This is a great video, Chris - and goes for straight folks too! I have a friend whose girlfriend didn't tell him she was HIV+. So they had sex (thankfully protected, and he's still HIV-) and he had no idea. She assumed he would leave if she told him. The sad part? When he finally found out, he wanted to work it out with her. It was her LYING that made him leave her, not her status.

Yes, it's important to know someone's status but you still should assume everyone you have sex with can potentially be positive and use condoms. Also, having safe sex with an HIV positive person can be safer than someone that says they're negative.
People who reveal their positive status most likely are taking medication to keep their viral count low and also an honest person is better to have relations with in many ways. Thanks for the vid Chris! You're a good guy. Screw the haters.

This is a great video, Chris - and goes for straight folks too! I have a friend whose girlfriend didn't tell him she was HIV+. So they had sex (thankfully protected, and he's still HIV-) and he had no idea. She assumed he would leave if she told him. The sad part? When he finally found out, he wanted to work it out with her. It was her LYING that made him leave her, not her status.
I know there's stigma, but some people do realize HIV+ folks are still people worthy of love. Just be honest.

@dyschickaqt there is such thing as reinfection, and so I've heard many different strains of HIV, some of which are immune or don't respond as well to treatment

Yes, it's important to know someone's status but you still should assume everyone you have sex with can potentially be positive and use condoms. Also, having safe sex with an HIV positive person can be safer than someone that says they're negative.
People who reveal their positive status most likely are taking medication to keep their viral count low and also an honest person is better to have relations with in many ways. Thanks for the vid Chris! You're a good guy. Screw the haters.

I don't think it's any less safe, the cruising scene vs meeting at a bar. I've known PLENTY of people who will go to a bar to get wasted with plans of meeting someone to go home with... and i doubt the status discussion ever comes up. If you're gonna be a slut, you're gonna be one on your app or at the bar. If you're looking for something serious, you're going to take precaution no matter how you meet people.
