I heard this piece for the first time 2 days ago... I fell asleep leaving the radio on, and woke up into this music! Can you imagine what a great feeling it was? This little theme Cis B D, Cis B D terts none quart, Brahms goes straight to the subdominant with his little 3 note theme ! What a theme! Thanks also to " me playing" :) Egan Denmark

You're such a very good player, and you play elegantly. Yet I see this piece as Brahm's elegy for life, and not a eulogy. This piece's feeling of resignation calls for lightness and quiet. The stateliness is built into the piece itselt already, and needs only a gentleness of spirit to bring it out. Perhaps when you are 60, you will play it differently. it's wonderful, though.
