@DrDaveElliott - Same here, and I feel so ignorant now... I remember when I first saw this video, I thought it's awesome, and so original... I'll listen to one of my favorite songs once again, and then I'll search for more of Meliese's work :)
Such a great song and band. My friends and I recently recorded a video for our song "Salt in the Wound" and we would really love if you took the time to check it out! We don't sound much like Smashing Pumpkins, but you may like it anyway! Thanks and God Bless!
This Is A Fabulous Hommage To Georges Méliès Movie " Voyage Sur La Lune ". Unfortunatly People Will Pass Next To Treasures Like This One Because Of Mediocre Attempts " Like Turn Me On ". Such An Insult For The Steam Punk Genre.
clearly you misunderstood my pun. Billy Corgan once joked in an interview that he was Gerards father because they look alike. I guess you are not as big of a fan of either band as I am or else you would have got the reference.
@javchucker47 not true I'm 23 and I had the album when I was a little kid. No I'm not kidding, I knew every word to the song at 6 years old. I had a young mother who made sure I knew what the music was. So I think you should amend your statement...
hugo is based on a book called the Invention of Hugo Cabret and it was 1000000 times better than the movie whoever says otherwise is a loser!!!!!!!!!!!!
There are three things that give this song its super edge: Chamberlain's drumming, the orchestra in the back (with its climatic point in the middle), and Corgan ad-libbing "Tonight"
94 dislikes. 94 people would hate themselves, if they were on youtube. I don't understand why people hate, but then I am Jesus. ;)
Ok back to being rational great song, great video, any who disagree will burn in hell. :P
Incidentally I am not mental, but I have never hated anything, I just don't see the point of logging in to a song I don't like just to hate it? Am I weird?
In this video Billy is like the circus leader of an intergalactic spaceship leaving this wicked world behind on a quest for a galaxy of love and peace. This song is the invitation and yes Billy, we will join you on this quest and we shall never look back!
This is the most wonderful video that I've ever seen in my life and the most marvelous video that I'll never see again. Pure art, pure gold, pure diamond... It's pure.
what about now, AIR, with their new Album released on Feb 8th, 150 years after Mèliés was born. Its name: Le Voyage dans la Lune, and even more, they reproduced Mèliés master piece with more than 1400 frames found and colored handed, one by one. And the tracklist for the film is all the tracks from AIR's album.
@apostolosapok Well.... I made this comment because I know Georges Méliès, some years before I watch this video. This video has the most simple and exciting cinematographic ingredient bewitches us more than 100 years. Only Méliès knew this ingredient and some how the director of this video could perceive this and sure he could show it.
If you enjoy this video you really ought to look up George Melies. His movies from the 1890's and early 1900's was the inspiration for this. In fact the ship at the end bears his name, "S.S.Melies"

at 4:04 you'll notice the ship is named "S.S. Méliès".
furthermore, if you wiki "Tonight, Tonight" you'll discover that the music video was inspired by Georges Méliès's silent film A Trip to the Moon.
this is the reason why Hugo reminds you of this music video, or the other way around. =)
