engine, or transmission...

  • how fas was that ride? it looks very fast for a truck ;)

  • I was going up in 9th gear which takes truck to about 70 MPH, so I was around 65 mph

  • One more thing: Explain 3:40 to 4:30

You overtook two on the right, but then let them overtake you again? Why? And then overtake them again later?

    Huh?

  • well,, trucks are only allowed in right two lanes.. They were in the left. I did NOT want to lose my speed, so I thought maybe I would try and make it up in the right lane. Needless to say, I came up on a slower truck, an had to slow down. The2 that were dragging in the middle lane moved to the right, then I put that big motor out there in the middle lane, and went around them...

  • Dude, how many HP does your truck have? You pretty much destroyed all the trucks on the road lol.

Record your videos in 30P mode. :)

  • 515 horsepower

  • Post more trucking videos. This was nice.

  • I will.. Thanks

  • loved the video. Makes me wish my son would graduate school sooner so I can get on the road like that. Keep up the good work. Your a great driver.
