Maybe you should listen again, exclusively to Ian's vocal. The amount of perfect detail applied to each storytellin' word is rare today and especially for this age!
Used to go Healy's when I came to town to wrench at the Molson GP. Got to meet Jeff a few times. He would remember me ask how we doing for the race. What great guy he was to his fans. I asked once what that red pickup was in his house guitar. Did realise 'till I got back to the hotel I asked a blind guy about the "red" pickup. What a great player and man. I was lucky to get in a deep discusion about playing and tone with him once. Such a great performance this is. I'll Always miss him
Even if this is not your brand of music, You have to be a scumbag of the highest order to navigate your way to the dislike button, and click dislike. Die a painful death you effin scumbag!
A Hell of a musician but much more he was a Hell of a man.... He sat in with so many and when you come right down to it he could have sat in with anyone...He is and will be so sadly missed..........
@SeboZax7 just now when i heard that line it made me so sad cuz it really was prophetic. what a gentle, humble, sweet man he was and so so talented. i better find him in heaven when i get there!!
So many people say Jeff was good for a bling man but I say he was good for ANY man, his music is an inspiration that anything is possible if you keep at it long enough. We all have lost a great voice in music.
@outskirtscustoms i totally agree a preson who is just good wouldnt have played with greats like SRV,BB king and all the other greats he was great not good good would be some guy who is a one hit wonder who played with no one at this level blind or not he still made his guitar gently weep
@untamed169 So true, I'd say Jeff is the most overlooked talented individual of all time. So many people are like "Who is Jeff healy?" Then when they hear him for the first time they are like WOW!
It does not matter if he liked the song or not. He owns it. His notes in the solo are untouched to this very day. Gillan`s voice varies from concert to concert. Sometimes it is full sometimes not.
what a soulful voice Ian Gillian has and Jeff Healy well I miss him RIP Jeff, I usually close our blues set with this song and dedicate it to Jeff Healy
RIP
I agree there are many Greats it is a Matter of taste but i am proud to say a few are canadian! Not bad 4 a country w a small pop. Props 2 the U.S. and U.K too
Seen Ritchie,Jeff, Joe Satriani & Steve Morse play this and I honestly have to say that Joe,Jeff & Steve are all better at it than Ritchie. Maybe its true what Ian Gillan and Ian Paice said when they mentioned in an interview once that Ritchie didn't like this wonderful tune because when he plays it his heart just isnt in it.
It's very hard for me to say what I feel...Gillian play "When a blind man Cries" and Jeff is beside him..my eyes are wet...JEFF...you are allways in my heard and my soul...R.I.P. my friend!
If you start reading thins you CANT stop .Once ther was a little girl named Cecilia. She was a little 7 year old who got strangled and raped by a man =.If you dont post this to 15 other videos you will see CCecilia standing at the end of your bed with a knife and she will kill you
You have to do this by midnight or you will be dead
Jeff is missed by all of us, may he truly rock in peace, lol Ian Gillan looks like a bum now, he's starting to lose his voice but this performance was still amazing
Jeff's substantial physical presence, talent, generosity, sense of humour & ability to move listeners with his unequivocal, gripping playing made him a true giant of a man. He endured constant roadblocks & challenges throughout his life, achieving more on a material & especially artistic level than 100's of other "Come & Go Celebrities". His soulful partnership with Ian Gillan on this song of personal lifelong inspiration takes on an elevated level of poignancy now, after his premature passing.
stunning. what else can be added? ritchie is amazing, but it is unmeasurably deeper when healey takes his turn. it is almost as the song were written for him. what an incredible loss.
Holy shit, emotional overload right there. I'm in tears here and I don't know if it's because of Jeff's playing or the fact he's no longer here. Probably a bit of both. Where's the kleenex
Wonder what it must be like for him now, if there is another side, to be able to finally see. To see the light, see colors, see beauty, perfection....
Bloody awesome. 5 stars. This song just gives me shivers. Jeff you will be missed. You were an icon of Canadian and blues music. We miss you. Enjoy jamming with Stevie Ray and Jimmy.
How could lyrics become a deeper meaning...??? This is so unbelievable...I´d like to know, what Ian did think, when they did perform this classic one with Jeff by his side. Great...amazing; I still have chills all over.

This is strictly a Blackmore song with an unrivalled Blackmore solo.
People should not play it.
All this pentatonic blues solos do not really get near what Ritchie is saying in the original solo.
gillan5 1 year ago
Bullshit its well know and has been said by all members of Purple that Blackmore didn't like the song.
I personally think this is the best version of the song I've heard. Its such a shame that Gillan hasn't got the voice any more.
