Two Jet liners ran into the World Trade Center buildings in lower manhatton, causing massive fires that burned the steel making the towers fall. The Twin Towers are the World Trade Center, and they are rebuilding them as we speak. Two other attacks were on September 11th, 2001. It is a proven science, a mature science and it has been deconstructing and reconstructing air, sea and land disasters for decades. I'm not an engineer but even I know that these datum determine whether a plane could or could not bring down the tower. I can also tell if an engineer is or is not providing a viable analysis of the collapse. You can't close the case if you don't know what the case even is.

Having spoken with first responders in person and knowing two people near the scene on that day, there is no evidence of an inside job. Quite the contrary. The towers were felled because of architectural decisions made nearly thirty years prior to the attack by Minoru Yamasaki. Because of his unusual solutions to the demands of the project, the towers behaved as designed under the circumstances.

@KungFriedChicken The WTC wasn't built as a standard steel column building. It had a restraining cage on the outside that kept the relatively flexible interior under load. If you get an object through the outer cage, the interior was far more susceptible to penetration than a standard steel tower. Further, while it wasn't possible for fire to melt load bearing elements, heat radically reduces steel and concrete's ability to sustain a load under pressure. This is all engineering 101 stuff.

First, the WTC was a cage design because in 1966 there wasn't a compression steel and concrete assembly that could sustain the weight. Minoru Yamasaki came up with the tension cage as an innovative solution to the issue. Problems of this sort were suspected at the time.

It was hardened in CASE of impact but it was always assumed that fire - any fire - would threaten the load baring strength of both steel and concrete. No one said jet fuel had ANYTHING to do with the weakening. Fire. Just fire - fueled by paint, furnishings, paper, plastic and wood.

@KungFriedChicken And the towers were designed - as all towers are designed - to sit down in their own footprints. This is an actual design requirement for any urban highrise. It is part of engineering for earthquakes (yes, they were designed with earthquakes in mind) and hurricanes. If a tower goes down (code 10-60) it MUST minimize collateral damage. The reason demolition teams have such trouble doing this is that they are inducing a non-load baring failure from the bottom up.

Shape charge detonations aren't visible. Concrete scattering is what's visible and that is also what was visible in the WTC.

But that said, whoever says weak plane is a bit of an ass ... you're talking about a make-shift high velocity impact bomb basically, and all it had to do was take out *one* floor, the upper half of the building would easily take down the lower as it came crashing down.
