  • @JWilliamson1987 Ok, your blocked. Have a nice life

  • @JWilliamson1987 I understood perfectly when a ref can book for a handball 2 years ago, & I still understand now. Not sure why you think I don't know how the rule works? Or why your replying 2 years later?

  • STFC!!!

  • goodwork manh....

  • class

  • good for him not wantin a cheap goal

  • id do that

  • he's still a nazi cunt.

  • Good old Di Canio

  • New manager at Swindon.

  • this is the man who pushed a ref over.lol

he was so entertaining to watch

  • haha the year after he pushed the ref over after getting sent off

  • Great sportsmanship but he was probably faking

  • Lovely stuff by di canio.hes got his good n bad side.

  • too bad di canio is a facist.

  • Did the goalkeeper fake an injury or was it real?

  • @TwoCameIs it was real. i think he twisted his knee

  • wondering if they had a big lead or it was just a friendly... or wtf?

  • @andi15ro fa cup match i think

  • what a great guy =]] he deserves a medal for that, cuz you almost never see that in a pro game

  • @asianstar979 he did get medals i think, a few sportmanship of year awards at least

  • still a nazi

  • thats amazing more than scoring 20 goals in a game

  • fascists ARE racists you fucking morons. one nice thing he's done on the pitch doesn't dismiss his fucked up views on life.

  • would be funny if the ref booked him for hand ball

  • total respect for this kind of player... 11 vs 11 thats what is all about...

  • Someone should show this to Thierry Henry :/

  • @fern244 You just made me laugh my ass off XD

  • he's a fucking asshole, but that's still one of the best things football players anywhere did

  • Sure. Sportsmanship. But trust me. He's not a nice guy.

He's a member of the Fascist Party of Italy, if that helps you to understand what he's really like...

  • like.

  • if this guy would be south corean, he would have jumped on the goalkeepers foot again

  • Human can not live only kindness, and not eligible to live only a strong. He is a real human.

  • he's still a nazi scumbag.

  • かっこいい!

  • thats how all footballers should act

  • he should have been sent of for picking the ball up! haha he was a class guy

  • shame we dont see that anymore

  • Great guy, but he supports the neofascist party in Italy...

  • it would of been funny if he got booked!! lol

  • I believe I have a new favorite player

  • i still hate the Racist cunt

  • @gdavies4

I think that he's a Fascist NOT a racist (there is a difference you know)

  • @SeanFHoward Nontheless a fascist is just as bad as a racist.

  • @SeanFHoward Dictionary definition, yes there's a difference. But fascism ultimately is built on racism:

Your nations people are superior to all, and all other races as sub-human. <Thats fascism. It's rascism.

  • who the fcuk disliked this?? :X

  • Wonderful moment. Full story is written up in Great Moments of Sportsmanship and additional stories are posted on GreatMomentsOFSportsmanship. If you know any other moments like this, please let me know and I'll include them and credit you in the next edition. Thanks, Paul

  • amazing.

  • It was worth the handball and the missed opportunity for an easy goal so he would be the only man on that field.

  • impressive~!

  • its fair enough...he did the right thing but that keeper faked his injury in order for either that to happen, or so he has an excuse when the ball would have undoubedly gone in.

  • @GunnerSlave I doubt it.

  • too bad he's a FACIST CUNT

  • A good sport, takes integrity, no one can take that away from him.

  • sets an example for thierry henry he does

  • henry did nothing wrong against the republic......................what do u expect him 2 do in the 6 yard box when the ball bouces up and hits his hand????

push the ref over like a certain italian????

  • As if Henry did not do that on purpose?

Both the ref and Thierry should be ashamed of themselves...

  • @JUNGLEJUSTICE9mm Henry PURPOSELY directed the ball with his hand. Watch the replay dumbass, he hit the ball TWICE with his hand, then passed then, then wheeled away in celebration when France scored

  • What happen to the goally ? :/

  • he twisted his knee

  • he should've just scored and got it over with

  • im sure the owner isnt very happy

  • too bad di canio doesnt give a shit.

  • handball red card free kick to Everton lol

  • Wow! Not only is it great sportsmanship, but it's also PAOLO DI CANIO stopping the play! :O

  • Weird huh?

He was like the number one nazi football player at the time ^^.

  • you can be "a nazi one" on the field but still have honor, which is beyond everything

  • Yeah well I'm not going to argue with you because you don't see what I mean.

Besides, being nazi is a crime.

  • bellissimo gesto di fairplay, in pochi lo avrebbero ftt, però la gente è capace sl a criticà. AVE PAOLO

  • wow

  • if just peter kovacs could do that to SK Brann (norway) no one in Bergen would hate him!

  • That was very cool. It's nice to see athletes displaying good sportsmanship. But I have a question for those of you who are more soccer savvy than myself. Isn't an intentional handball means for a red card? I thought what he did was an excellent display of good sportsmanship, but isn't the game still on and the ball still live until the whistle is blown? What he did was right and I hope he stayed in the game, but what's the ruling on something like that?

  • There is this thing called proffesional foul. Where pros do that to game advantage.

The only way you can get a red card by hand ball is. if.

the ball was about to roll into your goal and you stoped it by your hands to force a penalty. Thats just cheap so they red card you for that.

But the just touching it you should not get a card, this guy did not. for sure because he set a good example for the sport.

  • If you follow the letter of rule 12 of the association football laws...then this is a straightforward 'deliberate handling' foul and should result in a free kick. Award of either a yellow or red card would be at the referees discretion but the rules do not 'demand' it in this case.

Intentional handball is only an instant red card offence if it "denies an opponent a goal or an obvious goal scoring opportunity".

  • well yes normally thats a foul and a booking ( yellow not red ) but as its a sign of sportmanship and aiding the oppisition with no beneficial outcome to his own side its ok the ball will be pulled to a 50/50

  • if he just wanted the attention he would have gone for the header and gotten an easy goal, do u think he had time to think"hey maybe i should stop the play to make myself look good" NO he said "that guy needs help and i need to stop the play"

  • to me it looked like the goalie realized he wasn't in his box with a loose ball and dived.

  • LMAO ur ryt m8 LOL

  • heheh...pretty smart move

  • you mean he's not acting like a stereotype :O NEVER

  • Di canio es una ejemplo de un facista de verdad!!!!

  • Great respect

  • I remember being there and think at the time "what is he doing?!"

But actually, seeing this now, I think this is a brilliant example of good sportmanship.

  • what happened to DIcanio? because the ref obiously didn't blow his whistle

  • loved it. simple.

  • This is beautiful.

  • this makin me feel theres hope !

  • good for him!

  • That is sportsmanship!

That is how every player should act.

  • agreed!! very fair play!

  • @Lunkaren and then he went and pushed a referee!!!!!!

  • @stevieG3232 Still, a good display from a good player.

And this is a two year old comment :)

  • @Lunkaren oh absolutely i agree i was just having a laugh at the contrast between the two incidents!! di canio was a very good player no doubt about it but he will forever be the guy that pushed the referee

  • @Lunkaren and it may be a 2 year old comment but its new to me.what difference when it was..im still allowed reply

  • @stevieG3232 Yes you are but why bother?

  • @stevieG3232 because i wanted 2..what is it with people on youtube being so crabby.even though it was 2 years ago its funny how you replied to my comment so quickly lol, take care

  • we need more people like this in the world.

  • What. Fascists?

  • Your a ass JWilliamson1987.. everyone calls it a "handball".. when was the last time you heard a commentator say "Suspicion of handling the ball deliberately there"? He says "Suspicion of handball there" instead..

Also, you can of course get booked for handling the ball even when the ball is nowhere near the goals, and if you already have a yellow card then "handballing" IS a sending off offense.. Haven't you ever watched a game?

  • are you idiot???

    are you malakas?????

  • No I'm not, you are though. Learn English before using it to insult me, thanks.

My point below was that a ref can book someone for deliberate handling of the ball. Suppose the handler was breaking up an attack that was a sure goal by handling it, he would get @ least a yellow for sure.

I never said Di Canio should have got a card for the above but some people interpreted it like that.

And everyone does call it a handball, even if it isn't "official"...

  • re trava gamisou poutanas gie!!!bastarde!!!

  • Loser..

    Is maith liom caca milis!!

Ar mhaith leat tarricoir mor ar an feirm?!!

Chuaigh na paisti amach sa pairc ag am loin!!!!!!!!!

  • great guy

  • Great stuff.

  • that goalie was fakin. lol.

  • think what you like about paulo, this was a really great think to see on the football pitch.

kind of a shame hes more famous for the not so good incident! (although i remember him most for "THE volley!!" haha you know which one im saying!)

  • that's what i like to see.

It's unforunate that there are so few videos of good sportsmanship when there are so many bad sportsmanship videos

  • what a man thats the most honour ive ever seen in soccer

  • fair play to di canio

    that is superb.

  • Alright mate thanks for telling me the 'correct call', ive always wanted to know that. How embarrassing to call it handball when it is obviously called 'handling the ball deliberately'...

P.S. that is why I said it was an attacking player who did it...if a defending player caught the ball like that with their keeper that far out of position, he would have been sent off...

  • RedCardUrOff

  • How is it a red card when it was the attacking team that handballed it...booking at worst...

  • Honor before victory

  • much respect..but the fucker goalie fair played up wen he was caught by the bollocks

  • Shutup yank.

  • jew? fuckin scientologist. TOUCHDOWN

  • what a great idol

  • Paulo Di Canio - fucking legend!!!

  • good idea

  • Brilliant

  • The goalie blatantly sandbagged it after he got stuck so far out of position...

  • thats what i was thinkin too.

  • Respect dude respect

  • Much respect

  • very good

  • Much respect. Cheers!
